    Great video, just thought I might mention that I think when you removed the rear fan in your case you installed it the wrong way after fitting your motherboard. This means it will be acting as a intake not exhaust.

      I didn't, I used Sony Vegas for many years. I switched about a year ago to Davinchi Resolve.

    For $1.5k you could have some fantastic grunt, + you can run your Logic Pro & OSX natively!
    A lot of homework, but possible, maybe as a dual OS boot too.

    Great video. The i9 9900k was also my first choice but because of some bad reviews about it's getting too hot I did not take the step and considering the 10940 which is a bit above budget

    I remember reading somewhere that the overwhelming vast majority of recording studio software is created and tested on Windows/Intel machines
    As far as I could tell, it sounded like Apple/AMD is an afterthought. And there's even several companies out there who don't even bother with AMD/Apple. They write their software for Intel/Windows and if you don't like it, too damn bad

    it's 2023 now... I'm wondering how relevant this build would be and if cost would be any less or more inflated?

    • @biasedaudio
      @biasedaudio  Год назад +1

      With GPU prices dropping back down to sanity, I think it is possible to come close to this price. Though the build would be more powerful.

    that i9 9900K could have perform much better... there's a setting on the bios to run all core 4,7Ghz all the time... 1,1Ghz more than running it at base 3,6Ghz... you seem running on the base clock... there some setting on the step speed and C1 to help the performance.
    great vids!

    • @biasedaudio
      @biasedaudio  3 года назад

      I haven't really been able to get the fans to run very fast. I may install the inline speed reducers that noctua provide because with audio the fan stay at a low speed and cool. Also Be Quiet has a new case you can swap the mesh front for a solid front if you choose.

      Makes sense I wasn't aware of this. Maybe that's why the new Avid installer gave me issues. I know Windows can block updates but I thought long term that was only in pro version, they may have changed that

    The clock speed of the CPU shouldnt be used a key performance indicator in isolation.
    Remember the Apple CPUs use RISK scaffolding which is a completely different and more efficient chip set up.
    In any case, the requirements and demands you expect to place on your sound recording system which ultimately dictate how you set up the system.
    Overall, an impressive setup that clearly saves money

    • @biasedaudio

      Petra, in this video and at this time I am comparing to the Mac Pro desktop. That is currently and still is an Intel Xeon cpu, though I'm sure they will switch to the Apple cpu soon. Thank you for your comment.

    I've purchased a Presonus Studio Live mixing board and will probably just run their software. Do you think this will work with this great PC that you've built here? Also what would you recommend for wireless on this PC? I will be using a tablet for when remote while at my drum kit and need transport, recording control. This video is so great and I thank you for it!!

    • @biasedaudio
      @biasedaudio  Год назад

      Christopher, I try to avoid commenting on systems I haven't used personally. I haven't used the live or Presonus one software. I can say this. I use the computer with Davinchi resolve and Pro Tools for recording audio, and I've had no issues in either. This video is a couple years old so some of the parts may be hard to source and I don't know where the prices are. There are newer parts so these could be less expensive, but covid did increase parts cost so they might be MORE expensive. For example EVGA no longer makes the 2060. I would check to see if this hardware is available and affordable. As far as wifi and Bluetooth ASUS makes a card. I thought the only tablet control of the Presonus was apple only and I have no experience if that is compatible with a P.C. you should research that. I would suggest you use this video as a rough guide to purchasing components. With a newer i9 cpu and matching motherboard . As well a Nividia 3060 which may see a price decrease with the new 40 series being released.

    • @biasedaudio
      @biasedaudio  Год назад

      please note I have made changes to my response. I would suggest using a newer i9 cpu with a matching ASUS motherboard. Same with the GPU I would try a 3060 instead of the 2060.

      Double check but the z590 is compatible with the 11 generation CPU. I used a i9 9 generation. So no it would not work with the 9gen CPU I used. It would require a 11 gen but may be backwards compatible with a 10 gen. You would needs to check all specs carefully

    Is there any way to turn this into a Hackintosh? Running mac os?

    • @biasedaudio
      @biasedaudio  3 года назад

      My understanding of Hackintosh is that the components need to be chosen with cross compatibility with Mac OS. I haven't done that. I would expect that the newer mac's have security chips that could prove difficult to get around. Stability was a prime concern so I didn't look at the Hackentosh option. So I do not know, but I doubt it.
