    I love this guitar. Without the effects it's my favourite guitar I've ever played. I've had Taylors and own a Martin. This Yamaha blows guitars costing 3 or 4 times more out of the water! I use the effects occasionally when writing and they're lovely but the pure guitar is what I love. The ARE makes it sound 'vintage'. I love this guitar too much to take to most gigs. I have a Takamine ef341sc which I use for most gigs, but once again, this guitar blows it out of the water!

    • @AndyDoveGuitar

      Ahh I totally agree it's a phenomenal guitar, yeah I have a fairly decent Taylor, and as great as it is, I've barely even touched it since owning the Yamaha. Very full sounding, and I just love the effects, but I totally know what you are saying! The quality of the guitar, at the price point, it's crazy, easily out plays other guitars at a higher price point like you say. Thank you ever so much for watching and taking the time to comment, glad to see some love for these brilliant guitars! 😁

      Do you gave any experience with the concert model LS-TA? I love the sound of this one, but I am not very comfortable with dreadnought sized guitars.

    • @AndyDoveGuitar
      @AndyDoveGuitar  3 года назад +3

      Heya, I actually recently tried out the FS-TA which is the smaller bodied guitar, and I must say I was really impressed. Totally get the big dreadnought body isn't for everyone, I'm used to it so don't notice it, but when I player the FS-TA it was quite refreshing. These guitars sound amazing in person, if you get a chance to try one out in a shop you'll know feel right for you. But my experiences with both the LL-TA and FS-TA has both been brilliant. Hope that helps, and thank you for watching! 😊

      @@AndyDoveGuitar thanks for your reply. As luck had it I got to play the LL-TA today, and to my surprise it wasnt that unwieldy. I also played the fs-ta. I liked both tbh. I expected the larger and wider fretboard and neck to hinder me, but it actually felt somewhat easier to me. Go figure...
      The action was set up muuuch better on the LL series than the FG/FS out of the box (or rather in the store).

      No problems at all, always happy to help and glad to hear it! Yeah you really have to try these things to know, totally agree I don't think the LL-TA is as bulky as people may think it is, but yeah great guitars, which one do you think you'll go for?

    I'm late to this party, but I just had to respond. Great video! Yesterday I went to Guitar Center intent on buying the newly introduced Martin 000-28e Modern Deluxe - a $4,600 guitar. I left the store with a Yamaha LS-TA. It is one of the best, most fun guitars I have ever played. Mind you, I have four expensive guitars: Martin Custom Shop D-45 with Italian spruce top and Madagascar rosewood back/sides; Martin D-41 Reimagined; Santa Cruz OM Grand; Taylor 812ce Deluxe 12-fret. I'm afraid they might just be going on the auction block now that I have the Yamaha LS-TA. I'm serious! This Yamaha blows my mind! I can't put it down. To answer some folks' question about the sound of the LS vs the LL, I am a bass player as well, so my need for the bottom end in an acoustic is vital. The LS-TA has it in spades! It is a very well-balanced guitar across the strings. Also the intonation is superb all the way up the neck. I fell in love with the guitar on first strum -- and I didn't even know about the reverb and chorus features. It is a marvelous instrument on its own without the effects. When I realized what it was and started dinking with the reverb and chorus my brain exploded. 🤯 I inspected the instrument from top to bottom and found it to be very well made with what look like premium materials. Then the price was revealed...WOW! It HAD to come home with me. I must say that one has to try this great instrument in person in order to have a full understanding and appreciation for what it is.

      Thank you so much for watching and you in-depth comment, sounds like you have some lovely Acoustics, but I'm totally the same, this Yamaha properly blew me away. I have actually since sold my Taylor acoustic, as I never picked it up over the Yamaha. Great build quality, and as you say a lovely balance to the sound. Those effects are infectious aren't they, certainly hard to turn off. I see they recently brought out a cutaway version too, so i may be tempted in future by one of those! Thanks again for watching and taking the time comment, really appreciate it and hope it helps others come to a decision on this great instrument! 🎸

      @@AndyDoveGuitar Wow! I'm impressed that you actually read my comment and responded to it! So often those who make YT videos don't respond to viewers' remarks. To respond to your response... Yes, it is true that Yamaha is coming out with cutaways in both dreadnought and concert sized models. I too am interested in the those instruments, however they are mahogany bodied instruments, not rosewood. It will be interesting to play/hear the difference between those and our rosewood bodied models. They are also less expensive than the rosewood models. Can't wait to try one! BTW...I love your very musical playing style!

