    “….and you want to go to coffee….” Spoken like a true Seaman.

      When I started sailing... I was like coffee? Then I realized it was more a social thing and a good way to find out the "happenings around the ship". 😉

    Jesus Christ! Some of those those ships weren’t even built when I was with MSC PAC.Good advice.Things have changed so much.And yes,in a foreign port keep a low profile.

    The part I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my mind around is traveling so heavy. Do I just need to be content with the idea that my luggage will be overweight and thus paying fees for that? Like most people, I've only utilized air travel for a week's stay here and there, not with 4 month's worth of necessities in tow. I appreciate the insights of anyone in the position to knowledgably chime in on these questions. Thanks

    Im 17 and want to join the MSC after I graduate high school ,do you think this is a good idea or should I stick to plan A and go to college ?

      I would talk it over with your parents, school guidance counselor and any mentors you have. There is much research, options and investments to be made in whichever way you go in life. Best of luck in your future young man!

    Shower Shoes bruh... On a navy ship sharing the shower with 50 other jarheads, there was NO telling what the hell them fools was doing in that shower.

    Thanks for your content, incredibly helpful! Can you be an officer for MSC if you have a chronic illness that requires one to take medication (diabetes, for example).

    • @thewanderingmariner
      @thewanderingmariner  5 месяцев назад +2

      I think it depends on the type/stage/and meds for diabeties (Type 1 or 2)(pre-diabetic or diabetic) medications... (metformin or insulian) and has if it's been proven to be under control. Also, the positions you are applying too require different physicals. I.E. entry level is differnt than a STCW postition. Best to reach out to MSC and inquire.

    I’m 36 looking for a career change. I’m VERY interested in getting into the MSC. I spent 4 years in the Navy from 2007 to 2011 aboard the uss john c Stennis. I’m having trouble figuring out if I am only eligible to be a OS or do i qualify for something higher since I have sea time under my belt. Thanks!

    I'm confused about the part where you mentioned Google fi internet. I have Google fi as my phone plan. Are you talking about the Wi-Fi hotspot feature? I can't picture that working in the middle of the ocean

      😄, You will not have access when at sea. Only in ports or when close to shore. Sorry for any confusion 😕

    Do you know of any colorblind merchant mariners at MSC?

    • @thewanderingmariner
      @thewanderingmariner  5 месяцев назад

      IDK, because I never asked or came across anyone with color deficiencies. I would look at the position you are looking at. I know that could be a issue for watch standing and light recognition. I would look at the specific position you are interested and check the coastguard medical tab under medical certificates.
