If not that why bother with your comment if you aren't will to have healthy and enlightening discourse. I ask you this. Don't you find it odd that this season we have seen more overtimes than ever? Games were penalty calls aren't being made throughout the whole game or some games where that's all they are doing is calling penalties to slow the game down. It is clearly favoring one team over another to keep the games close for as long as possible. They play to make money, but we watch for the honest competition. If that goes away they will lose fan base like you wouldn't believe. They are playing a fine line to make as much revenue back as possible but this game make the possibility of game fixing way greater. It brings it into the light greatly. Just think about what I said and look into yourself if you don't see it so be it. But when it comes to money you cant rule out the NFL wouldn't do this. Review what I said and research. @@egondro9157 I don't understand how you can argue that the game should have ended. If the official made the mistake, then the clock would not run. He spiked it originally with time on the clock. I don't care about either of these teams, but you can't tell me that if your favorite team (and it appears to be the Steelers) tried to snap and spike the ball the way that happened -- and then because the ball was spotted wrong that they should be penalized for it. Although it was abnormal how it played out, the outcome was exactly what should have happened -- with the clock getting stopped by way of spike.
@@brodymiles3884 because after every play the ball must be properly spotted by an official. Which it was not. The ball was returned to the center at some random place on the field by the players, not by the officials. Thusly that would be an illegal play. The time it would have taken for the officials to move the ball would have run out the clock. The review is what made it go to overtime. It stops the clock with 3 seconds until they are lined up. Allowing them to spike it. It all comes down to bullshit rules. This is why there are conspiracies that the NFL is scripted. That was an obvious catch and an obvious fumble. There was no need for a review on that play. The game according to the rules should have ended right there. But higher up where they pull the strings, they thought it would be worthwhile going to OT, where the Steelers ended up winning by 3, which is what they should have won by originally. The NFL has already tarnished the integrity of the game, and situations like this just make it worse. The average fan would never catch something like that. But the ones that pay attention notice the little thing. Going to OT is better for ratings.
I think they were reviewing whether the receiver was out of bounds before catching the ball. If he was then he can't catch it until he takes three steps in bounds again.
@@chrismiller1730 i understand that, but the refs were looking if metcalf had possession. If it did have to do with being an eligible receiver, they would have stated that in the call after review, but they didnt mention it. all they said was how it was a completed catch and fumble.
@HH could you please do a complication of all the Panthers drops in the Vikings game? There had to be at least ten. If you included the head coaches drop too that'd be great :)
If they had missed it, we'd all be talking about how the refs spotted the ball a yard short of where the ball was recovered. He recovered the ball inside the 25. They kicked at around the 26.
I'm just gonna say this cause some people mightve not understood the ruling. The spike was irrelevant. It was a catch fumble recovered by the offense. However, after the play, Freddie Swain held onto the ball and spotted it himself making the refs unable to spot the ball. The refs HAVE TO spot the ball. A player cannot spot the ball. That means that the refs were physically unable to spot it and so they stopped the clock on replay review and gave them 3 seconds and not 1 seconds as they wouldve given them if the spike counted. That's also why it was a running clock after replay review. It is quite similar to last year when Alex Smith intentionally walked off the field with the ball in his hands so that the ref had to blow his whistle allowing for Washington to kick a fg. Not that any of this mattered but Im seeing a lot of comments posing what if scenarios with the spike
The ref touched the ball after the Hawks player put it down meaning that the ref did officially spot the ball and the spike would have counted had the review not been triggered
game was over and they go back 2 plays for a review that didn't need a review. gave a timeout to the Seahawks so they can try and respike it again in regulation. clock was at 0

As a WVU fan and Steelers fan I’m glad we won but I hate that we won on a Geno fumble. I wish Geno all the best, he’s a mountaineer legend. But hats off to our defense for real tho.
When Swain gets up and runs to spot the ball, there’s 11 seconds left. That sequence took 10 seconds. Why Dallas thought they could run a draw for 17 yards, set and spike the ball all within 14 seconds is idiotic.
The Roman's knew the masses needed their entertainment. Much easier to control the people when they're entertained. Without sports last year some were trying to burn their cities to the ground, or take control of them. NFL is making sure every game keeps people in their seats this year.
Because after an official review the game is put back into the state it was in when they called for the review. Which is with 3 seconds on the clock, and running because it was a fumble recovery inbounds. When the players line up in formation and the QB is under center, the clock starts. They needed to spike it to stop the clock. This gives their kicker the entire play clock to line up his kick, instead of 2 seconds because the ball needs to snapped with 1 second left. Basically. It gives the kicker a good 25 seconds to calm himself instead of rushing a 2 seconds line up and kick.
remember a couple of weeks ago there was the whole discussion about if there should have been a delay of game call on the winning field goal... well look at this, the time clocks are different again. just goes to prove all those people wrong weeks ago that the clocks DON'T always show the same time
at about 0:08 Pittsburgh 42 interferes with Seattle 18 after the play, in an effort to stop him moving the ball back to the line of scrimmage. If it had mattered what would the ruling be, surely after the play is over you can't tackle people?
I don't understand what the controversy is here. Either they were going to kick a field goal with 1 second left or with 2 seconds left. What is the complaint? Other than the lengthy delay.
Yet again, Seattle was one good drive away from the win. I went to the Ram Hawks game in Seattle and that interception to end the game killed me. Go Hawks.
It's not like it really mattered. Even if the replay officials didn't stop the play the Seahawks definitely got the spike off with 2 seconds left on the clock, it was the stadium clock person who didn't stop the clock on the spike like they should have. If anything the replay stop gave the steelers an extra chance at the Seahawks messing up by committing a false start or an illegal shift which would have run 10 seconds off and ended the game
@@Q400Flight the stadium person didnt mess up either. It's called reaction time. Not everything we do is spotted iinstantaneously. But none of this ended up mattering cause the spike shouldve never happened as the refs physically could not set the ball

