I’m a 60’year old musician and my 20 year old son turned me on to real estate and love this band it’s our connection love this !!
That is so awesome!
@@CG-yf4qi so wholesome
Great band, this is mine and my wife’s travelling music, for some reason this band really cements relationships
These guy are so good.
speed at x1.50
Way too few people know of this song’s existence. I truly feel it’s one of the greatest songs ever recorded. Timeless.
You're right?
Just discovered it via Shazam at a bar. Great tune!
I totally agree, it's a little masterpiece.
Completely agree- it is a beautiful song.
Jajajaja solo más de 1 millón de personas casi nadie imbécil ❤
As soon as the guitar started, I was hooked. Didn't even make it to lyrics before I hit that like button. I have been *craving* this kind of music and didn't know.
I experienced the same thing in 2020 I heard them on the radio and instantly knew I needed this .
Amazing track, so catchy
I am subscribed nice to see you in this comment section
Yoo, it’s crazy to see my two favorite RUclips channels in one vid❤️😁
This band, and the album this is from (Atlas), is flat out awesome. My college-age son turned me on to these guys and their music. Their music is catchy as hell, so atmospheric and loaded with images that harken back to The Byrds, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Feelies, and others in that "jangly pop" genre. Fresh sounding and just pulls you in. Martin Courtney is an underrated singer and songwriter, and Matt Mondanile has one of the most distinctive and clean lead guitar sounds I've heard in years. Just love this song: I can listen to it over and over.
You are so right. How could anyone not like this song. This band is phenomenal. I'm not sure how this song could not be a massive hit. I discovered them on Satellite radio, Alt Nation maybe, which is rapidly becoming my favorite station. I'm an old dude but I love listening to new music that my son also likes. It does remind me somewhat of 60s, 70s bands. Hey those were the heydays of the best music of all time IMO.
I Like the The Feelies reference...and i hear also a lot late 80s (87-89) british indie music, aka C86 , John Peel Radio... Im pretty sure Real Estate would have been a John Peel favorite
Your Byrds-Feelies comp totally nails it-Petty not so much cause actually they were The Byrds. Real Estate toured with my band Fleet Foxes back when they were just coming up-they're super talented and way cooler than War on Drugs. Somewhat selfishly, I'd like to think just a smidg of our mojo rubbed off on 'em as well. If ya haven't already, check out Beach Fossils. "Down the Line" maybe. They too share a similar groove
Since you're open to this kind of music...
Washed out - feel it all around.
It's good, iam pretty positive you're gonna like it. Take it from a college kid.
I'm 43 and I'm drunk and have been listening to this song for over an hour straight. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
LYRICS
I'm out again on my own
A reflection in the chrome
Of an adding machine
It's been so long
My mind is drawing a blank
Don't know if I can go back
But to live out this dream
It's just my luck
I call you up
I had to hear you just to feel near you
I know it's not true
But it's been so long
I know it's wrong
I know
I don't need the horizon to tell me where the sky ends
Its a subtle landscape where I come from
I'm out again on my own
A reflection in the chrome
Of an adding machine
It's been so long
I call you up
I had to hear you just to feel near you
I know it's not true
But it's been so long
I know it's wrong
I know
I thought it was "of an addled machine" but I'm not sure that even makes sense. The best lyrics, or my favorite at least, are that way... Ambiguous in the best way.
@@jackaro2 idle machine
I can confirm It’s idle machine
but listen to and sing at x1.50. or learn how to play
2015, being lonely on my birthday hearing this song and all of your albums on repeat
this band has always been there for me in my saddest and happiest times, this song also brings me back to those years of college and when i started having friends and going out
thank you real estate
Being homesick sucks
Mexicoooo!

Ariba MEXICO!!!
¡Awww, es en mi México lindo y querido, por algo me gusta esta banda, espero que regresen pronto!
Les queremos :)
New Fan, I love it
Mi México Lindo y querido!!!!! :')
Nice record, nice group, nice video :D
I can't whaite to Octuber, for Corona Capital!!!!
This song gives me the urge to pack everything I own into a car and just go somewhere far far away
Sleep on the Floor gives me that feeling.
True
mentally pack up far away where no one can ever find you. they can never take your mind
How in the fuck is this not the best album of the last decade
This song is _so addicting_ .
Such a great dynamic, it sort of lulls you in with the ethereal guitars just jangling about while the lyrics sort of loop on and on. I can't stop playing it.
I'm 61 years young. Been listening to great music since I was 8. My college DJ son and daughter turned me on to these guys. This by far is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard!
Ducktails, Real estate and Toro y Moi is all the music I need in life.
+TheReal_Angell Nah there's more, Martin Courtney solo album about to come out
+Andrew Mortlock true true
+TheReal_Angell u sound like a metalhead limiting himself to nothing but one genre, there will never be enough music for me.
