Another great video! Thank's for all the good tips. I have a small trick for avoiding the smallest silk pocket squares to slide down the pocket. I simply stick a small thin piece of paper, like tissue or kitchen paper in the bottom of the pocket and flatten it so it has the same bulk as the pocket square. Works like a charm every time, can be found just about anywhere and no one will ever know its there!
Watching this in 2018 and wow you improve so much in 4 years. The presentation, the quality audio, the confidence and the style....(not that you were not good in 2014). There are so may men in Vietnam these days pursuit for classic style but actually they aims to the Korean style which has feminine color suits, small lapel, skinny pants with ankle length pair sneakers. I really learn a lot from you. God bless.
I bought a silk maroon pocket square yesterday (hand rolled edges) from a thrift store because I found it in a suit jacket. The cashier kept calling it a scarf...what a sad world we live in haha. Anyway, I got it for less than 2 dollars. Thanks to this video I've got 5 lovely folds to choose from! I used the crown fold today. I loved it. Thank you!
That tie you are wearing was my favorite tie about 31 years ago when I was 17 years old. It was my favorite back then. I went looking for it while watching this video but sad to say I couldn’t find it. I probably donated it a long time ago along with my 1990’s suspenders or braces as they were called back then.
An excellent video, the shell fold was new to me, gotta try that one. I am a regular pocket square user myself and seeing others wearing them always makes me happy. Most of mine are silk but I like to experiment with other materials as well, recently got one in a wool/cashmere mix, nice for the fall season coming up.
I recently discovered your blog and must admit you do exactly the classic fashion stuff I like to read and see. Keep up the good work und liebe Grüße aus Wien !
I enjoyed this video. You presented this in a classy way. I also love your lapel pin. Hopefully men will make a turn around and start dressing like gentlemen again.
EARLY Sven! (sven 1.0) I like the amateur-hour feel of it...it's honest and sincere. That said, just got my first 2 of your squares yesterday and they are truly splendid! Now to learn a few new ps tricks with my new toys. if you were to return to using the Schumann on the odd video to contrast Lisa Simpson on the Bari, I'd be okay with it. Then again, the first dusky honk on the Ab always let's me know where I am...
This is great for us guys who are just learning how about the pocket square. Your channel is a wealth of good information. P.S. - I like your hair in this video.
Awesome video, puff fold is the easiest. Can you put some links about 851 folds in the comments section please? I am curious to see more different techniques of the pocket square foldings.
Your accent really changed alot in these past 4 years. I can usually identify where a certain accent comes from really quickly - And I had some trouble placing yours in your newer videos. But here you are absolutely German. And to me, that's definitely a good thing. (I am from the South of Denmark, so I've had a lot of contact with Northern and Frisian Germans)
One of the things I do Sir is I take a bunch of my business cards in the fold of my pocket square to give it a more solid appearance in the form of a crown but I slightly raise it so you can see more than just the corners ... Also if it goes in later, adjusting becomes easier ... Do you think this is a good way or I should learn to better fold it without the cards to give it a more natural look?
LMAO at 9:55 .I can just imagine some fool snatching somebody's $160.00 pocket square and honking their nose into it and stuffing it back in to the breast pocket.
Don Cankook Don Cankook If you have watched his video about colonge, you would know that fancy pocket squares are for the rich to cover their noses whenever they walk on the street. Sanitation in European cities didn't get any improvements until very recently about 130 years ago. In fact, the great stink of London in 1868 was so bad that you could smell it at the Scottish countryside. Back then, the rich would always wear knee high boots to insulate their feet from the muddy city "streets" and hold pocket squares spread with colonge to block away the terrible city smell.
hahahaha I quite enjoy that answer. I just know that most of your style choices are extremely deliberate so I thought there may be some interesting answer. Well In any event I don't blame you. I own the same one and I love it!
Approximately 851 folds😂 851 seems pretty precise to be "approximately" it the 1 at the end that gets me😂😂 Love your videos though! Keep up the amazing work!
I think he meant to say, "there are exactly 851 ways to fold an pocket square. No more and no less. I invented them all. You will never be as dapper as me."
You’ve came a long way in 5 years! One of my favorite channels!
JohnCannonBand Even Raphael revisits his old videos.

The level of confidence Raphael now exudes , is ten fold. Still, this video is invaluable to us all.
got some weight on though
Most people do. He still looks classy
Man...you have elevated your game. GG’s humble RUclips beginnings.
This was extremely helpful!
You should remake this one.
I've watched hundreds of your excellent videos, this is the first that's so old that doesn't have the iconic intro (that is also my ringtone now)
Raphael, you have come a great ways from the early years of the Gazette, and you have truly inspired me.
As other's have said, you've come a loooong way in 5.5 years! I'm glad you changed that music as well!

I do the same as well

You're such a lucky devil!!

Hard to believe there was a time before that jaunty tune.

I went back in time and i have learned from a great classic.
Another outstanding presentation! Many thanks.
Thank you!

