Just a scary point Barry.. life jackets and a safety line out the back are really pointless. Firstly you WONT be able to get yourself back aboard by dragging yourself up the line......way to much water drag, especially if your making reasonable way. And a life jacket? Well you simply get to have to wait longer for the inevitable chap. With probably some sharks as the only company. Definitely for 2 up sailing, but solo? Best to simply not fall off mate.... and make peace with it all. 😉
You may not realize you , but; everything you are filming is spectacular to me sitting here under my carport in Ozark , Al. You are a real Adventurer! I Salute You
Well done sailing ⛵ interesting adventure. I'm watching all the episodes filming. Each episode different and interesting to me .Thanks for Sharing Crossing the Atlantic Ocean, quiet charming and challenging.
That slow speed filming of the sea state was excellent at showing wave height....no wonder your ship was rolling. Glad you made land safely.....it has been an enjoyable trip....
" AWESOME " you did it and now I bet you know what being " alone " really means. Congrats on doing what most of us dream about but don't big enough " B- - - - S " to do it . Your the MAN !!!
That was spectacular at 10:30. Could truly see the height and immensity of the waves. I'm watching the whole series again and noticing more. What a spectacular, terrifying, exhausting, exhilarating, peaceful, stressful and rewarding experience to have lived. Nothing can ever rob you of it.
Being of an age where every movement seems to need sound effects I could feel that fall...and the frustrations and tiredness aren't unknown either, but then those are the things that make the winning through even more meaningful and its a pity more channels don't reveal that side of it all. Excellent footage of the sea and sailing...and you did it!!
Congratulations on fulfilling a childhood dream young man. I am sure your parents would be very proud, as you should be dude. Enjoy yourself Barry and behave hehehehehe. I hope to follow you one day in the not too distant future. Keep the videos coming, thank you and regards.
Have you made it out there yet? We've been planning to travel the US by van with solar power and some nice battery power so we can have airconditioning at all times, or when needed. Finally have the solar put together and bought our composting toilet. I hope you realize your dream!
Hope the knee is not flaring up . I guess it's ok because you're not complaining . Glad to see you made it ! Stay a while ! Cheers ! thanks for sharing 😎
never mind filming something spectacular, crossing the atlantic solo is already pretty spectacular by itself...stay safe, be happy and just enjoy your adventure...I know I do.....
Well done, Barry. Congratulations on your crossing. Yea, gotta agree with you on that main slatting. That and the rattling halyard drive me nuts. LOL. Enjoy Barbados
Safety line passing you barry bit like on a motorbike when the flies are stuck on the back of your helmet definitely not going fast enough brilliant footage again mate love your log yet again wishful sailor
Well, I don't know how many times sails have said "the camera doesn't do it justice" when talking of rough seas. Your footage around the 10 -11 minute mark shows it very well ;-)
The extended footage of the sea and the minimalist music was fantastic. Poetic. Some of your best work. The whole episode was a great unvarnished example of the power and beauty of the sea and the toll it takes on those who take to it.
So much crap on youtube, then there's this. How many times do you click on a video and its all salesmanship and no substance. There is nothing fake here. An old guy, with a great attitude and sense of humor, on a boat. I'm just starting to sail, but Slocum has been my dream since I was a teenager. I'm 40 now. My kids are growing up so its time to get to it before the reaper ends my story. Keep up the good work. You're an inspiration.
That was the most intense footage of waves ever... just grabs ya! I have a dream to cross the Atlantic, and then some times... I go "what are you thinking"... Well done Old Sea dog! I just drop everything when I see your video is up....
....as a side note, I have an old "Sea Dog 29"... a Vander Stat design in steel. Called an Excalibur 30 here in Canada. Not as pretty as the "Shadow"...but just as tough.
Congratulations old man, you are an inspiration for all of us old pirates, time for me to get going,...again, congratulations. I hope to meet you some day. Skipper Andy,....
Ha! I never thought I'd hear the words "Trago Mills" in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! Brilliant Barry. You are my hero mate
Just a scary point Barry.. life jackets and a safety line out the back are really pointless.

so fun to watch your videos , No babies, no drama, just sailing love it
Dont worry about "filming something spectacular" crossing an ocean single-handed is all the spectacular you need! Awesome.
It's nice to see old codgers doing long passages short handed or solo. Let's me know it's not impossible. Well done... woof.
I don’t why but the thought of drifting at sea for a few days (or a week) by myself is VERY attractive these days.
I am so happy that you fulfilled your dream of sailing across the Atlantic and made it safely. woo hoo
Just wanted to say thank you for a sailing channel that contains sailing!
Welcome to Barbados 🇧🇧 island , crossing from Cape Verde islands to Barbados is amazing.
Way to go Barry! Always add extra Beer!!!
YOUR THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a complete stud.......Barbados was there in the 60s as a child cruising with my parents.....
Just watched all 4 parts. Excellent filming, editing & story. Thank you.
Great job capturing the size of the waves. I know the video doesn't do it justice but wow, what a ride Barry. Congratulations on achieving your dream.
That slow motion of the big wave at 10 minutes is the first time (for me) someone has captured the ocean
Congrat's, Barry, YOU did it, and all by yourself! What an achievement!
You may not realize you , but; everything you are filming is spectacular to me sitting here under my carport in Ozark , Al. You are a real Adventurer! I Salute You

That slow speed filming of the sea state was excellent at showing wave height....no wonder your ship was rolling. Glad you made land safely.....it has been an enjoyable trip....

I am only sitting in my living room in Newport RI and I feel I need a drink after that, I bet that Caribbean pizza and beer tasted great. 😎
