This includes a Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, GMC sierra, Yukon, and Escalade vehicles. Overall the job is pretty simple however there are a couple tips and tricks along the way I show you to make the job a little bit easier. The particular truck in this video is a 2014 2 Wheel Dr. with the 5.3 L motor. The truck does a lot of towing and has oversize off-road tires so the truck really benefited from the upgraded Brake system. Below is a complete list of parts and tools are used in this video. Love how that caliper mount bolt just came out like butter. In the rust belt I've put over 400lbs of torque trying to remove those

    I have been watching a few really good channels such as this one. I can not believe I spent $1100 cdn last time getting all my brakes done. I can do it myself, I have all the tools, it will take me longer because I have to use a Jack and stands but I can do this easily. My truck is a bit different but same idea. Compared to other channels in the north I take it this must be in the south where there is no salt. This one is very clean compared to the salt belt vehicles.

    Recommend opening the bleeder screw on the caliper before pressing the pistons in....pushing fluid backwards through the valves can cause problems with the ABS module. Just make sure to have some brake fluid on hand to replace what you push out.

    Good simple video.
    If I may add one thing? The inner pad seems to have a backing plate with a "flat" edge vs the outer having a "curved" edge nearer the center hub.

    No grease on the sliders and pads?

    When comprising the pistons back in do you not have to take the lid off the master cylinder?

    Thank goodness I have an S hook to hang the calipers because all the coat hangers are in use right now, unfortunately.

    What size wheels and tires? That's a great looking setup, I just got a 2018 Silverado crew cab and have started doing a few mods. Wheels and tires are on my list, really like the chrome wheels you have, much nicer than the black ones everyone seems to get. Looks like you have a leveling kit too.

    I saw some red GMC calipers, and I thought I would switch over to them, so I thought about going and having my dealer do it;. However, I was trained as a mechanic in the 70s, I actually got a scholarship to go to Pacific technical institution in San Jose, California, sponsored by a Concord dealership, Jefferson Motors Lincoln-Mercury dealership, when I talked to the parts guy at the GM dealership I bought my truck he got back to me and said the front calipers would be over $2800. The rear was nearly $600. Now the front calipers have six pistons. I guess that's the difference, a difference I passed on for sure.

    Can you just put new pads on? Does the rotor wear that much?

    Do you have to loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap when you push the caliper pistons back in?

    • @AaronHinesAuto
      @AaronHinesAuto  3 года назад +5

      No. The cap is vented so no need for that

    Just out of curiosity how many miles are on that truck and what state are you from?I have a 2015 with just about 50,000 miles on it and have purchased the same brake kit, but I am amazed with how clean that truck is underneath.New York is hell on vehicles and tax payers! 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    So this brand of pads and rotors say how to break in the new system, does it not mention to clean anything off the rotors prior to installing like oil etc? Like on OME rotors.

    • @dgronzega8073
      @dgronzega8073 2 года назад +1

      Yes, it's always a good practice to clean them off with brake cleaner first.
