Schrödinger's top card of the deck: It's both Flash and Reanimate Dead at the same time, until you decide which one you play for in which case it stops being the one you need.
Doomsday+reanimate, this oughta be interesting.
Game 1: that sure was interesting
I was wondering the whole time how that worked bc it didn’t make sense to me, and yeah ig it happens to the best of us
I looked up Doomsday as it happened ... I read the whole card ... like twice ... but LSV hypnotized me!! 🤣 ... I kept thinking: "How's he gonna draw?? ... oh, he has "Chart a Course "in his graveyard! How silly of me!" 🤣
@@ryanrodrigues5355 he definitely talk no jutsu’d us
Fireblast inevitability aside… I think Chart A Course was the card you were looking for in your Doomsday pile in Round 2.
make the following “pass the turn” pile:
-brainstorm
-LED
-chart a course
-Thassa’s Oracle
- X
Untap, draw and cast Brainstorm, put back land & Oracle. Cast Chart, crack LED for UUU, draw Oracle and Land, discard Land. Cast Oracle.
Thanks for all the super fun cube content.
I found a setup that wins 62.5% of the times for game 1 at 22:00, there are probably better ones that outright win but this was kind of funny.
You cast rain of filth, you have 9 mana left, use 3 black to doomsday for swamp, swamp, dark ritual, led, one ring.
With the 6 mana left you cast time spiral, nothing to untap, and you have a total of 8 cards in deck + hand (the 5 doomsday ones, oracle will and mystical in hand), so spiral will leave one card on top and you have no lands.
Here if yawg, led, or ritual is the card left in deck you lose, so 3/8, but if it's any other one you go swamp, ritual, led, yawg sac led in response, led again from the graveyard, thassa's oracle if it's not the only card in the deck, and if it is the top card you can one ring to draw one and cast it since you have 6 mana from the led
Obv if spiral draws opponent into a counter with a single blue it's gg too, but what can you do
This is at least the best line involving Doomsday. The only card that can draw cards post Doomsday is actually Time Spiral, since Jar draws too many (too bad we have Oracle, not Jace :P) and Doomsday and Chart a Course are both sorceries, so no stack shenanigans. After that you have 0 mana as mentioned, so you need a basic, LED is not possible right away, since no card can be cast from the graveyard. Island doesn't go anywhere since all cards for U are not helpful, so Swamp dark ritual is the way to go. Then you can use Yawgwill or corpse dance to put LED to use. But corpse dance needs Thassa's Oracle in hand for a 4/8 winrate only. Now if you don't use LED, Corpse Dance and YawgWill don't do anything, so the only combination that does anything at all is Entomb+Animate Dead into Thassa's Oracle which only works if Thassa's Oracle is not in your hand.
The one ring dunking on time walk was very entertaining
Opponent cast Time Walk and I was like "Wait...TOR says until the end of next turn, not your upkeep, right? WotC surely wouldn't make something that fucking stupid."
@@nekrataali It must be upkeep, because they want the card to have symmetrical effect in EDH.
I love that you will draft and show these decks, because I’m scared of them. 😂 if I play a deck like this, I will either time out or punt and lose.
There are a fair number of cards that I simply won't take...not ashamed to admit that I'm just too dumb ;)
@@frantz2000 That's why I stopped playing both Lands and Doomsday in legacy.
but propably both...
Doomsday is one of the most difficult cards to play. It's impressive to see you coming up with lines on the fly.
You never have to say sorry when casting doomsday even when it goes bad, and especially in cube.
The Flash draw game 1 was one of your better called shots of this series
this is the most LSV deck we've seen in a while. great stuff!
This deck is born from the same mind who won matches in vintage as a storm deck where the tendrils of agony wasn’t even in the 75. I remember hearing this lsv story on LR quite some time ago (or maybe I’m misremembering the source).
He also did that in a cube draft. The chat was getting on his case about not prioritizing win cons. He then got passed a Tendrils, took it, but refused to put it in the deck and still 3-0'ed. It was sick.
