    I've got some four color pocket squares, and I had no idea how to display all four. Son of a gun, you DID IT!! (I'll also use the fold-over to display the center and the edges)

    Another great video. I have my dad's collection after he passed. Probably from the 60s or 70s. I guess these would be semi vintage. Mostly silk. Lots of paisley patterns, very colorful. Lots with multi quadrants. Now I know why and how to use them. Thank you!

    I like the modified puff and tissue trick. I also fold my pocketing a slight triangle inside the pocket to help it follow the slant of the pocket. otherwise it seems to popup during the day (or evening) and look uneven.

    Well done, John. One thing though... The lapel width is a factor. For instance, the "volcano" style (I've seen it called "exploding" as well) works best with a wider lapel - the proportions are better. Also best with a patterned jacket. You did neglect the simple fold over, same as the "presidential", but instead of the wings exposed you reverse it (upside down) for the simple, clean folded edge following the slit of the pocket. Pattern and texture of your shirt, jacket and tie play a roll in the selection too.

    Great video 🙏 Will try the tissue idea. I love pocket squares... I just picked up a few from Stefano Ricci. You should check them out, I think you'll enjoy them. They are not cheap but the silk history of the company is extrodinary. I love owning something which has a fabulous story behind it.

    • @40OverFashion
      @40OverFashion  5 лет назад

      Hey Paul, the pocket square can match your socks, but when you boil it down, it should match ‘something’ you’re wearing or at least compliment something on the color wheel of what you’re wearing and be a deliberate thought.

    Hello, I think using a pocket squire holder helps a lot, which always help to maintain shape and doesn't let it slip in side the pocket. Just my 2 cents. like always great video.

    Had no idea there were so many ways to style a pocket square, thanks a million! BTW, does your necktie and the pocket square have to match in color or at bare minimum be in the same color family? Thank you.

    • @40OverFashion
      @40OverFashion  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your comment! Do not match the tie and the pocket square exactly. They can however remain in the same color family.

      The short answer is yes. Both have to match in some way, especially the colour, but as you said, a bare minimum unless you want to make some kind of fashion statement the meaning of which you can explain

    Is it ok to use a silk pocket square in a cotton or linen jacket?

    • @40OverFashion

      Hi Jeff! My first reaction would be to go with cotton, but I’m not such a fashion stickler that I wouldn’t give silk a shot.

    I love the puff but all I ever see around here is the presidential fold. I’m just gonna have to be a bit non-conformist and try it! My dad knew how to dress & behave like a gentleman. In a short time it seems we have forgotten much of that, so I respect the army of men who are now trying to learn or re-learn these things.
