    My first MG was the Z’Gok, standard version. I think I assembled it 11 years ago or so, not knowing anything about gunpla building as it was also my very first gunpla built! I snap built it as it was, no painting, awful nubmarks in place, seam lines, etc and put it on a shelf. Last year I took it apart fixed the nubmarks and seam lines and painted in full with the airbrush and weathered it. Now it’s on display as part of the permanent collection at MUFANT, the fantasy and science fiction museum in Torino (Turin), Italy!

    You're comments on the RX 78-2 reminded me of back when I didn't like the granddaddy.
    But eventually I felt I should build one and picked up the 3.0 and spent 2 weeks while being snowed in fully painting the build and detailing it (the most at the time I'd ever gone to on a kit) I felt like if I was going to build grandad, it was going to do it justice.
    That kit while a little flimsy-ish totally made me appreciate the design and its actually made me a huge fan. The 3.0's articulation, color separation and over all look is amazing, it's the one kit that seems to grab the most attention when friends come over. Then I built the Origin and oh boy was i equally impressed for it's more simple and slightly more OG feel.
    Then I build the revive, 2.0,sdxc and a couple of gundam base exclusives. I don't know what happened, but I fell in love with that suit.

I was never a huge fan of the F91 design but I saw it won Jabman's MGOTY and it was on sale so I grabbed it and I don't regret it one bit. As soon as I slapped on the F91 decal I never had the urge to add anything to it. To me it looked perfect immediately. I especially love the bazooka because of how unique it is. Idk, I guess I'm a bit bias because this is a kit that changed how I felt towards a mobile suit. I guess the only thing I'd say that could be better was that you can't really point the foot downwards.

    The MG GM Sniper II actually uses a slightly different inner-frame from the Gundam 2.0. Yes, the CAD is identical, but the GM Sniper II (Sniper Custom, GM Command, Cold Districts, etc.) all use a KPS version rather than the original's ABS. • @Smilomaniac
    @Smilomaniac 4 года назад +4

    If I had to recommend one RG, if it's the only one you'd ever buy, it'd have to be the Tallgeese. The build is so much tighter than the three titans (Sazabi, Nu and Unicorn).
    The weapons of the other ones, while nice, feel like your typical sandwiched gunpla guns, but the dovergun looks and is much more intricate and has moving parts and articulation.
    I can find faults with all of the RG kits, but with the Tallgeese there are none. The only concern, and it is very slight, is that the gloss white plastic is harder and therefore more brittle, meaning you have to be more careful with it.
    I got the Tallgeese because I heard the build was good. It's not, it's the best.
    The looks are what is going to kill it for most people and I got the kit in spite of that. Having had it for a while now, it's grown on me and I have to admit that it looks pretty damn good.
    Personally the Unicorn is the most disappointing of all of them. It's impressively designed, but in Unicorn mode there are gaping holes between plates everywhere and the white plastics feel and look cheap. My guess is that they had to use more flexible plastic in order for it not to break during handling.
    I don't mind seam lines that much, but the ones on the Unicorn would've been unforgivable if it wasn't for what it does. If you love the Unicorn, get two and glue together the one in Unicorn mode.

    1) I was watching this and couldn’t stop thinking about how much I liked his shirt lol
    2) I cant speak on the hg line it’s never been my favorite but the MG line I completely agree with. The only ones I don’t own but are in my HLJ wishlist were the RX78 origins version, hyakushiki 2.0, and the turn x.
    3) I finally added the RG unicorn to my wishlist too. I consistently hear great things about it.

      One advice about RG Unicorns (in general):
      They have a lot of small parts. Be carefull when assembling that

    • @briannam2871
      @briannam2871 4 года назад

      Rg unicorn also has infamously stiff shoulder joints, they come with the hinge set straight and more inexperienced builders tend to break that joint when you bend it for the build

    I like this past decade series 😀👍 becoz some if them I don’t have and most people just focus on newest gunpla, for me it is interesting to take a look back of old gundam kits.
    Can you also make best gundam kits of 2000-2010?

    Hi thank you so much for this advice. I am just getting into gunpla as more or less an afterthought in my robot collection, I'm mainly into diecast stuff such as chogokin (including Gundam), G1 transformers and such. My first Gundam was the PG unleashed and now I've ordered pretty much all of the patlabor stuff from good smile.
    Anyway I would hope my request is a good idea, that you do a video on best scale interpretation of a particular Gundam such as the Zaku II. Because many of us absolutely do not have room for multiple representations but still care more about quality than space.