+DpoProductions agreed
I wish Chaz stayed in SC, but his music's gone
Sometimes it is hard to find a band that just hits all the right tones for me to like. So, that being said, this band played a segment on CBS This Morning last week and here I am. Enjoying a new sound and makes me feel good.
Yeah same here, heard the song on a party yestarday and I was like "what band is this?" and now I'm here. Loving it, exactly my sound
I'm Mexican but jamás me imagine que sacarán pictures about my country. For example Xochimilco.
How much is missing mondanile in this band?his guitar in this song it's like from heaven...
Their album is my favourite of the year, unrivaled so far. This song is amazing. Video great! 5 Alan thumbs up!
Exactly, i enjoy every single song from this album and never get tired of listening to it. Easily my favorite album of the year.
What a sublime sound ; Really harmonic as well.
.
I toured Europe playing guitar for Grieves and this was all I listened to on the road between venues/countries. Amazing memories that come from just hearing this album again. Thank you Real Estate for making amazing music. You guys make life more enjoyable, and thats the best thing a human can do. Fucking great album and band.
Ahhh.....feel good music....laughter, joy of friendship, community, smiles 360, youthfulness...time eternal!
When I heard for the first time this incredible song I fell in love with it, I couldn't belive that I didn't know about this band, my mind went to another world, a world of love and peace, no pain... In that time a boy showed me this and now he is my husband, I can say that he stoled my heart with this song and real estate band too. I absolute love your band and your songs, greetings for Costa Rica
p.s. sorry for my bad english..
Your English is just fine. Peace, love & music ~
I can barely describe how much I love this song.
*it's free real state*
literally
funny
This place it's called
Xochitlmilco .south of MEXICO City
got a pool in the back
perfect
their stuff is so nostalgiac and warm for me. its like a lost summer
I love real estate they're like the Beatles of our generation. I wish more people would appreciate their sound.
More like The Stone Roses...
They'd have to be way more innovative, experimental, and influencial to be compared the the Beatles
More like the Archies I believe.
@@sarahalmeida1773 these statements are proof you guys don't listen to much. this band is what the stiff little fingers are to the vibrators. They did a really good cover of "days" by television. They're just playing normal stuff that is still played nowadays. They don't play fast enough live though but whatever barely anyone has that demon drum beat anymore
The jam at the end is my favorite part.
I remember listening to this album for the first time on the bus to school, rainy day. So nostalgic now.
This chord progression always has that melancholy feel. I love this song.
Such a refreshing band...thank you guys.
México needs you back!
Great! Me at the 2:44
was a great performance from Real Estate that night
The guy with the glasses?
Must be the guy with the glasses.
Armaan yeah, that’s me!
Excellent album, excellent song... I find the sound of Real Estate so cool (kinda Indie-Beatles), it helps me relax after a hard day of work!
Amazing album, amazing tune.
At first I thought it was The Stone Roses.
yes
So nostalgic now.. crazy times guys
Oh man those guitars!! Takes me back to the mid-90s Indie days :-) Just discovered this band and I'm really loving what I'm hearing :-)
best band ever.
i am from indonesia. there is one band named PURE SATURDAY from Bandung, Indonesia, formed in 1994. I spent my teenage years listen to them, they were inspired by Stone Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure. And suddenly just found you guys here and kinda like ' where the hell that i've been? ' U guys reminds me of my teenage-indierock local idol, PURE SATURDAY, i collect their tapes,CDs, tshirt & autograph, and went to their concert, wish that I could get your tapes/vynil too, but must be very expensive to get to indonesia, wish for i-Tune or maybe spotify :)
I wish that one day REAL ESTATE would come to Indonesia and had like-tiny desk concert. I mean like your concert here would be like to-die for to watch. thank you for making great music.
13 reasons why giving Great songs for my collection.since2017😁
This breaks out heart and puts it back together again!
fucking love Hannah and Zach
Alondra Mateo deserved better...
Teotihuacan! Si vas ahí conoces 1000 bandas, todos van ahí
Nosotros los llevamos de Tour por todo México.
this will always be my favorite
Terrific. Reminds of early Fleetwood Mac -- Sands of Time.
Great flowing bass. Wow.
First timer here to this band. I really enjoy what I'm listening to.
Lots of things happen in this song with just 2 chords, so amazingly written.
Thank you Real Estate for blessing the music community with such delightful, soothing tunes. Forever grateful for your musical creations. ❤
This music relaxes
Who still rockin' to this jam during the summer 2024 ?
This is magic
Man, i love the drum on this music. So simple, but so awesome.
Heard this playing in a CD shop today. Never heard of this band before, but I just so happen to be near the artists starting with R. When I found the CD, I decided to buy it. The cashier was pleased to see I was purchasing it and told me about how their latest stuff is also really good.
