*My first electric was a Fender Squire Stratocaster Bullet Series..29 years ago! lol*
In those days, it was full body thickness, but the same absurd plywood granted I will say it's at least furniture grade plywood. *The saving grace is they resonate beautifully and don't take a lot of work to sound as good as the real thing.*
I hollowed mine out completely under the entire pickguard, and this takes the strat traits to a whole new level.
I've done it to a few others including a 20th year anniversary Squire that's literally 20 years old, full thickness and solid alder. IMO, it should actually be a standard design feature available from Fender/Squire.
*It takes the plunk, honk and quack to new levels and increases sustain.*

Plywood with no voids definitely has some weight to it.

@@hacksguitarhobby there is an artist that builds guitars out of many materials. He will use colored pencils, dice, metals and all sorts of wild collages of material. The instruments in fact perform great, and he's able to sell them for many thousands of dollars a piece.
It just goes to show we need to rethink material in regards to what we assume is garbage compared to the very heavy and dense woods. My 2 favorite woods are basswood and mahogany, and they couldn't be more different. Basswood when I work with it, *is like graham cracker in machining it and chiseling it, but it resonates beautifully.* Countless Steve Vai Jems can't be wrong!

I’ve seen some videos using colored pencils or skateboards cut up into strips. There is a pretty cool video on RUclips showing that the majority of tone comes from other places. ruclips.net/video/n02tImce3AE/видео.htmlfeature=shared

I love how you get into all the little details. Those little details are what really help us when following along. Your channel has quickly become my go-to to follow along for DIY replacements on my own stuff 👍🙏

Question: What is it about the cast saddles that you don't like? Will the change of the cast saddles to these bent steel ones change the tone? Thanks.

The steel saddles are harder than the cast ones, so they wear better. In theory they would provide a bit more sustain, although it is marginal. I change them out pretty often on tremolo bridges, but this is the first time I have used them on a hardtail.

Hello, did the fender saddles have and width issues, I've seen that the Am. Special/Highway One saddles are slightly more narrow.

Eu tenho uma bem parecida mas não é 02 é 00. Você poderia me dizer qual é a madeira do corpo? Alguns dizem que é alder, outros que é plywood
