AT-205 is the best engine oil stop leak I've used in 40 years. nothing works as good. it stopped a major rear main oil leak in my car almost immediately. the car was leaking a quart of oil every 65 mile, out the rear main seal. I put the AT-205 in, and it greatly reduced the leak in about 30 minutes of driving. when I got home one drop came out and then stopped. as days went by, it sealed even better. it doesn't mix with the oil, it stays on top and seeps from the leaking area, where it dries in the opening when it hits the air, like an epoxy or urethane.
That's not how it works at all. It DOES mix with the oil, and any rubber seals it comes into contact with (aka where there's a leak) the rubber absorbs the chemicals in the AT-205, causing the rubber to soften and swell, which fills any gaps/cracks. People use AT-205 to spray on the OUTSIDE of rubber objects, like CV joints and even window seals. If it turned solid where it hit the air, this would be VERY BAD. Instead, it softens and reconditions the rubber parts.

Had an '87 F150 that had a slight rear main seal leak. I put one quart of the Lucas oil stop leak on the next oil change and even after 3k miles later it completely stopped the leak.
Says to add a full bottle to a 6 quart system. If you never added enough, I would do it again. Even if you had the proper amount the first time and it still leaks, I would try a few times more with oil changes. I also see some people say it takes several hundred miles to work on their car. I wouldn't keep adding it if it stopped, stuff dilutes your oil a little bit also. I have a bad oil leak on my truck and noticed a difference after driving it 30 minutes. Hoping it will stop completely!
Thinking about using this on my 2000 f250 7.3, a lot of guys are saying not to use them on diesels because the seals will swell, temporarily stopping the leak, then when ALL the seals shrink back down in a few months they will all leak.
I had a power steering leak. After a recommendation by Scotty Kilmer I used AT 205 Reseal and after about a week the oil exploded out all over the driveway. I would not recommend using it. I would also not recommend using Lucas leak stopper if you are going to keep the vehicle. Only use it if you are going to sell the vehicle quickly after using it. It definitely has a long term detrimental effect on the seals and never use it on a system that doesnt leak as it will perish the oil seals. Ive never used Valvoline high mileage so cant comment on it. I have used Castrol ultraclean and it causes leaks.

From what I have heard here, I guess if I have used High Mileage Oil and my RMS is leaking, then there is no point in trying the Lucas Synthetic Stop Leak since they both work by swelling the rubber ? Correct ? I'm not sure what to figure about the AT205 as an alternate way of solving the problem, or if it works. I only understand (I think ) that it cleans the metal parts, which actually might not be such a good idea, I guess due to possible increased friction. Did I get that right ? But then again, aren't they always selling stuff to clean the gunk off inside your engine ? Heck, I recently used some, fuel injector cleaner, fuel treatment, Seafoam high mileage motor cleaner.

I have a RMS leak in my 98 Jeep TJ. I plan on replacing the seal when it gets a bit warmer here. In the meantime, I tried AT-205. After about 250 miles, I see no difference in the amount of leak. I'm going to give lucas a try and see whats up. 118k miles.
Stop leak does not work good (or even not at all) with hyper modern rubber seals, the brown and blue ones are Viton or Neoprene seals...they are resistent. Stop seal works only with BUNA (synthetical black rubber seals = NBR) On vintage cars with rubber gaskets most stop leak additives work pretty well.

Will clean it but not seal it.
I wont be drinking this anymore 👍
Lucas stopped my oil leak in my 94chevy truck 350 engine worked after a couple days driving.
The 205 stuff didn't work at all for my Chevy 350 engine.
I'm in the same boat between Lucas and AT205 on my Chevy 350. Got a slow leak, no more than half a quart per 6,000mile oil change interval.
How do used at 205 and it didn’t do a thing. Seemed liked it made it leak a little more. Also seemed to shift rougher and and slip more. Added Lucas oil and instantly noticed better shifting and smoother transition from park into drive. Didn’t stop the leak though. Perhaps a little less than before but not much difference. Going to add some more and see if it may slow the leak some more.
In the Power Steer, the ATP at 205 I used only 1 measured ounce. Then waited about 2-3 weeks. It slowed dramatically. I added only 1 additional ounce..
Worked great. Same procedure with Rear Diff. This is a 30 year old vehicle.
Thank you for telling me it works or it doesn't work, you did a great job in this video and I appreciate your insight!
From the comments it seems like they both work really well..
