*DAVE KELLY* single-handedly had dancehall in a chokehold thru the whole 90's decade. Other producers do a thing here & there but it was unmatched to Kelly's work

@@tilted_notbroken950 You know how there's artists like Bruno Mars that go retro? That's the only way Dancehall can come back. Bruno introduced a whole generation to funk, jazz, and soul music. Jazz will never be mainstream again, but there are ppl still making it. I think that's what's going to happen to Dancehall. Same as those epic 90s RnB ballads. It's sad to think I lived long enough for Dancehall to expire. Or rather that Dancehall deteriorated so fast considering I'm not old, but I remember when Wayne Wonder, TOK, and Mr Vegas ran the place. And they are distinctly Dancehall artistes, not roots or reggae. There was a time when Dancehall wasn't strictly slackness. Now Vegas is a gossiping ninny that can't stop ranting online and pandering to foreigners, while TOK refuses to perform the best of their catalog 😅. By the time Dancehall's good season rolls back around I'll probably be a senior citizen and still drawing fi di 90s music over everything else.