I know that a lot of Steelers fans were screaming that this was rigged when it happened live, but as a Steelers fan myself I think it was handled reasonably well. What I really think is that they should tweak the rule book so that they can review these time-sensitive situations after the NEXT play, so that here they would have reverted to 2nd & 10 with 1 second left, rather than 1st & 10 with 3 seconds. This would help prevent the nightmare scenario where Geno DOESN'T get the ball spiked in time, but gets saved by New York reviewing the obvious completion on the previous play.

Does is pass the eye test. If it looks wrong. 9 times out of 10, it is.
There was so many things happening at once
This game is just annoying now
Honestly
They added time for no reason at all and im pissed too

You’ll meet allot Vikings fans there 😂👌🏾
Wow just wow
Dude dk should’ve just ran it out of bounds
He DEFINITELY caught it. On what planet is that not a catch?
I think they were reviewing whether the receiver was out of bounds before catching the ball. If he was then he can't catch it until he takes three steps in bounds again.
@@VOIP4ME no bc after review the ref said it was a completed catch and fumble. he didnt mention anything about being out of bounds.
@@zachs5203 if he was out of bounds it wouldnt have been a completed catch, thus the clock wouldve reset to 12 seconds

DK Metcalf, “Imma run right through you”
DK Metcalf, “Oh shit the ball”
It looks like Steelers 42 is trying to hurry up the Seattle player when he recovered the fumble. 0:07
steeler players should have dived on the player that recovered the fumble, they are usually good about using the football dark arts.

whoops! butterfingers
None of this would have happened if DK just ran out of bounds
@@ChaelSonnenEatsLebronsWeiner I think he meant, that DK didn’t make sure to keep the ball secure (at least I hope that’s what he meant).
If they had missed it, we'd all be talking about how the refs spotted the ball a yard short of where the ball was recovered. He recovered the ball inside the 25. They kicked at around the 26.
They spiked it on the 26 though
The ref touched the ball after the Hawks player put it down meaning that the ref did officially spot the ball and the spike would have counted had the review not been triggered
game was over and they go back 2 plays for a review that didn't need a review. gave a timeout to the Seahawks so they can try and respike it again in regulation. clock was at 0
@@braindamage213 The clock very much was not at 0s, I mean you don’t even need to use slow mo, the whistles are going at 1 second. Though the review for the obvious catch is just a joke

When Swain gets up and runs to spot the ball, there’s 11 seconds left. That sequence took 10 seconds. Why Dallas thought they could run a draw for 17 yards, set and spike the ball all within 14 seconds is idiotic.
@@blue91civic oh sry
The Roman's knew the masses needed their entertainment. Much easier to control the people when they're entertained. Without sports last year some were trying to burn their cities to the ground, or take control of them. NFL is making sure every game keeps people in their seats this year.
Can I just say I have no idea what happened on that play
After the review, why did they spike the ball again inseatd of kicking the FG? It’s 3 sec v 2 sec, is that a huge diff?
Because after an official review the game is put back into the state it was in when they called for the review. Which is with 3 seconds on the clock, and running because it was a fumble recovery inbounds. When the players line up in formation and the QB is under center, the clock starts. They needed to spike it to stop the clock. This gives their kicker the entire play clock to line up his kick, instead of 2 seconds because the ball needs to snapped with 1 second left. Basically. It gives the kicker a good 25 seconds to calm himself instead of rushing a 2 seconds line up and kick.
Claypool would’ve celebrated recovering the fumble
Metcalf: catches it, pauses a full second, runs forward.
Refs: Under review!

His potential is being an average backup.
@@alexchalko3488 I’d say we have an extensive list of pretty crappy QBs in the league and people not named Russell get injured
To be fair, the first game ending turnover was because Lockett tripped on himself on his way to receive the pass, so it really wasn't Geno's fault.
4:18 why did they spike it, instead of kicking for the field goal right then?
It gives them more yards

It's not like it really mattered. Even if the replay officials didn't stop the play the Seahawks definitely got the spike off with 2 seconds left on the clock, it was the stadium clock person who didn't stop the clock on the spike like they should have. If anything the replay stop gave the steelers an extra chance at the Seahawks messing up by committing a false start or an illegal shift which would have run 10 seconds off and ended the game
They were reviewing the time on the clock since the stadium clock read triple 0

Not really, if you are talking about the spike they did spike it in time
I know that a lot of Steelers fans were screaming that this was rigged when it happened live, but as a Steelers fan myself I think it was handled reasonably well.
