Honestly better than I would've expected. Makes me wonder how much eye tracking and other next gen techniques will potentially lower the GPU requirements. Hopefully we see some concrete Deckard information next year. I think Elite Dangerous would've been still a good benchmarking title too, since it can be quite demanding in certain situations and is still one of the prettiest VR games. Still can't decide if I should grab a "cheap"ish one or wait for the next gen. But who knows how that will end up with all the scalpers and the high demand. Wouldn't be surprised if the prices and stocks end up being shit for at least another year.
Any recommendations with the 6650 xt for some reason everytime I try to open anything that’s connected to steam vr it either won’t work or it’ll work but it stutters like crazy to the point we’re it’s unplayable .
So I have two things to ask. one: So what gpu you are going to benchmark next? Just curious Two: I did asked this in another video of yours, but you ever going to re-benchmark all your gpus with a headset that has eye tracking and foveated rendering to see how much of an performance improvement eye tracking is? All in all, these benchmark videos of yours has really helped me out determine how my future pc build will be and can't wait for more.
I'm hoping to get a RX 7900XTX when it launches on the 13th and I'd like to benchmark the RTX 4090 if I could actually find one at MSRP. As of right now I don't have a plan to get a new headset until the Quest 3 comes out. Based off reviews I've seen I don't feel like the Quest Pro is right for me. My channel earns a fair amount of money but not enough to justify purchasing a Quest Pro when I'd only use it for gaming and it's designed more for business use. Contrary to popular belief I don't get much stuff sent to me for free. 99% of the stuff I've reviewed on my channel I've purchased myself.
@@Maraksot78 Understandable. Even the 7900xtx will be like 1000 dollars, really expensive, but I feel like I messed up with the way I've structured my question. Like, you don't need to get the quest pro to see how much a performance improver it is because of the eye tracking, even then, there are only very few games that has adopted eye tracking. What I should of said was, when eye tracking in headsets are more mainstream, adopted in games, and not over 1000 dollars (hopefully way less than that), will you get one to benchmark how much an performance improver eye tracking is? Eye tracking and foveated rendering is something I have been longing for in vr, so I am really excited to see what it can do, especially since 2023 seems will be the year where we will see headsets with eye tracking. Plus, apparently the quest 3 might not get eye tracking, at least according to SadleyItsBradley. Not saying you should avoid it because it doesn't have eye tracking, it is your money in the end, but yeah.
Oh, ok. I definitely would like to try a headset with eye tracking some day, and it would definitely be interesting to see what kind of performance savings eye tracked foviated rendering offers. With as much as the Quest Pro costs and the rumored price of the Quest 3 being in the same range as the Quest 2, I assume the Quest 3 will not have eye tracking. I just plan to get it because it'll most likely be a nicely upgraded version of the Quest 2, and I'm excited to see what all improvements they make.
Hey! Nice video but I just purchased my rx 6600 and it constantly crashes with Half life alyx although it runs perfectly... What drivers version did you use for this video? Any tip to troubleshoot it? Thanks!
This is a great review! I want to get this card mostly because its a budget card thats still great in 2024 and i unfortunately have a 1650 (not super) that I paid the scalped price of 350 dollars…. So would be nice to get a card that can actually run a lot of games.
do you think the RX 6650XT with a Ryzen 5 5600x is good enough for a oculus quest 1? I'm not sure if a six-core cpu will be enough for PCVR with the RX 6650XT.
Even as an nvidia fanboy since 2018 i cant defend them with this. I will be using amd for my next system. Specifically the 6600 or 6650. Whatever is sufficient for high settings on vr and normal games. Unless they suddenly lower their prices or intel releases a new 200-270$ gpu thats better than the rx 6650 xt.

Great video with very helpful information! Could you help me in my case? i own a Quest 2 and i use it for DCS and IL-2 through cable link. Should i get the 6650XT or the 3060 12GB? My budget is at that tier. I ask this because many people say for the Quest 2 encoding matters, and they say that Nvidia is better and faster in encoding. Is that true? Could you help me? Because i see the 6650xt is between 3060 and 3060TI in benchmarks and i am confused a little... Thank you in advance
Radeon doesn't have h264 coder, only h265, Oculus Link use 264. RX6650XT should be greit if you able to use "Virtual Desktop" application(~20$ in oculus app store) on wireless connection, in the opposite case RTX3060 is the best choice.
@@martix3090 i can only use Oculus link via Oculus cable. So 3060 12GB works better? it gives better image or more fps? because if it is similar, the 6650xt costs 50$ less here in Greece right now.
@Chris R. Default Oculus software use unusual video settings for AMD for oculus link (wifi), with hi compression and can't goer higher than 60mbps. You will see compress artifacts everywere. For optimal image quality on the radeon you need to use Virtual Desktop, but it usable only on wi-fi, not by cable. 3060 12GB has a little less perfomance, but it works well with Oculus software and have more nvRAM, what should be more relable in the future. But Im buy 6650XT, its works fine with VD, and for me it was 80$ cheaper.
@@chrisr.7311 I checked the cable connection - unlike the wireless version, it works great. There is no compression. Apparently, for a wired connection, the oculus uses a different decoder. I can safely recommend 6650XT as VR graphics card for a simulators.
I haven't seen any official benchmarks yet but they go on sale tomorrow and I'm going to try my best to get a 7900XTX and test it in VR to see how it performs. I'm trying to keep my expectations in check though because often times when cards first launch the drivers still need a lot of work. Historically with AMD cards performance gets better over time as the drivers are updated and fine tuned. But again, I'm excited to see what AMD's got for us. 😃👍

@Allen Fryre I apparently got up too late this morning and they were all sold out by the time I tried to buy one. I was up just before 6:00am PST and that wasn't early enough. I've watched a bunch of the normal reviews and I was hoping for a bit more performance than everyone is reporting but it is still a good step up and when compared to the RTX 4080 a much better value. I'm still going to try and buy one, but now it's probably going to be at least a few months before stock normalizes enough for me to get one.
