But as a Dutch person, I hope England get lucky and somehow win by pure luck because I think England would be much easier to beat in the semis than Switzerland. But at that point I hope England don't luck out against us as well LOL.
Take it as a compliment, I worry about how good Switzerland is to the point I hope someone else takes them out before we have to hahaha. But man the only way England get close is by pure luck, or a magical chance by Southgate, but I think Switzerland is just gonna dominate, which would also humble British fans which tbh would be nice!

What makes Switzerland dangerous is that unlike top teams they will prepare a counter tactic to yours. And then the opponents manager has to find a response at half time.
The Scottish manager did it after Switzerland repeated Germanys tactic of the first game, Nagelsmann did a good change and Spaghetti did not.
All I can say is if England keeps playing as defensive as Italy and they give Switzerland enough chances to go ahead, they are in deep shit.
That team is very much best at defense, even if the attack is still solid…

@@generalpierogi7781 Well its a strategy. You get a comfortable lead, and then stack on full defense to make sure the opposing team doesn't even get a good chance. Them continueing to go on the attack would leave them open to counter-attacks, which would be dangerous especially knowing that England has better individuals players that can get through the defending Swiss easier if they are in few numbers. If you just put everybody on defense its EXTREMELY difficult for any attacker to get through just using their own skill, they'd have to play as a team, which Italy had been very obviously horrible at.
So in my opinion it's yet another good strategy.

Yo, I felt like I actually understand a bit more of football tactics. Thanks mate, exceptionally well done!
I have to add, that this a special time to be a fan of the swiss national team! Some of them are U19 World Champions. Granit Xhaka to me is the best player we ever had. He's so talented as a midfielder and as a captain. Xherdan Shaqiri scores at least one massive wonder of a goal each tournament. Ricardo Rodriguez used to be one of the worlds best defenders for some time, but still is a wall for us. And then I have to point out our goalkeeper Yann Sommer. He's the third world-class keeper we got in a row, yes. But unlike Zuberbühler and Benaglio he's so utterly consistent with his goalkeeping. Murat Yakin, to close my long laudatio, is the best coach since Ottmar Hitzfeld! Incredible what he can do.

England should go to a back three. Scotland handled the Swiss attacking threat pretty comfortably. Germany and Italy have fared far worse with a back 4.
Also Atalanta showed us the antidote to the Leverkusen system, which the Swiss seem to be reprising with their left side rotations and fluidity - go man for man whenever possible, and counter quickly.
I dont think Southgate will go man for man, but i think he will match the Swiss formation, and i think, if he picks players at wingback who give proper width, England will play better than everyone expects.

As a Swiss, I hope that Switzerland will bring it home against England. However, I'm a bit sceptical at all my fellow peers who seem to be convinced that we will indeed win. It isn't that obvious to me that Enland should be a trivial opponent and I think it would be dangerous for the Swiss to underestimate them.

    • @kachuleinchen
      @kachuleinchen 5 дней назад

100% agree. I will only be confident *after* a Swiss win but now? Everything is possible. Especially if Southgate is changing from a back 4 to a back 3... we could very well be witnessing a different England team than what we've seen in previous games. Switzerland has always been the underdog against big nations like England, so I would never have the nerve to confidently state that we would win. This game could go either way but if we make it, I will be very happy.

Since that day, we played 2 official matches against Switzerland. We beat them in Euro 2008, they beat us in Euro 2020 and both of these matches were played in a sportsmanlike atmosphere. And last year, the match in Euro 2008 was played again with the same squads to support the victims of the February 6 earthquake. Back 3 which becomes a back 2 sounds like City. Midfield overloads will mean they generate large number of shots...

the problem is englands player will maybe unterstand how we play but they will never learn and adapt so fast and can play an answer to it.
that is what younger egoistic players can't do because you have to do it as a team, when some players switch or move further the whole team needs to adapt
and switzerland does that in like very short time and you don't even realize it because you are in the match and struggling and they are okey now we fuggdem up now lets change the system so that the chance they can break the system sinks again you know what i mean.
