Thank you very much for the introduction and playing... I'm going to buy one and needed to hear the difference. I can't go wrong with either model but I'm a little torn between the two. Thanks again.
I’m going to neo classical shred all day on that little one. I ordered it from Sweetwater last night in Bourbon Burst or whatever that is. Can’t wait. Great demos man I was about to buy a similar priced Ovation I hope this one pans out. You and JP Cormier convinced me otherwise. \m/ \m/
@@JesseLBK Yep, I got one shortly after posting last year. Black, cutaway. I don't use it for gigs much, but after I set it up it has perfect intonation. It was not set up my the shop or yamaha at all I don't think. FYI I tried a bone saddle, but didn't like the sound, so got a spare from yamaha and cut it down to suit - low action now. I've often found over the years that black guitars have a thinner finish that helps the sound by the way. I just with the strap button was bigger. I talked to yamaha UK about this but they couldn't help. I may just have to fit another larger one next to the socket as I've done on my taylor. I've also been using lithium batteries and they give much longer and it seems better sound. Regards.
Can't decide if I mail order... I prefer the sounds of the FG size in this video but I'm certainly happy with my old falling apart APX that's the smaller size and it sounds nice enough to me. You are right about volume .. if I strum too loudly I don't want my neighbours hearing my overenthusiastic efforts at 11pm on a saturday night ;) It's a good video, I like fact you play same music on both, reviewers who do a comparison and do different styles of music are useless - you can't compare!
I have one APX700ii and I like small bodies guitars. I'm 5'11 and each guitar has those special features. The APX is great to play plugged and to stand up and play. The LS or FS should be my choice to play comfortably at home alone or with few friends. The bigger ones would be for gigs with more people. My wife also prefer small bodies. She is 5'3.
Hey folks you might wanna check out the LAG HyVibe guitar, as it will do the same thing and more as it has a built in looper function. Pete Thorn does a pretty good demo. Not to knock the Yamaha's Trans-acoustic, as I do own one, but the looper function really takes it to the next level when it's built in and automatic.
@@mdalikazi I'm glad that your are considering it. Play both of them because you never know once it's in your hands. Liking a guitar also comes down to feel and playability. Trying to find the perfect one all around is harder to find than most people think. Guitar hunting is fun but it takes time, but don't be too impulsive.
@@elliottevans4811 Yamaha has the TAG3 which has a built in looper, there is a few demos around. It seems one should not be in a rush to buy these days because every year is a new model change and sometimes it pays to wait until your 100% positive that's the one you want. See that - my last post was 2 yrs ago, see what I mean.
Great drool worthy guitars. I have been begging Yamaha for this for years, unfortunately now I have no extra cash! I hope they add delay in future models, like the competition.
Excellent review and comparison of two great guitars. On a personal note I have to disagree that the FG models are mainly for playing in large rooms or on stage, I love love love playing my larger body guitars at home and with small groups or small rooms. Everyone's a little different and that's just me...I enjoy all your videos...Cheers
China does an excellent job on these guitars. I have a FG450SA, AC3M, and ll-ta. Thinking about adding the FGC TA, AC5R Japanese made Yamaha or Mexican made Taylor 224ce-k to my collection next. China, Japan and Mexico do excellent work building these guitars.
As a strumming guitar, the FX makes these really nice guitars. However, if you're in to finger-picking and want that Martin-like woody low end in a comfortable size, the Yamaha AC3M is hard to beat.
I am torn as well. I like my ac3r and ac5r guitars and play an fgc800c i also like. I think the fg trans sounds fuller and more balanced then the fs. But the fs is closer to my ac3r or 5r guitars in shape. Both sound great snd you play amazing but i wish you played the exact same riffs on each and then spliced tgem side by side in the video but thats more time consuming i know. I know you said you like smaller and less weight but which plays and sounds better to you. They are diff scale lengths as well which makes a diff in playability snd 25 vs 25.5 is a pretty big diff to some players
Hey bro. I have the FG version - no cutaway. How was the sound compared to this cutaway version? Did you notice any tonal differences if any? Nice demo btw!

As always Jarvis, a beautifully done video. Thanks for all your videos.

My oldest Yamaha is about 40 years old, and I'm thinking of getting one of these. But I'm going to try them first in a shop.
It's a game changing experience. The neck is very comfortable as well. Plus the binded body and fretboard at an affordable price is nice too

Same as the other comments. Came for Yamaha, leaving with a new study on my hands: “where do I find a hyvibe to play in person.” Great info. Thanks!

Great sound, great player
do the FG-TA sounds like the fg820 ?
U❤what u do! FG830 demo,??
yes i do
Jarvis, did you have to lower the action on the LS36 too? How is the action on that? Why does a manufacturer generally keep action high? Thanks.
Well they setup the action right but due to humidity the top will swell a bit and you need to adjust compensate for the changes
Thank you for the comparison. You've helped me decide. BTW, what is the first song you started out with? It's beautiful.
