growing up in the seventies and eighties ,we took for granted the great music we grew up with, only when I look back now I can see we were surrounded by musical legends
Couldn't agree with you more 💯
I am devastated at the loss of Terry, all those 80s memories due to the genius of his music. 😢
He was the sound of my early teens via the specials, I loved their songs - I was lucky enough to see him sing live literally months before he passed - it was a great night, and I am grateful to have heard the specials play live. I was saddened to hear he passed months later.
A true legend.
I met Terry at a man united game versus Queen’s Park rangers at the springbok pub on South Africa road, we bought each other drinks and shared stories about united games. A lovely and down to earth man. R.I.P.
Thats awesome! Everyone that has met him has said the same thing how nice he was 🥰 Thanks for your comment and for watching 😁👍
A true music legend, he brought so much happiness to people with his fantastic songs. Sleep well Terry Hall. ❤
I vividly recall the profound impact that "Too Much Too Young" had on the youth of the late 1970s. There has never been anything quite like it since, a testament to the remarkable talent of the man behind it.
Had no idea he'd died.
@@jamesbarbour8400 Yes, he died on the 18th of December 2022 at the age of 63 from pancreatic cancer.
@@bigbreadeaterellis thank you for your reply. 👍

Ghost town perfectly reflected the political and social situation of the times I was in my late teens when it was released and it still gives me chills- loved the Specials.

'You're wondering now!'..... my chosen track to be played at the end of my funeral! Great band. RIP Terry!
A genuine guy. A credit to England.
You mean Britain
He was the coolest man on the planet. He died on the same day as my lovely mama 😢❤
We share birthdays our love of United and more importantly, our musical tastes. The Specials were my first love in music. When schoolkid divisions were abound in the 1970s, I went down the Mod/Ska path, whereas many of my mates became Punks. Ska to this day is my happy music. I thank God that it's the path I took and I feel lucky to have been around when Terry and The Specials first made their mark. RIP to a Genius and Legend.
Forever J from his debut solo album Home was definitely a hit that got away. A fabulous song that should have been a top 10 single. Terry Hall was a great songwriter & singer.

You must know about the appalling abuse he survived as a schoolboy?
@@motorbikemuso People forget Elvis Costello produced The Specials and The Go go*s backing vocals on *Night Club* hence The Fun Boy 3 *Our Lips Are Sealed* a fantastic cover of their American hit before Belinda Carlisle solo career soared to new heights around the 🌎
My mum was good friends with keren and Sarah from Bananarama. In the early 80s they used to take me to their flat where they was rehearsing as fun boy three with Terry Hall.

Really sad hearing that! When I was 18 I saw him and his boys as Fun boy three, just waiting for their tube train to arrive and us to catch ours' which had just arrived. I'm sorry but Scar was definitely not my thing. I always said it was man music although I do like The Lunatics Are Taking Over The Asilum (spelling?) Reminds me of work I can tell you anyway time for mm a little sleep as I was at work last night 😅. Thank you again ❤❤
Have a lovely rest Jayne and appreciate you being here 🥰👍
Ska (correct spelling) has also been a woman thing from its origins in the 60s on :
Gloria and Dreamlets :
ruclips.net/video/tbLkjH4iM5A/видео.html
And in the early 80s, there were the Bodysnatchers (all girl Ska band) :
ruclips.net/video/amAoXXTNmFk/видео.html
This Gloria & the Dreamlets song was covered by the Deltones in the (later) 80s, who also had great original songs :
ruclips.net/video/RhEuuvp-YxE/видео.html
And even to this day, we have the all girl Ska bands still out there, like :
Le Birrette (Italy) :
ruclips.net/video/EnGsyaB-OjA/видео.html
Girls Go Ska (Mexico) :
ruclips.net/video/Jz5ZarM_uj8/видео.html
And there are more (though not enough) out there, and then I left out the Ska bands led by female singers who absolutely DO put their mark on their band's music.
@skabuoy I'm so sorry for spelling but the phone has a will of its own
@@skabuoy Lead singer of the Selecter.....Pauline Black.
Ska you meant. None of these acts were actually ska based. Only with some of their tunes. Ska being the earliest form of reggae before it developed into rocksteady circa 65/66 & finally reggae or reggay in 68
Did this guy ever smile 😢
Nope
