Not to be a Buzz Killington, but due to how old the gba games are, won't the save battery die in the cartridges and if so, your save file won't be deleted right?

Fortunately with the DS and 3DS games, it is much more easier to get legit events on 2nd hand or even new copies depending on you finding the mystery gift file(s) for your country.

You can actually download the events for gen 4 and 5 off a server by manually entering the DNS in the video here. Just got all of the events for platinum off it

few days ago I bought a seconhand Firered cartridge (Japanese version), came with the box and everything and it still had the save file on it (44hrs, 8 badges, 108 caught). It had pokemon form different trainers but they where all in Japanese so this was the file from the original owner who originally bought it in Japan.
I almost lost it when I found a lvl 30 Mew in the party. I immediatly checked the bag and found both a Mystic and Aurora Ticket! after checking the box I also found a Lugia and Ho-oh! I couldn't find Deoxys in any Box yet It was registered in the Pokedex so I thought one of the previous owners might have traded it over, but then checked both of the Day-care's and...
A Japanese Lvl 37 Deoxys was waiting for me at 4 Island!

To be fair I would be skeptical on stuff like that. Could easily have been hacked in. When I got my copy of ulta moon from gamestop it had every single pokemon in it, and all were shiny. Finding a mew in it? Finding both tickets? Can say that is very likely hacked.
@@TAiiNE if the cartridge was hacked, the OT of the Mew would match my trainer's OT, wich it doesn't. So it's deff traded in. Plus a flyer for the deoxys event was inside the box. So I'm pretty sure this cartridge was at the event in Japan. Personally if I would hack my file I'd look for more than just a mew. yet no shinies in the box, and no Jirachi or Celebi in the pokedex.
Also no nicknames, so to me this all suggests he was just a casual player, not a shiny hunting hacker.
Still the thought has crossed my minded ofcourse...

That is absolutely amazing, and it's even better that there's all the video footage and pictures to document the experience. I was unable to get the events back then (I live in the East Coast as it is), but the good folks at Digiex made it possible for me and my brother to shiny hunt Deoxys in 2018. It's nice to see others also share the same enthusiasm as we have for the Generation III events.
The photo album makes a lot more sense now. I was sceptical at first. But on second viewing this is neat. It's cool how his Mom kept all those memories.

There's not enough respect for these events. You had to physically go to these places to get these rare Pokemon. I feel fortunate that I was able to get several of these event Pokemon (Most from Journey Across America and Rocks America, though I only got the Naval Rock ticket and never got this one. Also got the Mew they gave away at Toys R Us during FR/LG as well as the Eon Ticket from the mini tour they did)
Really glad you were able to find these preserved photos and video footage. Keep em as close as you all can because lord knows this will become more cherished as the years go on
I only ever got to do one of these when I was a kid. It was the Darkrai event in Gen 4. I did own a GBA with Leaf Green in 2004 but I was only 5 and didn't know about these events. I really wish I could have gotten to do one of the Gen 3 events.
The problem with those types of events is that if you dont live in japan or the us you wouldnt get it

It's really cool to see these kinds of events, but it was sad being a kid living in South America knowing that i'll never even get a chance to go.

For real tho... Our whole squad of 9 year olds looking up how to get all these legendaries and stuff. That's some memories for sure. Good but also very sad memories. Remember also trying to get into the one house in Diamond that would lead me to Darkrai and I was told to wait until a certain time at a certain day and it would only open up then. It didn't work :(
I couldn't use ActionReplay either as my Nintendo DS was from America and I live in Europe.

I have a Deoxys from my friend who traded it to me back in the day . What made my day was years later to find out I seen and caught 385 Pokémon but missing Celebi. Sadly most of my Pokémon had been transferred over to Pokémon Diamond.
Aside from Celebi, who was basically impossible to get in US and basically, all other versions except JP versions, it's basically legit completed. And even then, considering the time of gen 3, it's highly unlikely you'd ever trade for a Celebi
i have celebi in pokemon sapphire. i got it from japanese pokemon colosseum
And no one knew that it was discovered until RUclips recommended it to us

I wish I was able to experience stuff like this. I was just born a bit too late. (2006) I didn’t become interested in Pokémon until 2016.
I feel bad 😔 for you, I was born in 1999 and even then I didn’t even experience stuff like this half way through.

An amazing experience
I have a legit Eon Ticket for Ruby/Sapphire. I mean a physical one, given out from Nintendo Power. I don't have an eReader to scan it into my game to catch Latios in my Sapphire, but I doubt many people who subscribed to Nintendo Power magazine even have their physical Eon Ticket eReader cards anymore. It's probably my greatest game-related treasure I own.
This was nostalgic for me, I’m from the UK and I went to the event for the Aurora Ticket in Birmingham. To this day I forgot where I went to get it but all I remember from the time was begging my parents to go (I was young, being 2005 I was… 12 years old, wow) to Birmingham because we lived in a neighbouring city. They agreed and of course we went to this special location to get it, thanks to you I now know it was a VUE.
I remember returning to school afterwards and being the talk of my friends because they were jealous.
The best part is, I had carried this Deoxys through the many generations of Pokémon games and a couple of weekends ago I found him sitting in my copy of Pokémon X, I used Bank and he’s now sitting comfortably in Home 😌

Ah, the good ole days when Event Pokemon was something special. If people wanted an event Pokemon, you had to go certain events where they had specifically that event Pokemon available. Nowadays, with Wi-Fi and people abusing the clone glitch, event Pokemon don't feel as special anymore.

