Jay Som, everyone! Gettin' TONS of airplay out here in western, MA on WRSI.....the best independent radio in New England. PERIOD (R.I.P. WFNX and WBCN...). If the station were in Boston, everyone in the indie music sector would know about it like they do with KEXP out in Seattle. This song checks so many boxes....keep it comin' yo!
Jay Som, this is nothing short of exhilarating, i.e. vibe, melody, arrangement, instrumentals, aesthetic and all. After repeated listens of this song as well as tracks from your previous and current albums, I must say this is your BEST work to date. I will make it a point to buy this album.
Heard this playing on the radio this morning and it really caught my attention. I love the raw sound of the guitars and vocals on this song. Sorta reminds me of early Death Cab For Cutie, specifically songs like Amputations or Pictures In An Exhibition.
Need not compare to anyone or anything else before, I just know that I love everything about this. The sound, your voice, and how you elicit a sense of wistful longing for something truly beautiful. (thank you.) ❤
The description online said she wanted a sound which resembled a mix between the Cocteau Twins and Alanis…. This sounds nothing like any of them. Good for her - she has her own thing! 👍🏼 Cocteau Twins and Alanis are both ethereal gifts from above and cannot be touched. You do you. ❤️
I came into youtube to listen to Baybee as I love singing and dancing to it while riding my motorbike down country roads. When I saw there was a new song called Superbike I knew it was meant to be.
Amazing tune. Although it does borrow the production values of the Cocteau Twins or The Sundays it definately stands out in its own right. Looking forward very much to hearing the album.
first started listening to this and thought it might go down the traditional whispery girl bedroom pop road, but i really enjoyed the vocal change ups and the nineties vibes.
The New Order / Smiths jangle and Cocteau Twins levels of flange say 80s, but the sunshine pop feel is 90s. I think you're right that it's 80s but wrong that the 90s was "just the bleed over."
Sad to hear you left the Bay for LA, but glad to hear SoCal is treating you well. Can't wait to hear the live improvisation between you & your guitarist on this one.
When I first heard this, I thought my minivan had become a time machine landing in 1990. Had to look at my feet to make sure I was wearing danskos and not docs lol
That guitar hook in the intro is really strong.
A perfect song, 100%. Can just listen to it on loop all day.
The ending of the song with that glider guitar is really beautiful.
Totally agreed! Perfect

thank you for the radio station recommendation. its my hobby to tune-in to different stations. enjoying this one so far.
The guitar solo from 2:50 till the end is just making me speechless...
MBV vibes.
Definitely one of my favourites of 2019. That vocal line.
Pre-pandemic was the best era. Everything felt nostalgic but fresh at the same time. Where did time go?
Wuao... One of the most beautiful songs I've heard

I love the nostalgia for the 90s this brings out in me for bands like Lush (especially at 2:50). Sounds great, Melina!
Lush is the greatest!
I immediately heard that Lush tone too!
Also Radio Head Pablo Honey era.
That aching outro at 2:50 is a GIFT. I will look up Lush !
Cocteau Twins comes to mind which is a good thing.

Sounds like The Sundays "Here where the story ends" from 1990.

I'm thinking more My Bloody Valentine.. She sounds great but not Liz Frasier great..
Mike Brindley I absolutely hear those influences in there as well. I hear a little Lush in there as well.
