I absolutely love watching your travels, especially all three of you together going on adventures. The Afghan people are the most strong people in the world, fighting off empire after empire. Afghanistan is known as the place where “Empires Go To Die.” Now only if the American people were United together like the Afghans are, we would have a free country again. Be well Ben, Cat, & Bald! - Jason/Freedom Fighter Until Death/Vermont, FRA (‘FRA’, meaning “The Failed Republic Of America”)
A few years back I drove the entire pamir highway along the wakhan and up to the highest point at 4655m. Spectacular scenery and super friendly people. I would recommend anyone to visit if you have the opportunity.
Incredible stuff Ben, two different worlds from across the border a river separates two different worlds. Please keep up the amazing content, you Bold and Cat are great. Amazing stuff. Regards, Niv and Neha
Really good to see you adventuring again . Great the way you split up and both do your own content with your own flavour . Two different posts for the price of one ! 👌
i have been to Afghanistan as a Uk citizen , you don't need to avoid the Taliban they wont hurt you , i don't agree with anything they do or stand for but the worst they will do is make an inconvenience by asking you to go drink tea or take selfies with you , you have nothing to fear , type into RUclips travel to Afghanistan there is a Turkish ? / Muslim man who visits it there is also a white American who visits the most dangerous places in Afghanistan , everyone is very friendly
I documented all of the Pamir highway to Kyrgyzstan and you mentioned it’s one of the best journey’s, for me it was most brutal. After Kalaikhum the road turns into a nightmare and distance between cities increases.
🎉🎉🎉 Just got to say that my first comment was at the very beginning. But now that I’m at the end I’ve got to thank you for filming such beautiful places. It’s amazing how Just across the river is another world 🌎. And Kat has got to be the BEST travel buddy EVER 👍❗️ Everything was simply beautiful 🤩. Thanks again for everything you do and share. Hi Ben!! Thank you for this Video! Always enjoy seeing you, Kat and Mr. Bald on these wild adventures!! Keep up the good works! Rob Allen and Family in Thailand! 😀😀😀😎👍👍👍😉🌴🐘🐒🐒🐘🌴
Ben, you keep saying Afghan locals, they are also ethnic Tajiks, greater affinity to Tajikistan than Afghanistan, only divided by a border created by Western and Soviet colonial powers. Reason, why this market makes complete sense...
What "colonial" powers ?. So why do todays Tajikistan not open the borders completely to Afghanistan ?. There is nothing stopping them. They can decide it totally themselves.
@user-km6zv1dj1kAccording to your logic Americans and Brits don’t speak the same language 😂. Persian is spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan in their own accents. Afghan singers constantly collaborate with Tajik singers. Must be difficult to sing and compose together in “two different languages” 😂 You mention the USSR and lost culture but the argument can be made that today Tajikistan and its government are doing more than Iran and Afghanistan to preserve Iranic/Persian culture. I’ve spent my entire life with Afghan Tajiks and I have never heard any mocking. They’re separated brothers and sisters. I’m sorry that seeing Tajiks united scares you so much you spread misinformation. Maybe spend more time focusing on your brothers and sisters in Pakistan?
@@CiceroXVX well said Man, i see you are one of fee who is well aware of things going on in this buzzer region. We definetly do more preserving Persian culture because Tajikistan unlike Iran and Afghanistan is a secular country, the religion has nothing to do in government's issues

An interesting comment from Backpacker Ben at 5:03 - "here in Tajikistan, we pretty much can do whatever we want". Tajikistan, like Afghanistan, has a very authoritarian regime - although having said that, given a binary choice between staying in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, I know which country I would prefer (spoiler alert: it's not Afghanistan).
Hey Ben.. Did you know that Harald Baldr in his newest video, has got himself a KAT.. and Italian KAT.. looks something like your Kat but Italian... We all like your KAT.. :)
This really is an awesome place. The new iPhone is dead handy for ridiculous zooms. Mine has come in handy a few times for seeing things I can barely see with my own eyes! It's always fun when you and bald do something together and we get both perspectives and editing styles.
You and Bald have to get onto Rogan. There are very few people that have been around like y'all that aren't working for an agency and I guarantee that would make for an awesome episode. If you don't I assume you are part of an agency.
Ben that Taliban photo your lady friend took is amazing! You can have it as a book cover of your travels in the region or inside a page of the book no joke.
Ben ! I'm a huge fan and love your videos. I've read a lot about central Asia and would like to visit someday. I'm not wealthy so I was curious what suggestions you'd have for someone who want's to say "screw it" and go?
Great video, was looking out for this, Mr Bold said the local doctor earns $100 a month, your hotel cost more than 10% of that for just one night - imagine that in the UK ... it's crazy! Another country I shan't be visiting in my lifetime, with you as my eyes and ears I don't need to either!!
Per the government of Canada's official travel advice website, there's a risk of landmines at the border with Afghanistan, especially on roadside ditches, shoulders, and unmarked trails, the very places you guys went 😅
Hey Ben, good timing for my 1am supper in the only desert in Canada, Osoyoos B.C. How about vlogs from QUETTA & MELENA, those 2 parts of Spain on the African continent.... Has Kat ever been there? Now to watch your adventure....

Эти границы были проведены англичанами и русскими. Разделили брата от брата, сестры от сестры
A border created and imposed on them by people and nations thousands of miles away is what separates them.
