Brussel sprouts are yum. Love the crab fishing. You never know what you will get. I would be curious about the spider crabs being good to eat. Their appearance is a little off-putting. Keep the videos coming. We love them.
Rowdy we might try the spider crabs but they don't look like they have very much meat. For years we always thought them back. And we also like brussel sprouts. Thanks again for Watching
I'm from Canada west coast and my husband and I love crabing and fishing together. We love your fishing and husband says it's like watching us and you act like us to.Hubby says keep up doing it all.
Pretty good haul guys. Joyce, I put Tony’s on just about everything too. Just love the seasonings. Wow, nice looking dinner. Thanks for another great crabbing/fishing adventure.
Hey Joyce! You pronounced it perfectly!! 😂. And obtw Sam, been subscribed for a while now and I always hit that thumbs up even before I watch the video because I know it's going to be a good one! Y'all take care!
Absolutely love your videos and adventures the two of you make. Steam/boil whatever you like, I'm from Southeast Louisiana and brussel sprouts are part of my boils among other veggies. 🦀🦀🦀🦀
We're glad you enjoy our videos. The first time I had brussel sprouts in a boil was at a crawfish boil in Biloxi, it was a competition so they had a lot of different recipes. Thanks again for Watching
Appreciated not seeing you break off the stone crab's claw. I can take most things, but somehow I feel bad about it especially if you take both claws. Thanks, Sam. Joyce is sure a hard working partner. Delicious dinners are a great reward at the end of the day.
One again your videos make my day crabed at the tomoka state park with no luck at all in a few spots. So we turned to baby sitting grand kids and golfing.😅😅😅😅😅 keep the videos coming ❤
I love your videos and my husband and I love Brussel sprouts! We cook them in a pan with a little bacon grease. I’d love to see a video on how Joyce makes her homemade bread and rolls. Those always look delicious.
Thank you guys so much for showing your fun crabbing and fishing days!! So Jealous that you guys are still doing all of this while us Marylanders have to sit and wait until next Year (June at the earliest) before we see some good crabs!! Cheers my friends!
For future reference... Spyder crabs are every bit as good to eat as blue crabs. They do not have as much meat but what they have (legs and body) is sweater than the one in the blue. Cleaning and cooking is exactly the same as blue crabs. I enjoy your adventures and share your fun. Keep it up.
When we lived in New Jersey I caught hundreds of spider crabs and I did some commercial fishing but I never knew of anybody who ate them, that's why we threw them back, they were considered trash. We'll have to try them. Thanks a lot for Watching
Great to see you both... I have watched all your videos and had to go out and get somes blue crabs... Boy was I disappointed in them. So small I just brought home for bait...
Nice on those crabbies..The spider crabs arent worth a flip as far as I am concerned. I am from Long Island originaaly, used to throw them for distance whenever I caught em.. Keep up the good work!!!
James, When I lived in New Jersey I caught hundreds of them over the years, nobody I knew kept or ate them, like you said they were just trash. Also I never ate sharks, sea robin, dog sharks or monkfish, there were too many good fish. We might cook a spider crab sometime just to see what people see in them. Thanks again for Watching
Just curious, how do you get the old bay seasoning into the crabs 🦀 when you steam them, I'm just partial to boiling them, but I agree with Joyce, keep all your pan fish 🐟, but keep the videos coming.
There are a lot of different opinions concerning stone crabs. I still think they're better off than blue crabs at least the stone crabs have a chance. That's why it doesn't bother me to take two large claws. Thanks a lot for Watching we appreciate it.
Well that was a pretty good day. I have a question, I've never been crabbing before and I was wondering is there a difference in the quality and flavor of the crabs depending on location?
Thanks, yes they do taste a little different but I have a hard time telling the difference, Joyce can tell the difference better than I can, the crabs that we caught in the Halifax River taste the best to me and Joyce agreed. The crabs we catch in the St Johns River taste a little different but are good. The other saltwater crabs including the ones in Mississippi taste the same to me but Joyce says she can tell the difference. Thanks a lot for Watching
I have never caught or eaten Spyder crabs but if I caught them I would give them a try. Just clean off the barnacles the cook as a blue crab. They look like they’d have sweet meat in the legs for sure
I caught hundreds of them when we lived in New Jersey and I worked on fishing boats since I was 10 but I never knew of anybody who ate them, probably because we caught so many blue crabs back then. We'll have to give them a try. Thanks for Watching
When we were young we went crabbing often and caught hundreds of spider crabs, they were considered trash. Back then I never heard of anyone eating them and I worked on commercial fishing boats. Probably because there were so many Blue Crabs back then. We'll have to try them and forget the old days lol. Thanks for Watching
the crabs in the St. John's and the Gulf and anywhere don't stand a chance against you 2 😂 is the such a thing as a good crab soup ? Maybe you could show us amateurs 9ut here a good crab soup recipe Sam and Joyce ❤
There was a guy crabbing for them in ocean City MD catching them saying he would eat the claws basically preparing them the way you would the stone crabs
People also ask How old is a 5 inch blue crab? Blue crabs reach maturity at approximately 12 to 18 months of age, growing to approximately five inches wide.
That's right but it can be deceiving because you measure them point to point. We had some crabs a couple of days ago that measured 8 inches but some of the 7 inch crabs were actually larger because they had smaller points and were a lot heavier. Thanks a lot for Watching
Gail, we have 2 bottles of hand sanitizer in the truck one on the driver's side and one on the passenger side. We both had salmonella (from a restaurant) and it was nasty. Thanks again for Watching
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors yipes! i only got food poisoning once that i know of and it was last may. i ate some “sketchy” walmart brand sour cream and was like the walking dead the next day. lol
@TheOldCoupleOutdoors In Japan, they don't stay small. They grow to be giants. Believe it or not, the record snow crab had a leg span of 3.7 meters (12 feet). Can you imagine e? One leg would feed a family. Their meat is described as sweet and firm, tasting much like the dungeness or blue crab. I bet Joyce will be kicking herself for throwing them back. 😄 They're ugly critters, but take the carapace off before you cook them, and they're much easier to look at. They have funny legs. They are completely round, not like most other crabs.
Another lovely meal! Always enjoy your catching, cooking and tasting of your seafood!
Thanks Mike
