Congratulations nice job!!! If it's possible to add a little "platform" (as a support bracket) of aluminium between the deck and the immersion body should be perfect!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
    Have good time every time!!!
    Best regards from Hellas (Greece)

Thanks for watching and commenting! I normally put a piece of really dense foam in this area but I didn’t have any at the time. Definitely helps! 🍻

I Loved the video and the way you explained it in detail. Thank You for doing it but I have a suggestion to improve the repair, especially in this area where your constant getting in and out of the kayak may crack it again. I would cut a metal strip of screen material and make it overlap the crack on all sides by a half of an inch. then melt additional plastic over the screen to cover it and make it adhere well. This will in essence be a good reinforcement that will beef up the area and prevent future cracks. I did it on my kayak and it made it super strong in a high traffic area.

Thanks so much for watching and giving us this awesome information! I thought about using mesh due to the high usage area but wanted to stay as simple as possible for the viewers. This method will still be very stable, however you are 100% correct! Using mesh in this area would make it much more stable. Especially if you can get to the area underneath the crack. Thanks again!! 🍻

Awesome video, we have several kayaks at work that have been improperly repaired or just thrown to the side.
Looking forward to trying my hand at repairing them , the wire mesh suggestion got me thinking it would help along the keel at the bow and stern area where customers have drug the kayaks instead of picking them up.
Thanks for the video and the gentleman bringing up using screen for part of the repair. I have a passion for enjoying the water , looking forward kayaking again soon.

For a crack that size you should have used staples or some kind of metal binder.

Absolutely correct but I did it this way as most people don’t have the tools for it. I will say that the guy who bought this kayak stands in it quite often and weighs around 200lbs. Still no issues. Though he doesn’t go out as often nowadays. 😝

Good work. I hope I can repair mine. It cracked at a flex point. Nothing to lose!

Yeah, the best and worst thing about fixing your own kayak is either way, it works out, we got what we paid for 😂🤣. I found that smaller amounts of heat and a “slow and low” approach works best. Besides,.. HDPE is cheap and it’s everywhere! 😛.

I used to get out the propane torch and milk jugs to do the repairs .

Yup! My first repair was a screwdriver 🪛 and a lighter! I just melted what was there back to itself. Needless to say,… it didn’t hold. 💦🌊🏊‍♂️

@@FaithsWind , the propane torch and milk jugs held pretty good .

Well explained and I notice your hard work with the edition.
Since your repair was several months ago...Did it last? Or did you have to re-repair it?
I´m about to deal with a couple of cracks on mine.

I’ve sold that yak but the guy that bought it said it was still good as of last December but he doesn’t stand in so it’s not stressed as much as it was with me 😂. Cracks are a pain in the butt. Take your time and don’t be afraid to start over if it gets an attitude. 🍻