Had an '87 F150 that had a slight rear main seal leak. I put one quart of the Lucas oil stop leak on the next oil change and even after 3k miles later it completely stopped the leak.
Does AT-205 for an oil gasket does it need to be added again when the oil is changed?
I put some at205 down my kitchen sink, made the gaskets supple no more leaks
What product would be better at stopping a oil leak in a ford ranger that has 283,000 miles on it
A lot of companies use it but not at a high concentration as 205.
I have used Castrol ultraclean and it causes leaks.
sounds like you used too much
I've used Lucas Oil Stop Leak a couple times over the years. It works quite well, better than any others I've tried. Never tried AT-205, though.
Any chance do you know if this stuff good on Hondas, pacifically 98 Honda Accord
@@VVV953 Don't know
@@VVV953 It worked pretty good on my 93 Honda Prelude. But it doesn’t really matter what car you got. This stuff can work with pretty much everything.
@@Micheal1075 I also keep hearing it can f*** up your engine
@@VVV953 I can’t see it fucking up your engine anymore than synthetic oil can.
I add at205 to my leather or vynal conditioner spray bottoles. Add just a little to your favorite soray detailer bottole to help all the plastics and what not on your dash or your doors from drying out
Do you have to dilute with water?
AT-205 gains .012" on an O-ring in tests. that's how it seals.
Thank you for that info! Once introduced to the motor, do you suppose it needs to be added with every oil change?
Depends on how bad the leak is. I use it every other oil change on my rear main seal to keep it in check@@radleybradford1356
Hi Nate, I used ATP 250 in my bmw, nissan and Honda and it worked great in the bmw and nissan. Only slowed the leak in the Honda. I use blue devil in the honda and it worked great
This is very helpful thanks so much for being kind.
Did you add the Blue Devi into that same oil that you had put the AT205 into, or did you drain that 205 oil and start fresh before adding the BD ?
Thank you for that. I have auto that needs valve seal guide repair. I read the symptoms of value guide seal failure. I have them. I tried all the additives in local/national auto part stores. I will discuss another time. This is my last try. The Lucus and at 205 are my last products. Think I should get oil change before my next additive?
I used AT-205 in a 71 F100 360 v8. I don’t believe the engine has ever been into. All oil leaks stopped. Runs good, sounds good. I used it on a 73 F100 with a 302 v8. I believe the motor is out of an early 80’s vehicle. All oil leaks stopped. I hope it does not cause engine damage because it sure stops leaks.
what are you trying to tell us with the comparison you how at 0:09 in top left
Sir we're bye ST 205 at 🤔???
You show the oil that leaked after Lucas, But not the video showing how the at 205 did? Unless I missed it you only stated how it did? Why?
Can you use in together Lucas High Mileage stabilizer oil and AT-205?
Thanks
Just wondering did you put all together?
Stabilizer oil will often increase the damn leak.
Sealed the hatch on my Submarine too.
I'm good to1000 Fathoms without a drop.
I’m wondering if a oil leak sealant works for a Chevy Cruze. My car has a leak in the oil cooler, which causes a lot of smoke when the oil drips into the catalytic
Is this stuff safe to use in a 2003 ford powerstroke 7.3?
I am about to use AT-205 for my 2001 227K miles Mustang Bullitt with a oil pan leak and engine and transmission main seal. fingers cross.
How did it go ,?
@@myyoutubechannel3161 Good it works 90%
I watched a long video, and the at-205 positively does swell up the rubber seals.more then the other 7 they tested.and was the only one that actually works.
Very informative and helpful video! I’ve been very hesitant on using certain types of stop leaks and the AT-205 sounds very promising.
I'm about to use AT 205 RESEAL on my 08 Sequoia Limited with over 210,000,rear main seal leak, hopefully it works...
@@mercedesbenzs600bash Did it stop the leak?
@HELLO HELLO I would say about 85%,eventually I'll put in the 2nd bottle that have...
Question - Could the cleaning ingredients be the reason why stop leak works? Meaning the extra carbon release from engine parts into oil, which clogs and deposits where the leaks are located vs the At-205 fixing the issue directly.
Can you use it on full synthetic oil?
Thank you ..After watching this , I have a bottle of Lucas oil stop leak and decided to NOT use it at this point.
I have a 1997 ford f150 4.6l v8 . The leak is dripping on the starter bolt and muffler system pipe right after the donut and manifold connection. Cannot see back up that far. Could be intake and or valve cover gasket. Going to brake clean area and add dye at night , using the light and a mirror on a stick...
