    Curated Avalon has a video where she lost her Girologio pen case. She found it in some grass field after some days after. It looked a bit weathered because it rained, but all her pens inside were fine and functional. So Girologio can take a lickin'.

    I added a small square of foam to the bottom of each channel in the Aliexpress pen cases to bring the pen's height to the top of the pen case. I own a few ... two that hold 12, one that holds 6 and one that holds 3 and yes, I like them for the price.

    Nice case for the money. I prefer non-leather, but I do like a rigid case - particularly one with a magnet closure.

    I purchased my Girologio 2 pen case shortly after your review and really like it. In fact, I ended up buying 4 of the 24 pen zippered cases. Of those, one had to be exchanged because the internal divider flap was already coming unstitched across about a third of the bottom. The replacement was fine, but makes me wonder about QC with such a large issue.

    I have that case in brown. I like it. I actually dont like synthetic fibers touching my pens since they are in fact abrasive, but for the price, and considering it sits in my cabinet it is well worth having vs having nothing.

    Franklin-Christoph sells a case with a similar design made of Natural Wood Fiber (aka "paper") that I chose over leather because it is actually stiffer, so more protective. And a little cheaper. The look also is similar to leather. I like mine and I'm not even a vegan.

      I could never bring myself to pay their price for a "paper" case. I usually just have my pens in my shirt pocket. I also have a few big zippered twenty pen cases, where the zipper is far enough from the pen due to size of the case. They are cloth and were pretty cheap for what they are.

    Honestly as long as its sturdy the case is worth the money. I don't have a pen case for my pens I usually just put them on the pocket of the backpack where the drink goes. I do want to get at least one that can hold two pens but I can't really convince myself that it's necessary to get.

    Admiring your two-pen Girologio, I got one ... not thrilled with the quality, but wasn't devastated enough to return. The brass studs are stabbed in a little wonkily (uneven), and at the top of the case, the hard side panels stuck out a bit oddly beyond the flap (I bent them back in). The leather itself is ok ... I thought to myself: Should have gotten a Galen; their quality makes them a fantastic value for the money. The price for Galen's 2 and 3 pen cases (flap, though, not magnet) are about the same as the Girologios.

    Looks nice, the fabric cases might make the pens bounce around and bump against each other, so I was looking for something more isolated like this. To drop into my backpack and hopefully not get damaged when I forget and lean on train doors wearing a backpack.

    Funny thing I missed out on a 12 pen Galen leather pen case on an FPUK charity auction if I’d have put another £10 I might have got it………………… Magnetic clips sometimes don’t work out. I have a beautiful Lamy leather 3 pen case and I used to have a very heavy stainless steel Lamy 2000 in it. If not careful it would work it’s way out of the case because the magnet wasn’t strong enough to hold it back say if you tilted the case. Great video as always and a reasonably priced decent pen case. Thank you. D

    I picked up a Contacts Family 3 pen brown leather case like this about 6 months ago and it's held up very nicely. The one niggle I have is the pen tray is a bit hard to remove. But I glued a 2" strip of elastic as a pull tab and that issue has gone away.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  Год назад

      Yeah a little pull tab would be good. Would also help to reduce the likelihood of one of the dividers coming loose as thats the thing you grab to pull out the tray

  • @ironmic9244

    I don't like zippered cases for the same reason. Don't like the cases with the elastic loops either, unless it's for longer term storage like a 24, 48 pen case. I have the Galen Leather 5-pen zippered case that people rave about. I don;t like it. There isn't much clearance to take the pen out. I hold back the metal zipper teeth so it won't scratch by mistake, and I only put small pens. No OMAS 360 in there. Waste of $55. I have the Girologio (can't pronounce or even remember how to spell it) 3 pen, 48 pen and the 6 pen wrap. Franklin Christoph has some good pen cases as well. Just like this one you showed, but they have had them for years, in both leather and other materials.

    While I have several Galen pen cases and notebook covers, I have nothing by Girologio. I will try them out although I am viewing their products with some trepidation since you seem suspicious. I do like Lochby products, however. You might give them a try.

      Well shipping from China used to take forever, then we got spoiled, and things came much faster, but now with all the shipping snags we are back to having to wait. Not as bad as in the old days, but a lot longer than we are used to now. Some actually come in fast, as they bulk ship to LA or NYC, then relabel and drop it in US post.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  Год назад +4

      I don't mind the wait. If I need a replacement part for something that breaks (aka my oven) I need to get it quick. But something like this I don't mind if it takes time on its journey. Sometimes it arrives after a bummer day and you got a bit of a pick me up when something is in the mail

    • @martinlebl631
      @martinlebl631 Год назад +1

      @@Doodlebud Yep, for non-essentials it is great. And really most fountain pen stuff is non-essential for most people. You can wait for hobby items. Bummer for gifts, as people don't often plan those far enough in advance. Literally case in point as after X-mas delivery will put a kibosh on this for many in early December.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  Год назад +1

      The Galen Leather ones are on a different level all together. I don't own one, but I've held & played with them. The material and build quality is significantly better. Also, labor costs will be higher, tough to compete with China. Also, they had to invest all the time, resources, and money into design, testing, marketing etc to get the product out there and build awareness. Companies to copy designs have the luxury of capitalizing on the work that was already done before them and can now just offer a low cost clone.

    • @martinlebl631
      @martinlebl631 Год назад

      @@Doodlebud True, although I have seen this style of pen case before Galen got into the fountain pen world, so not sure if their R&D investment is that great here. What they bring to table is the decades of leathermaking expertise, and it shows in the looks of their products. Sure they are cheaper than similar stuff made in Italy, but as most modern high end leather goods they can hardly be called cheap. Unless you want that authentic leather high end look, a much cheaper version will do when you just want to transport your pens safely. The also make some nice non-pen-related leather goods.