Its gorgeous piece of art, although I kinda rush to build it (9 hours with eating and bathroom break of course). Now I have on hand barbatos MG, but didnt start to build it yet cause I would like to take my time to finish this one.

    TBH i prefer the 2.0 RX-78-2 to the 3.0.
    They're pretty much the exact same kit but the 3.0 has unnecessary colour seperation like the RG to homage the 1/1 Gundam that once stood in Japan
    It helps that only the 2.0 version has all 3 RX-78s; the Proto, Grandpa & G-3.

    Really nice to see a broad listing across the range for general good quality kits like this.
    Ever done any other themed line-ups like: top tier funnels, best beam swords, best boosters, notable gimmicks, or most unique kits, peak quality (similar to this one just without the quality for the $ component to show off just how good the kits can get)- videos?
    Seems like these would leverage your broad knowledge across all these different kits.
    Also who’s the character on that poster in the background over left shoulder (camera right)? Don’t recognize them & where they’re from.

    I just finished the hi-nu ver ka. It came out really nice I don't recommend it for beginners. Those three piece water slides for just one side of the funnels. so you have to do it 12 times and will never stick completely no matter what you try. It looks great from the other side of the room.

It's just amazing, I have built most of the RG and MG that in the list and totally agree with that, I need to get the ZZ ver ka sometime tho.... Nu and Sazabi, no doubt fantastic kit.

      The MG Full Armor is one of my favorite kits so far! The colors, all the different display options with weapons and armor, plus the small gimmicks like the core fighter are wonderful. However, I'll admit that it's not an easy one to recommend due to the joint covers. They look great, but also a pain in the ass.

    I expected the RG kits and most the MGs, I picked the Turn X up at a con in late 2018, and even though I received the Sazabi ver Ka for Christmas I marked the ZZ ver Ka and Turn X as the two best kits I made that year. Those two are just fantastic kits and great looking. I would gladly buy several more MG Jestas to have a squad of them and customize them as well, it's such a nice looking and fast build, with most the panel lines actually being made up of separate parts.

    I am just getting into Gundam but haven't watched any of it yet apart from Episodes 1 of the first series and Gundam Wing. I want to get 2 RG kits as I like the 1/144 scale and price and was wondering what I should get. I want one kit from Gundam and one from Gundam Wing. I really like the Gundam Wing EW but it looks too similar to the RX-78-2 so what would be a good Gundam kit to go with it? I've been thinking about the RX-93 V from Char's Counterattack but I don't like those funnel things at the back. Can i display it without them?

    the ZZ is a cool build. Even if I'm still not quite sure how the legs end up coming together.
    I think I would have put the 00 qan[t] over the riser, but it's certainly possible i messed up parts of the riser's build that made stuff fall off it easier than they should.
    And even if they're not, strictly, gunpla, I think the 30MM deserve an honorable mention.

    So many grunts! Some weird picks on there but still covered the essentials, I think.
    I would have included RG Mk II; it's straightforward but super solid and detailed and really fun to build. But I build more RGs than MGs in general so I am a bit biased. I generally steer clear of anything physically larger than an average MG.
    Barbatos really sliding in there as late addition. I'm nearly done this one (waiting for XY decals since I hated the Evo ones), and I had so much fun detailing it. Really took my time and I love how it's coming out.

  • @lilruss15
    @lilruss15 4 года назад

    to me, I think articulation does not matter THAT much just because most of the time it will be posed on a shelf and be touched again in a relatively long period of time. except for some of the assaulting or sniping ones, I usually just tend to stick with the Ver. Ka type of stand on my table. If it is not WAY too below the average like it cannot hold the pose the first time you just snapped it without any moving or the time when its knee or elbow is only able to move 45 degrees, then I think it is a pass. Personally, the fun from building the Gunpla is the time when you snip out of the pieces and then you finally finish with your painting. It focus more on the process and the look and the storyline behind the MS or the pilot than it being an actual 'toy' to play

    Dude I’m kinda scared to buy the rg sazabi because it’s shoulder joints break easily

    • @DrossProwler
      @DrossProwler 3 года назад +1

      Don't be. The shoulder joints break because people don't merge the halves completely. You will notice that the shoulder joints have a small peg, so it kinda looks like you're inserting a key into a lock. Once the "key" is *all the way in and clear of the surrounding plastic*, you can rotate as the manual tells you to.
      Here is a very well documented process of building that section: gaijin-gunpla.com/2018/08/rg-sazabi-wip-pt-4/
      All in all, just read the manual carefully, make sure everything is lined up properly, and don't force anything. You'll be fine.