You (And your deck) sure made things hard for you this draft 😂. Love the positive attitude you manage to keep which is one of the reasons you are a GOAT content creator.
In game 1 of match 3, you could just entomb tendrils for the easy win I think. I can see how the animate dead makes one tunnel vision Atraxa though 😊.
at 46:00 if you entomb for tenrdils instead of atraxa isn't it just won on the spot?
yes, he missed it
Bro I panicked watching that
I caught that, too. I think he may have forgotten that Entomb gets any card and not just a creature, which is understandable since it is mainly used for setting up creature reanimation.
@25:00~ Need to bust out Notepad and map out all these lines like Stephen Menendian does lmao
Thanks for all the adventures, Luis. Great videos!
Handsdown the best. The breach lotus led deck was just too good, seeing somebody work is just amazing.
As Time Walks go, that has to be about the least threatening one I've ever seen! 😆
I love how good you’ve been making Yawg Will look lately! Back in the day passing LSV yawg will was a death sentence and it might just still be 😮
I love when Yawg Will gets to shine. It's so cool when it works, and I wasn't playing when it was printed so I don't have any kind of attachment to it other than it being a sick card.
I wish this deck got a shelldock Isle, it would've been the best shelldock Isle I've ever seen
these types of decks are so much fun to watch
Really fun deck, some bad luck but that's magic. One of those decks that I love watching you pilot because I would have timed out of every match, and you have considered and discarded lines I want even aware of in a matter of minutes.
at 25:00 i was questioning myself because of what you were saying and then i was rereading the card as you made the play and talked about it :P doomsday is a hard card - got my first win with it the other day though and its *so* satisfying when it works
Kinda insane that there are decks out there that are even for PRO players hard to pilot.
Storm getting to easy? Try this unpowered doomsday reainimate storm deck!
I think I found a line that wins in game 1 of match 1. Not perfect but the best I could find.
Rain of filth (6B, 3U). Tap swamp, sac 2 swamps play doomsday, hold priority (3B, 3U). Crack jar hold priority. Cast mystical for frantic search (3B, 2U). Draw the 7.
Doomsday pile - brain storm/chart, LED (island if draw emrakul off jar), Oracle, 2 don't matters. If you draw cards from the jar you need for doomsday, you could always just keep your hand and put meaningless cards on top. If you draw emrakul off of the jar, the LED play doesn't work so instead you choose island for LED. Play land if island in hand else play frantic search (min 4 mana/2U). Keep LED/island and brainstorm. Play LED/island, play brainstorm, hold priority crack LED for blue. draw the 3 cards put back 2 not oracle. Play Oracle win?
Obviously doesn't work if they draw into free counter but I think spell pierce could be played around potentially as long as you don't draw emrakul.
You always draft the sickest decks that only you can pilot.
Daily dose of amazement. Thanks!
I think everybody would really like if you made a video in the future going over your cube card rankings in a more formal way.
Doomsday drafts are the best, always crazy games and lines
This looked like it was fun to play.
I am glad they added doomsday to the vintage cube. It makes some great decks!
"Xander's Place to Chill" is what I'm calling Xander's Lounge from now on
@21:35 the only Doomsday line that draws cards on the same turn is hilariously using Time Spiral. You can cast Rain of Filth for a total of nine mana to cast Doomsday then Time Spiral, hopefully drawing into Swamp Dark Ritual Entomb Animate Dead. This only works if the last card in deck is Thassa's Oracle though so you have a 1/8 chance of winning.😂
Wait, I'm confused. Cast Doomsday then Time Spiral? Doomsday only leaves 5 cards in your library and Time Spiral draws 7 cards, right? Wouldn't that just deck you unless you had Flash + Thassa's? I'm not sure where the math of 8 cards where the Oracle can be your last card.