Any suggestions would help ? Thanks
If you have a remote oil filter, I have a 99 5.4 F-150 with one. Those hoses can leak and even blow out. That may be your problem if the oil filter is real easy to get to, then it is hosed.
I have a 2001 Buick century which started leaking oil. I don't know whether to take it to mechanic which I know will be very expensive or would it be safe to try one of these oil leak products and which one. I have read that the O ring leaks on these cars frequently.
I put in in my 1998 prelude and immediately after I put it in there was smoke coming out of exhaust. It didnt do that before. Is that a problem or is that normal? Let me know please thx
Can you use AT 205 in the crankcase for rear main seal leak more than once?
Can damage occur if you use a second bottle 6-12 months later? Thanks,
No they say you should put some in every oil change!
I think using a whole bottle is over kill. Maybe start with a couple of measured ounces..then wait a couple weeks. Then see results. Then maybe a couple more....
Just put it in yesterday in my tracker, bad rear main seal. I'll get back to ya.
How did it go so does it work
@@shunploos8584 well it did slow it down quite a bit. But I ended up putting synthetic bleed in which for this 👈 is no good ; though I put conventional in. So as it leaks I'll re top with that. Then hopefully it'll about stop it.
at-205/ bluedevil (100% diethylene glycol ethyl ether) does swell rubber but is not harmful to most rubber. Thats all it does, swell rubber
I have leaking in my car so which one using Lucas or at205
No lie you look like you under fed interrogation!
He's 🐀 on Lucas lol...
What if you use both at the same time?
Nate what are your ideas on stop leak on standard transmission. A leak started shortly after I changed the transmission oil also I did bottom the car out on a frickiin speed bump. Is it possible to over fill transmission? It is 73 Challenger 4 speed.
Thanks, I’m trying to figure out which one to use. Thank you!
And I love your musical choice for the background!🎉
hi, can it be safe to use in modern cars 2018 model ford? tnx
If my car does not have oil leaks, can I use this product to prevent leaks?
Why do that
so much useful information in so little time. thanks brother. just subscribed and really looking forward to checking out your previous videos.
found that actually does what its intended to do.
Does anyone know what to use on external head gasket oil leaks? Iv got a leak on the exhaust manifold side itsnot blown but I'm not sure if this would work on a head gasket?
Can you combine two different oil sealers ?
I used AT-205 works really well stop the leak on my power steering pump which was pretty bad the only problem is I used a whole bottle and had a problem with the power steering got stiff but again I used the whole bottle I should have only used a little bit but great product for stopping leaks
Thank you for sharing. Try removing half the fluid and add some regular power steering fluid good luck
Hi sir first of all thanks for all the information!
I have a question, do I have to put the stop leakinf fluid everytime i do the oil change? Or with just one bottle is enough?
Thanks heaps bro. I just used Lucas steering rack stop leak and it did the job. So I was very interested in this Vid. You did a great job, but, you haven’t really made a stand.
Hey y'all, which would be safe to use for the valve seal in a old ATV with wet clutch, only smoking after it sits up
Can you use At-205 or Lucas with power steering fluid?Got a light leak behind the pulley,is this under pressure also,or is there another seal behind???
Vehicle,Mercedes Sprinter 903
To answer your question, me personally, I wouldn’t try it. I don’t know if AT has anything for that but Lucas does have a power steering stop leak. If it doesn’t work, they got a money back guarantee.
It works great for any hydraulic or lubricating fluid, lots of guys have fixed their power steering with it
I think around 4 you said you would never use High Mileage oils, but then a minute later did you say that in your test it didn't hurt anything at all ?
ATF 205 did very well on a small leak!
2000 f250 5.4l alum head micro Crack. Lucas 1/2 qt with 5.5 it's 10w40 oil stops leak that warm up or cool pull allows. No leak evident. Warm up before towing is normal. All seas leaks stopped!!!!!!!!
Sorry new phone, old eyes!
Hello, the AT-205 did not work for my 04 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.3 liter, former rental model with 183,000 miles. The valve covers always leaked since I first owned it at 73,000 miles.
Its a Chrystler product
Cause it's not for gaskets
Hey I have a 1996 Dodge intrepid with the 3.5 V6 with 134XXX it had oil on the flywheel and starter. I think it's the rear main but what do you think I should try?

I have a RMS leak in my 98 Jeep TJ. I plan on replacing the seal when it gets a bit warmer here. In the meantime, I tried AT-205. After about 250 miles, I see no difference in the amount of leak. I'm going to give lucas a try and see whats up. 118k miles.

