I remember playing this as a kid and discovering the unbeatable cheat of driving full-tilt through the pit lane. The game happily let you get on with it and it gave you an unassailable lap-time advantage. Good times!
Damn, it has been over 30 years I saw this. We used to play this in time trial mode all the time. If you didn't ride a perfect lap, there was no chance you would end up in the top 10. 😆
I still remember ma boy Nigel Levins. Used to duel with him for #7 and almost felt bad when I got subsequently better, because I left him alone at the end of the field. Come on Nigel, get it together man.
Can't believe this is from 1988. It was already way too old when I used to play it as a kid - 2003 or something I think. It's impressive how things from such a long time ago still live on and remain among us as a testament of past times.
I can believe, because I live in a country that was a part of the Eastern Bloc. I think I got to enjoy this baby around 1998-1999. It makes me happy to see how much games have improved since then!
No sound cards, no joystick, just the keyboard. Remember 3 of us staying up til sunrise playing many times... good times. Only 3 cars, all very different, but driven properly all pretty close. Had one feature we always missed in nearly every sim released since... 5 lap average. A 5 lap average is a much better way to judge yourself and the car. Makes for great competitions with family and friends too. ACC has something similar, but should be front and center in all sims. It looks so horrible now, but was actually very enjoyable with very repeatable lap times...Definitely the 1st sim ever.
Came here to confirm this was a game I played when really young. I didn't remember there was menu music, but even hearing two seconds of it was enough to confirm this was the game...

I'm sitting here watching this in 2024 and remembering thinking as a kid in the late 80s while playing Grand Prix Circuit for hours on end that the graphics on the game were out of this world. For the late 1980s on the Commodore 64 ... the graphics were considered top notch. A touch antiquated these days though. A bit boxy.
If you stop in the pit lane between the two white lines, you can actually make a pit stop. As far as I remember, you could even choose which tires you wanted to change. With three laps, it didn't make any sense and you just lost a lot of time. At 20 laps it wasn't necessary either (as far as I remenberd you never had to change tires), but added some authenticity of the game. And if you had already lapped P2, why not.
I played this with my brothers over a CGA 286 back in 1993 (pinkish black colors) Man, I always thought Monza was a simple breeze to race on the back section. I often found the Ferrari easy to handle
Cant believe i played this game for hours and hours 😂 i miss those days
😂😂
This was the first thing we ever ran on our brand new home 286 PC. Took hours to work out how to run. Now all these years later im still gaming!

This is just nostalgia fuel. I played this for so many hours and used to flog Italy.
The good old racing days without „flashbacks“. Every mistake counted - so much pressure as we grew up 😅

I used to LOVE this game!!!!!
My college roommate had this. He lost interest when I got way better at it than him. If you're reading, hi Bill!!!!!
there was a similar game with moto racing as well. This game actually got me interested in Formula 1. :-)
Es un juego simple pero entretenido ese titulo de la Accolade
I won every circuit on hard with manually shifting. Imagining how Max will feel at the end of this season.
I played this game so long when i was a kid
Bruno Gourdo, my childhood nemesis!

Monaco is just how I remember it, zero elevation changes and miles of run-off lol
Good times!
I remember this... take the McLaren, come clean out of the curves and then just step on it on the straights :-) So much fun.
These sound would drive my mother insane.

Me volví experto en este juego, no perdía ninguna carrera
Algunas veces perdía. xD
I did not like racing and I remember being disappointed that I could not drive to the mountains. 😂
Лет 30 назад наяривал в эту игру люто. А главное не мог понять, почему авто не может развернуться и ехать по встречке 😅