Ah, ye olde Emrakul/Doomsday deck. A cube staple
Lsv never going to forget if thopter foundry/sword of the meek was passed again
casting flash to bait a counter was hilarious
Ikr, even though it didn't work, still felt like a 1000 IQ play to me.
Ive been waiting for a doomsaday deck, lets goooo
He already had a great one in the last week or two
@@codetaku I thought I've seen his new ones, I guess I missed it
let’s get locked in. Let’s get involved.
I think at 1:00:00 if you doomsday for Frantic search, Atraxa, animate dead, thassas oracle, island in that order:
You draw frantic search, play it, discard atraxa and swamp, untap lands, cast animate dead leaving up 1 island, get thassas oracle and an island, play island, play thassas, win game.
The point is somewhat moot because of what ended up happening but I think that's the best option there?
That looks like a good line. I was thinking One Ring, Frantic Search, Island, Island, Oracle. Play swamp and ring to blank them for a turn. Draw through the deck and win the following turn.
Coolest deck in a minute
49:15 untapping creeping tar pit rather than island really did emrakul dirty
Huge respect for Doomsdaying again!
17:37 I would be regretting the rain over Urbog pick so badly here and would swap them straight up. Can't wait to watch to games to see what would be better in the moment.
18:50 Urborg I think would have straight up won here. Doomsday untap and win basically.
EDIT: Basically every time after this Rain of Filth was insane and overall much better than Urborg.
Thoughts on discarding to hand size m2g1 (around 40:00) after playing your first land?
Obviously feels kinda bad on the play but it does still make for a fairly fast Atraxa. I've seen CalebD advocate for this before, arguing that discarding to hand size on the play is sometimes worthwhile when you're reanimator
My brain is too small to handle this deck.
It was. a beautiful deck
I think there was an argument for picking Urborg over Rain of Filth there, to tie the High Tide Doomsday deck together. That said Rain is a sick card and it's fair to give it a try
Doomsday makes fools of all of us. The second I cast it i forget whatever line I had
how does one ring + time vault works? Can you bank in an extra turn while still being protected?
I think so, yeah. If you have protection from the one ring and you choose to untap time vault instead of beginning your next turn, then your opponent will take another turn while you still have protection, and then you will start your next turn with an untapped time vault.
this was a brain melter
Was waiting for the realization bomb to land the whole first game lol. Reading the card explains the card. I would've used Jar.
45:30 We had 6 storm, couldn't we have just Entombed for Tendrils and skipped a whole lot of steps? Instead of Entombing for Atraxa and reanimating it, I think we could have just Entombed for Tendrils, played Yawg Will, replayed any one mana spell like Rain of Filth, then cast Tendrils out of the graveyard.
The Doomsday around 58:00, I was thinking the whole time you could just put The One Ring on top, play it next turn, then have Duress/Thassa's up with 0 cards in deck on the next turn with the ring protection keeping us alive. Editing this, looks like we died either way, but I think this line is pretty good?
I was thinking the same thing. "Looks like we don't have any good card draw in here" lol
I believe the correct line was frantic search, atraxa Animate dead, thassa oracle, island. Play search, discard swamp and atrax, Animate dead atraxa - take island and oracle. Play island Play oracle
@@OnlineMarathons good one
52:52 to be fair you have 1 flash x 2 reanimate spells in deck...so 50% more chance to draw a reanimate, so discarding troll instead atraxa was wrong
My God - what a complicated Deck :-P
Pet for no spoiler thumb
lmao that Flash draw sent me.
Love when he calls his outs and gets BTFO'd by his own calls lmao
Still wondering, though, if he should have just flashed Oracle into play and let it go to the yard in order to draw a card since Doomsday was going to shuffle Oracle back into his library anyway.
@@nekrataali oracle doesn't draw cards just puts up to one on top.
@@Robert-mx1io Ah my bad. You know what I mean, though. You get some value out of the flash instead of having both cards do nothing while you try and resolve Doomsday.
