In Toronto they are storing compressed air in balloons under Lake Ontario! It is installed now and it costs 1/10th the cost of batteries. efficiency is comparable to Lithium battery storage too.
Really cutting edge technology when this was made. The chemical battery storage came of age one year after the Southern Australia Tesla battery went online. Still remember the storage we've had since the 80's pumped storage, Germany breaking ground on a wind pumped storage same facility. pumped storage is also already deployed in the fly over states. Has California reallocated the peaker plants? Is Southern California Edison a potential buyer for PG&E?
Sir if we wanted to set-up power storages.in country....how can we contact to you can I get you company email Id ....I am from India ....... Basically I am doing research on how to power storage so I like you are concept....
gee whizz no kiddy we need energy storage with wind and solar WOW . This was so predictable 30 years ago. wind and solar can take 10% of the grid without instabilty problems. wind has at best a capacity factor of 33% at best average is 25% Solar has 20% at best 12 % average. To supply 1 Gw (1000 Mw) of power at above 95% capacity factor from wind you need 4 Gw of wind 1 of the 4 the remaining 3Gw has to be stored at near 100% efficiency because 66% of the time the wind is not blowing. so do we have a garontee the wind will blow 1 day out or 3 forever! Therefor what is the cost of 4Gw of wind with 3 days to store all this extra energy. compare that TOTAL cost with one nuclear plant at 1Gw power at above 95% capacity factor. please check out www.roadmaptonowhere.com and download the PDF at bottom of this web site.

does anyone know what disadvantages are there for an energy storage facility? any safety implications?
awesome! well done! Clear story!
Here it is 2 years later and now solar/wind+storage is on par with LNG generation for cost.
Even.. We all discover some nice technological idea 💡 for renewable ENERGY sources for our PLANET 🌍.... SAVE ECO SYSTEM... SAVE EARTH 🌍
THAT'S MOST IMPORTANT FOR OUR FUTURE..... That is bess of renewable energy........
What about heavy industry that require very large a mounts of power electric steel furnaces aluminum manufacture ect ect Crickets