@@mememaster9703 find as in locate them in gba games? Probably. If you mean get special events like these. The Pokemon VGC does give away event pokes for those who attend it. I'm sure there are events in Japan, but that's only for Japan.

I was able to get one of these tickets from a Toys R Us in 2005. I remember that was the literal “ticket” to me fully completing my Sapphire pokedex. Thanks for reminding me about this, I’ll have to find my E-Reader and Aurora ticket.

Hi! I’ll share my experience since I was a kid when these events happened!
In Italy, there was a way to get both Deoxys and Mew (in different years) by going to an event at one of the biggest amusement parks in Italy (Mirabilandia)
Since I lived far from it and couldn’t justify going there, I wrote a letter on MS word that I printed, asking Nintendo if they could please give me the event item to get to Mew since that was my favorite Pokémon and I couldn’t go to any event.
I put my cartridge in the mail with the letter and sent it to the Italian Nintendo branch.
After 1-2 weeks, the game came back with a letter from Nintendo: they said they couldn’t give Mew away, as it was the next year’s event, but they did add the Aurora Ticket AND (and that is why I think they were so very kind) they substituted my Latios and Latias (found them in the box) that I had in my team with a lv. 70 Lugia and Ho-Oh (probably coming from the other Fire Red event)
I know it sounds like a crazy story but it’s true and since it wasn’t the era of the Wi-Fi and internet yet (for event Pokémon), these were the only way to get them!
Being from Bristol United Kingdom and seeeing that the event giveaway for Deoxys was about 5 minutes from me via car is devastating

Sadly growing up I never got to attend an event Pokémon giveaway except Victini. Which my Black version was then stolen after I just beat it. I got into Pokémon at Pearl and LOVED it, but never did an event :( But I vividly remember my older brother catching Deoxys & Drakrai while my younger bro and I watched.
Event Pokémon always felt different to me, I’m sure others agree. Like yeah anyone can go and get a Rayquaza, Deoxys, hell even Arceus with glitches and exploits. But the journey to get them made it so nerve wracking for me. It felt like just that Victini alone was THE REAL one. And this was AN ANCIENT Deoxys waiting to be caught! Ugh, it’s so cool I can’t even explain it

You can pretty much get the legit events via injection today what you'll need is
-3rd Gen legit game
-Original DS/DS Lite
-R4 cartridge
-Nintendo DS Event Tools
Having your legit copy of 3rd Gen games (reproduction ones won't work they save different)
Download the DS Event tools just Google it out it on the r4 then insert the gba 3rd Gen game in the ds lite open the r4 menu open the app you downloaded then inject whatever event its available open your gba game enjoy! :)
Was waiting to see this comment! Also some of the event distribution carts roms have been uploaded online, so if you have a gba flash cart you can literally give yourself the events items/mons from another gba just like it would happen back in the day!

That's why online events are a giant improvment.Imagine having to travel around the world just to catch some pixels in a game.But I wished they would do more events where you need to catch the pokémon and not just receive it.
It makes me want to cry, my country had some pokemon events some years ago, but we had this kind of event with event pokemon distribution only once, and only for gen 5
I'm from the Netherlands and I got it by sending my FireRed game cartridge to Nintendo.
It's kind of crazy. I distinctly remember going to a Pokemon event at a McDonalds in a larger city in Germany where I live. They had like official Pokemon trucks, where doing merch giveaways and all that stuff. And they were handing out Aurora tickets. I don't remember the year, but it must have been before Gen 4 was released. I went there and got Deoxys through the Aurora ticket and some old guy who had a hack was selling Celebies in trades for 2€ to a bunch of kids that were there and he was actually escorted off the premises by Nintendo (?) staff and told to stop. Really wild.

I have a Japanese copy of Pokemon leafgreen with the event active. No action replay or gameshark. It was an unfinished copy of the game that most of the pokemon transferred to the newer games. None of the items or dex entries messed with.

We got deoxys in spain through moviplaya which was some promotional events that nintendo oficially run here. Not only UK. You could get Aurora Tickets but also the tickets used to catch Lugia and Ho-Oh in firered leafgreen, and a selection of "legendary" pokemon such a Pikachu with Volt Tackle and Surf..
in 100 years when im dead someone will open a box and find my heartgold and platinum with legit completed national dex and many unique event pokemon circa 2009-2013

Leaf green and fire red were the last Pokemon games I ever played. Thinking back, I never really understood the shiny Pokemon thing. I just thought my game bugged and it's color got corrupted so I never caught them for fear of losing my safe file to corruption.

In Spain was also possible with the MoviPlaya summer events, in selected places. Year 2005, good old times.
I just saw this and I had to respond. First of all lots of nostalgia with this video hahaha. Second, they also gave the Aurora ticket in Spain, but not in the cinemas. It was during summer in various beaches across the whole country. Yeah, beaches, it sounds weird but I promise it's true hahaha. I still have my fire read game with the ticket and the Deoxys I catched, which btw for a 10 year old kid was so freaking awesome to do.

I once had a soul silver card that I had loads of legendary on from previous games like emerald, and traded it into GameStop and didn’t know it was the wrong soul silver card
If they didn’t check then they wiped a legit mew and lots of other Pokémon I had accumulated through multiple games over a decade