This is great for us guys who are just learning how about the pocket square. Your channel is a wealth of good information. P.S. - I like your hair in this video.

Great video! I'm changing my wardrobe to include more upscale options and accessories are a big deal for me. Thanks
+Sublimeprince 3208 You're welcome.
I do prefer the puff pinch bottom & top display, along with the shell fold.
Those are great choices Charlotte.
Awesome video, puff fold is the easiest. Can you put some links about 851 folds in the comments section please? I am curious to see more different techniques of the pocket square foldings.
So to answer the age old question; It's for showing NOT blowing! Thanks Raphael.
Rafael, could you specify a size for a medium or large pocket square in centimeters?
This video has very high quality and you're real gent. :)
Can you please do a video where you show the 851 folds? Wonderful video as always sir.
Beautiful music too.
Is it just me or is Raphael a bit sad or serious? compared to his other videos...I hope everything is okay Raphael...you're awesome!
+hundreddollarbiller It's just an older video. When you focus on the camera you look much more serious ;)
Oh that's good to know! Keep up the awesome job!
You're such a great person.
Very useful refresher tips
This intro was sooo much more classic and dapper :(
Can you do a video on vests, wedding tux and suits, and ascot (cravat).
Mandeep Baweja We'll put it on our To Do List.
Boy this is an oldie I'll bet this was made before Preston was even born

What style would you recommend to wear with a tuxedo?
TV
Outstanding, thank you SRS :>
You're welcome
I'm sure this has been asked already however I couldn't see it - could you tell me which fold you are wearing in the video? thanks!
Great, really helpful. Btw, what is that beautiful piano piece playing in the background?
I have a question here. Lets say i have blue shirt and blue pocket square. Can i wear light blue shirt with dark blue ps and otherwise ?
I snapped with the nose blowing thing haha! I didn't think people still do that.
Cesar Santana You'd be surprised...
wow no one does it better than you, cudos!

Raphale, I want to buy a pocket square from your shop. What do you think is the most versatile, besides the white one?
my GO-TO when i gotta get dressed to my 9s
very helpful
Glad that we are able to help.
LMAO at 9:55 .I can just imagine some fool snatching somebody's $160.00 pocket square and honking their nose into it and stuffing it back in to the breast pocket.
Reminds me of that poker scene in the movie "The Sting" where Paul Newman sneezes directly into his borrowed necktie.
Blanca W It could only happen in a sitcom.

Not true at all Johnny Ryu
And what did the Chinese do for hygiene
Johnny Ryu how do you know this vampire?
Helpful
What is the name of that piano song at the start
I'm curious why you'd wear the edelweiss boutonniere with such a formal outfit? If I recall you emphasis it's casual heritage and nature.
+Comment RUclips because I like the flower.
hahahaha I quite enjoy that answer. I just know that most of your style choices are extremely deliberate so I thought there may be some interesting answer. Well In any event I don't blame you. I own the same one and I love it!
please send more information
Very informative, sub'd.
What size is medium?
Does someone know what's the music here, in the intro ?
Thank you
Wonderful video! And I love your look in this video. The puff fold it my favourite. Thank you.
Are there any folds for small silk pocket squares?
they just disappear in your pocket and should be retired.
I usually have a white handkerchief deep in the pocket in order that the small ones don't sink.
I recently subscribed to your videos. Congratulations and thank you! I have learned a lot! No offense, but you did well in firing your hairdresser ;)
What is your boutinier? And what's the fold on the thumbnail?
My pocket squirrel gets upset every time I try to fold it.
My dad always used to say "one to show, and one to blow" 🙂
Nice thank you sir.
I love your 3 piece suit!
With the double breasted vest. :)
How do you like JONH LOBB shoes ??- I think it is one of the finest shoe in the world
Can someone tell me what's that flower thing on his chest.
It is called a boutonniere. You can learn all about it here www.gentlemansgazette.com/how-a-boutonniere-is-made/?
Gentleman's Gazette Thank you. I love your content btw

For some reason I don't have a lapel hole on my jacket, will it be possible for a tailor to place one?
Yes, you can.
+Gentleman's Gazette thank you :D
You're welcome.
I guess you could say that this video is by the Sven Folds Five!
nice
Gentleman's Gazette You endorse the double breasted waist coat with the DB jacket? Or is your SB jacket just wide lapelled with a low cross-over?
Grady McDonald It is a single breasted jacket. If it was double breasted, I would not have worn it unbuttoned.
I learned the upside down puff fold from watching Are You Being Served?
TdyYrLove love that show!!
TdyYrLove but you can't forget about captain Peacock's fluting lesson for me Lucas!😂
Oldie but goodie! But still all #alpha
where is the follow up video (hand rolled edges) sir? TIA and cheers,
Bertram Martin just not released yet.
If you need help folding a pocket square..... your gonna need a lot more help than what this video will provide.
Like other comments, this seems off compared to later videos.
Increase speed to x1.5
Hey baby I hear the blues a'callin - tossed salad and scrambled eggs.
There are approximately 851 folds out there.
Thats not an approximate number