Can someone explain why game 1 LSV didn’t just doomsday, play Oracle, then crack jar?
drawing 7 with 5 cards left in deck is a loss
So I learn, can LSV cast Oracle w trigger on the stack crack Memory Jar to win?
Came here to ask the same question
Think you lose to the draw before the Oracle trigger resolves
Not unless you have exactly 7 cards in your library because you can't cast Oracle between drawing cards with Memory Jar. If you play Oracle and respond to it with Jar, you'll just draw 7 cards then lose the game as a state-based action.
The only way to play Oracle between Jar drawing cards as far as I know would be with an effect like Chains of Mephistopheles, which replaces each draw and allowing you to respond to the 6th. card being drawn by casting Oracle with Chains' trigger on the stack. Of course, you'd have still to discard 5 cards 🤔🤔😬
r1g3 lsv ending sequence, if escoe didnt know about lsv's last card in hand (tendrils), he should cast pyrokinesis (instant) with his 6 untapped lands to kill off thassa's oracle, b4 its ability resolve, thus preventing lsv from winning via oracle.
(granted lsv's gon win via tendrils off sacking lands as a followup)
LSV duressed the Pyro. Opp had 0 cards in hand
@@danieljackson4580 tyvm. its my bad.
Lsv thinking we all seeing that the Doomsday line with the graveyard doesn't work while we were totally all along for the ride 😂
Hahaha, I definitely was along for the ride.
Trying to figure out a doomsday pile is what magic is all about.
Does this video have more background noise than usual or is it just because I am watching on my phone at full volume versus normally on my laptop at mid volume?
Speaking of 'background noise', is there any chance you do a draft with Gaby again? I used to love some of the shenanigams you two got into on her stream.
@@Vuurgeest Ikr, it would be cool to have Gabby on every once and a while, I miss their energy together.
last pick troll is why I prefer the team drafts, that's just silly.
I take it back this was incredible gas.
The first doomsday you picked one of each card type but that's not a requirement is it?
No, hahaha I was looking at that sideways, myself.
24:20 ez w
What happens when you cast Doomsday and then crack jar?
Death
You're never gonna forgive yourself for that Cabal Rit are you?
First comment :D
So, this is the time of the day!!!!
I've been kind of unimpressed with Doomsday in the cube this season. Requires investment in drafting niche cards that all become inflexible and worthless if you don't get the critical mass. Also very risky going down to 5 cards in library in a world of draw 7's and a high density of targeted draw effects. Both times my opponents went for doomsday this season I just decked them.
Entombsday?
Forth Algorithmus!
wait... game 1 / can't you just put whatever in the doomsday pile, cast Oracle, then Jar in response?
Ummm, with Thassa's Oracle, wouldn't you win with Memory Jar since you draw
That would work with Jace, it does not work with Thassa's Oracle (when you have 5 cards in library).
@@angltk maybe I should read the card, lol
For the algorithm!!!!!!
Couldn't he have won the first game if he had played the melfolk after Doomsday to finally break the memory jar and not be able to draw?
No, that's not the way Thassa's Oracle works. It only gives you the win through its ETB trigger, not any other way. It is not like Laboratory Maniac or Jace. The big upside is that if you have zero cards in library, killing Oracle does not stop you from winning, they have to counter the trigger. If you draw seven from Memory Jar with five cards in the library, you lose.
I have to say, I think I prefer watching midrange decks....I understand (mostly) what is happening. These kinds of decks I mostly just shake my head and lament how bad I am at this game.
This is why people don't like Doomsday, trying to figure out the pile after half a game of MTG just takes too long.
Beauty deck, horrible draws :(
.
4:44 Did you not see the Aetherflux Reservoir? Corpse Dance was a fine pick, but Reservoir is basically a 1-for-1 substitute for the Tendrils you were dying to wheel.
That is not true at all.
There's a huge difference between having to cast a 4 mana card at the beginning of your combo, and at the end. Especially if some of your spells double as your mana generators, like High Tide and Dark Ritual.
I saw it, it’s not good here
