    Brussel sprouts are yum. Love the crab fishing. You never know what you will get. I would be curious about the spider crabs being good to eat. Their appearance is a little off-putting. Keep the videos coming. We love them.

      Rowdy we might try the spider crabs but they don't look like they have very much meat. For years we always thought them back. And we also like brussel sprouts. Thanks again for Watching

    For future reference... Spyder crabs are every bit as good to eat as blue crabs. They do not have as much meat but what they have (legs and body) is sweater than the one in the blue. Cleaning and cooking is exactly the same as blue crabs.

      When we lived in New Jersey I caught hundreds of spider crabs and I did some commercial fishing but I never knew of anybody who ate them, that's why we threw them back, they were considered trash. We'll have to try them. Thanks a lot for Watching

    Nice on those crabbies..The spider crabs arent worth a flip as far as I am concerned. I am from Long Island originaaly, used to throw them for distance whenever I caught em.. Keep up the good work!!!

      James, When I lived in New Jersey I caught hundreds of them over the years, nobody I knew kept or ate them, like you said they were just trash. Also I never ate sharks, sea robin, dog sharks or monkfish, there were too many good fish. We might cook a spider crab sometime just to see what people see in them. Thanks again for Watching

      There are a lot of different opinions concerning stone crabs. I still think they're better off than blue crabs at least the stone crabs have a chance. That's why it doesn't bother me to take two large claws. Thanks a lot for Watching we appreciate it.

    Well that was a pretty good day. I have a question, I've never been crabbing before and I was wondering is there a difference in the quality and flavor of the crabs depending on location?

      Thanks, yes they do taste a little different but I have a hard time telling the difference, Joyce can tell the difference better than I can, the crabs that we caught in the Halifax River taste the best to me and Joyce agreed. The crabs we catch in the St Johns River taste a little different but are good. The other saltwater crabs including the ones in Mississippi taste the same to me but Joyce says she can tell the difference. Thanks a lot for Watching

    I have never caught or eaten Spyder crabs but if I caught them I would give them a try. Just clean off the barnacles the cook as a blue crab. They look like they’d have sweet meat in the legs for sure

      I caught hundreds of them when we lived in New Jersey and I worked on fishing boats since I was 10 but I never knew of anybody who ate them, probably because we caught so many blue crabs back then. We'll have to give them a try. Thanks for Watching

      When we were young we went crabbing often and caught hundreds of spider crabs, they were considered trash. Back then I never heard of anyone eating them and I worked on commercial fishing boats. Probably because there were so many Blue Crabs back then. We'll have to try them and forget the old days lol.       That's right but it can be deceiving because you measure them point to point. We had some crabs a couple of days ago that measured 8 inches but some of the 7 inch crabs were actually larger because they had smaller points and were a lot heavier. Thanks a lot for Watching

      @TheOldCoupleOutdoors In Japan, they don't stay small. They grow to be giants. Believe it or not, the record snow crab had a leg span of 3.7 meters (12 feet). Can you imagine e? One leg would feed a family. Their meat is described as sweet and firm, tasting much like the dungeness or blue crab. I bet Joyce will be kicking herself for throwing them back. 😄 They're ugly critters, but take the carapace off before you cook them, and they're much easier to look at. They have funny legs. They are completely round, not like most other crabs.