@@SheSayso-ek7ul Not in my case. I replaced my RMS and now my TJ is leak free.
Thanks for your information, I’m heading out to buy a vehicle a golf gttd it has a crankshaft oil leak, I’m only buying the car as I intend to use it for spares to fix another car same make model etc, I’m going to try using one of those products so I will let you know how things go, thanks again Nate and all the best from us in Edinburgh Scotland 🏴🍻👍
So what happened?
Will at 205 help reduce transmission leaks?
Yes it's helps, just keep using it to keep the benefits
honestly thank you so much for quality content and testing things for us consumers
It fixed my problem , I had bad oil leaks on my 85 s10 2.8 an one I couldn't ever fix cause it was the oil filter housing adapter seal that was leaking an the engine mount was right in the way .
So when I changed my oil I used the hole bottle of AT-205 reseal in it an within a few days of driven it was fixed an it fixed my instake manifold gasket leak an the front seal leak too .
Very amazing stuff an I don't have any engine problems at all an Scotty Kilmer would not recommend that stuff to use if he knew that it would mess up bearings or anything inside a engine soo that part I don't believe
True that
What will fix a valve cover leak
Nope change the gasket..
It worked on my Lexus
Idk about the UV with a little front wheel drive car. I can’t see much around the engine.
at 205 worked well for me .. just add half bottle to oil change.. btw i change oil only at 10,000 , synthetic , but oil filter swap every 3333 mile.. works well for me.
I use some blue devil about four or five days ago and it hasn’t helped at all in fact I think it’s made it worse
I’ve used Lucas stop leak for many years in many different vehicle. It always seems to work for me temporarily, usually a year or two or three and then the leak come back.
yeah, but did you test how bad would the metal end with a leak ? I'm pretty sure you didnt.
So this whole video. Which one worked on the video 📹
Hi guys. Really need some honest reviews. I am using Rolls Royce old ones, V8 Carbureutor engine 6750cc, ATF automatic gear, also for power steering . Just wondering which product would be the best for everything or even separate product, or what all can you guys recommended even if you cannot recommend on LHM Hydraulic brakes. Would even need advice to clean carbureutor system, a complete flushout as new (if you guys know any). I know this product does not support brake system, however any recommendation on Rolls Royce brake, one of them using RR363 / DOT3 , the other using LHM as Hydraulic brakes. Its an old Rolls, finding a genuine seals and spare parts isnt easy, espcially in the country of where I am living. From Bangkok, Thailand. Thank you. Expecting a honest / sincere response. All help is appreciated. Thank you once again.
I'm just gonna try a quality synthetic motor oil first. I've got a small leak on two of my spark plug well gaskets in my valve cover Bank 2. If that doesn't do it I'll try the lucas. If that doesn't.....intake removal, yada, yada yada. Pain in the butt on my 2005 3.0L Duratec DOHC V-6. Whoever thought putting a V-6 in sideways was a good idea should go to the ring of hell where they have to do the job OVER AND OVER.... for eternity.
Did it work I’m having the same issue?
Lucas OSL is the worst, made a very minor leak to a major one after using twice, don't have exp with 205
I've read not to use oil stop leaks on a car with VVT & timing chain? Anyone got the word on this? Seems like most of these products are used on older vehicles, but I have a 2010 Lexus RX350 with 140k miles that's leaking from the front timing cover seal. Is Lucas or AT205 safer for this car?
it's safe, I have a 05 6 series bmw, had a leak , I used the 205 and it stopped after driving 3 days, I used a quantity according to the size of the oil that was leaking..DONT USE THE WHOLE BOTTLE, this stuff is very potent that it can melt your rubber seals, I used one tea spoon and good to go.
@@knightrider3766 I just bought some AT 205 but the directions say to use an entire bottle (8 fl.oz.) for a 6 quart engine. BMWs use a lot of engine oil, more than 6 quarts, but a teaspoon is less than 1/5 of 1 fl.oz.. Is it still holding up okay or has it started leaking again at all? I'm just wondering how much I should be putting into my 6.4 quart Lexus RX350, I'll probably start off conservatively based on this, just wanted to check to see if there's been any changes with your leak.
I wonder if AT205 will stop a transfer case oil leak?
depends where the leak is coming from, if its out of a rubber shaft seal, yes/ it should swell the rubber and seal it, it wont swell/ reseal rtv, use at 1oz/ quart gear oil
AT 205 is great on salads!!!