    I bought one of these brand new from Yamaha in London, and I remain delighted by it.
    My only gripes are:
    1) the heavy gloss shiny finish. I would have preferred a thinner Matt finish, but that's not available for this guitar.
    2) it's very heavy, both to carry around and to play standing up. Sitting down, of course you don't notice it.
    Other than those things, it is absolutely brilliant, and offers a range of sounds, as beautifully demonstrated in this video.

    I own this guitar. It has excellent resonance and tone just straight up all by itself without effects. Add the effects and it is exactly as Andy says. I play on the couch for hours and never turn them off. It is heavier and beefier than my other dreads. Not as twitchy as some of my other guitars and I like putting slightly lighter strings on this one to get the same feel. Great strummer and arppegios. The build quality punches far above both its weight and price point. If you have a few acoustic guitars you will pick this guitar up for its distinct sound, either dry or with effects. Of all my guitars it is either #1 or #2 depending on what day and what Im playing. Good video with accurate representation of its qualities.

    I have a Yamaha FSC-TA, sounds and plays great. It actually make s the guitar a little louder. Ahaa i do online lessons if you ever liked 🤣 but honestly I absolutely love this Guitar. I've had many acoustics over the years, some fairly high end Taylor's I've not sold as I just prefer this guitar. Even without the effects it's a great sounding Acoustic, but it's hard to say no to a bit of reverb and chorus isn't it! Hope you manage to get a good deal, let me know how you get on! 😎

    I was interested in buying a guitar like this Andy . But I was looking at a lag hyvibe . How does this compare to the hyvibe ? I know it's a better brand . But how do they compare . And prices wise ? Btw absolutely loved the 80s section . Went straight to def leppard 😎✊️ . Did I hear some awesome alterbridge just before . Love alterbridge and myles kennedy

    Great video! Have you tried the LS TA to compare? The smaller size appeals to me but I’m unsure which will give the best sound for, songwriting, recording and finger picking.

      Heya Ben, sorry for the slow reply, sadly I haven't tried the smaller models, only experience is with this one. Would be interesting to know, I would assume for recording, most people prefer smaller guitars that don't have such a big bottom end (which is normally EQ'd out in a mix) so generally people say smaller bodied guitars are perfect to record over a bigger bodied guitar which may be too boomy for the song. Again depends so much on the style and dynamics of the player, but generally I find the bigger bodies are better for fuller strumming playing and smaller bodies more comfortable, and suit more finger picking. Again a bit of a generalisation, but hopefully it helps. Best thing to do is get down to a shop and have a play, let me know what you decide on if you haven't already, thank you again for watching 😁🎸

      @@AndyDoveGuitarThanks Andy, I wasn’t able to get out to any guitar shops because of lockdown, but I took the risk and ended up getting the LS-TA. It’s sounds awesome, even without the effects. I’ve found a lot of concert guitars can sound a bit too bright but this has got a lovely warm tone. It’s a good all rounder, sounds great for strumming, fingerpicking and recording. And then the effects especially the reverb, wow! I’ve hardly put it down in 2 months! 😄

    Question: How would you rate it for exclusively fingerstyle players? Also I'm very curious how the action is... a bit on the higher side or lower? (I always prefer lower but haven't really been able to get an answer on that from anyone)

    • @AndyDoveGuitar
      @AndyDoveGuitar  3 года назад +5

      Heya, it's a brilliant guitar, and I find I can finger pick with good results. The action was decent right away, I'm more of a hard hitter so I prefer slightly higher action so I can really dig into the strings, but you could easily file down the bridge a little to take it down if you wanted. I think it's commonly thought that dreadnought guitars are better for strumming as the bigger body suits the full sound, and that people prefer to finger pick on smaller body styles that have a less bass heavy sound to them. Again I think that is a bit of a generalisation, but this is a bit of an all rounder. If you can get to a shop to try one out for yourself that'll be the best way on knowing if it suits you or not. It's deffinitley a great guitar for the money! 😎🎶

      Heya thanks for watching, great question, yeah I've gigged with this guitar through a PA loads and it's great, nice to have control of your reverb level on the guitar too. I guess it totally depends on your playing style as to how it's going to sound, and again you have no bass/treble controls on the guitar, so any EQ etc you'll have to do on the PA desk, but just bring honest I've never felt the need to mess about with it, just plug in, get my reverb level set good to my taste and play, hope that helps, it's a great guitar! 🎸

    Hi Andy, great review and great playing.
    Just something I'd feel remiss if I didn't highlight ...
    Your left should tightens and rises on a few of the passages in Dee.
    I don't mean this in a derisive or mean-spirited way, I'm only pointing it out because you may not have noticed it yourself.
    My guitar teacher repeatedly laid into me specifically over this until he broke the habit and it was probably the best thing he ever did for me.
    All the best.
