I just had a funny thought. I was thinking, "Man, i wish i could afford a classic 911 like that. All i can afford is a new 911 Carrera T." 😂

In 1972 I loved my 1st Porsche 1970 914-6. It was a delight when I worked at Road Atlanta. Then I bought a1980 911 SC. Lowered it and it was It was awesome !! A true Road Hugger in the N.E. GA mountains. "Little Tail of the Dragon". I now have a (50K) 1999 996 Cabriolet and I truly love this one as well. Water cooled w/ great A/C. I live in the South. It gets HOT here. I'm 72 now and I keep my Porsches forever.

As an owner of a 1970 911 E I have to point out a correction. The 70 & 71 911's used an updated gearbox (the clutch actuation was different from earlier 901's). This gearbox is correctly identified as a 911. I'm surprised in a PCA video error was allowed.

You are correct, thank you for pointing out our error and clarifying. Sometimes errors get through even after several watches by PCA staff.

    I owned a 911 S 2.4 S 190 HP targa from 1972 from 1986 till 1994 I paid DM 11.000 at that time amazing performance!

I’ve driven a 1973.5 911T, and the early 911 is a special experience. Unless you really need the performance of a new 911, I’d prefer a long hood. Nice review.

So is this video going to be the lead in to other Targa videos? Hmmm, we wait and wonder.

Great review and I would agree to all but one comment to add from an owner of similar car is how tight these cars are-especially compared to other cars in the era. Build quality and driving feel is still outstanding.

Nice job Damon. Amazing early morning drive in Germany. The roads there are so smooth compared to where I live in South Oxfordshire, England and home country of County Kerry, Ireland ☘️

Truly a treat to be given the keys at 6:45 AM. Epic.

Three car related shows I always watch:
      1. PCA
      2. Motorweek
      3. Iain Tyrell classic workshop (UK).

My introduction to Porsche was when my neighbor brought home a brand new 1972 Aubergine 911S Targa. This episode brought back a bunch of fond memories. 😃
    Great video Damon! 👍

The E is a better driver on ordinary roads, and faster, because of the huge torque and tractable engine. Now the RS values I can understand, but why anyone would pay for a S 2x the price of an E is not easy to understand really.

I just saw a 1971 Albert Blue 911 Targa at a PCA event in Chandler, AZ. I think it was a 911E but not quite sure. Love the review. Keep up the great work.

Recommending you show the curb weight when showing the specs. Power-to-weight gives us an idea how it compares to other cars, old and new.

Nice job… a well dialed in long hood can certainly cast a spell on you. But be careful as there is no known cure!

Thank you for the review and giving me the opportunity to just close my eyes and listen to that early 911 engine rev up and down. I never owned a 911 (several 912s and 914s- teacher's salary you know) but I'm enamored with just listening and watching the early, air-cooled 911 experience. 😊

Great review Damon, although it’s absolutely terrifying watching you pull into traffic without your glasses on. 😵‍💫