I did not regret my purchase. Thank you, cashier. You’ve got good taste.
That Sound...That 8mm-16mm film stock feel.... Feeling of freedom..
True Bliss, man! I wanna go on vacation now!
Sometimes I hear Real Estate and think something is missing. Sometimes it's just right. I think I'm a sucker for a synth. A subtle keyboard would be a great accent for some of their songs. This song is great the way it is tho.
you read my mind these guys are good but it feels a little under whelming at times like they should add a light synth beat to there songs or something like that it seems flat at times where a light synthelody would fill the gaps
GauntLife I feel that way about the song "Walk in the Park" by Beach House. It kind of drives me crazy; didn't really think about how something was missing, just that there was something entirely unsatisfying about it!
Nothing is missing. They are perfect the way they are. You just haven't fully embraced it.
I'm a sucker for synth too and I understand completely
Listen to Ducktails, synth included
You guys are heaven! Love the drums and the guitars lovely beat and synchronicity.
This song was on the second season of "13 Reasons Why", but I feel like it would also be perfect for the soundtrack on the video game series "Life Is Strange".
Holy Shit THAT Guitar!!!/ Some beautiful old licks.. reminds me of mark knopfler or gordon lightfoot.
Viva México! :D
I am originally from Mexico City, but now live in Atlanta. I love watching this video to remember home and the awsome concerts at Foro Indie Rocks!
this song is just amazing, gives me all the inner peace I need. just awesome!!
How have I not heard of this band? Never too late I suppose! Good stuff
their greatest song, and i've heard em all. Saw them on the "Days" and "Atlas" tours...incredible shows each time. This band's best era is gone but I will always love them
I saw them in Austin in, I want to say 2012 but it might’ve been 2014, those years were blurry. But I remember this show so well, they played a triple encore, the entire crowd was so alive for so long, refusing to give up. It ended on this like 10 minute suburban beverage jam sesh.
What a beautiful band. This song immediately calms me down
Love the melody. Good work boyz
It's 2021 and this song is still amazing ✌️
2023 and still amazing!
Se me figura Stone Roses, que buena rola...!
Perfect Country and Perfect City for a Perfect Song and Perfect Band.
this is a true gem. Rare perfection.
I can't stop watching this video. Not only because this song is one of the prettiest melodies I've ever listened to, but this is actually the city I was born in and the city where I live. And believe me, I feel great these guys had a blast in here (I can tell by the video) and that they were able to capture the nicest side of our country and our people, far from what most people from around the world think about Mexico due to the negative info about us delivered by the vicious media. Sure, we have mayor issues (as, I believe, every country does) but this country is rich in so many cool aspects unknown to many and this video is just a tiny proof of what I'm saying. I encourage everyone watching this video and reading this comment (I assume you guys are good vibes) to visit Mexico and every other cool country all over the globe despite what others say about negativity and problems! Let's understand we are not people from a country but beings from this planet
Mexico is love
I love this song... playing and replaying... top on my summer playlist
I fucking love Real Estate on a quiet Saturday afternoon
Que padre que las bandas se den su tiempo para conocer otras culturas, conocer su música, su entorno, su comida y muchas más tradiciones. Gran banda. Nos vemos en el #CC14
Love this song but I think I like it best in Autumn / Winter. Much love and gratitude.
Such a chill, laid back tune.
I love this video, Mexico and this band. The tune of the song combines perfectly with the video. Viva mexico and this band!!
This is like the perfect fall season track
make me feel so good!!!! greetings from Brazil!!!
I can hear this song at the end of a movie with the credits about to roll or when the guy in the movie finally gets the love of his life they kiss then get married .. then there is some narration after they kiss saying like "well i went through all this now ive finally got everything i ever wanted .. (FAST FORWARDS 5 + YEARS IN STORYLINE) they have a kid together at the kids birthday party with all the family and friends there the camera slowly fades into black who else can see that?
I don't see anything. I am a blind man. *cue music*
This comment is everything
Dre DaKid--Excellent.
I just always heard it in a good Farrelly Brothers movie. It reminds me of a more sentimental type of song they'll use from time to time. Or a poignant, and less cheeky version of Pete Drodge's "If You Won't Love Me".
or wandering to an old book store, walking. Same routine diff. setting, analyzing everyones fave to no avail. Then it ends, leaving u mad like a footbol game wtf! or like when Last American Virgin ended. There has to be part 2., or ill write to the director lol
im getting such a "This Time Tomorrow" by The Kinks vibe from this
great song Real Estate. Thank you and thank you also for uploading.
Best album opener
I love this song so much but seeing this video makes me kind of sad. I know a lot of people aren't fond of Matt, but they made such beautiful music together and it seems like they all genuinely liked each other and had fun. I'm not gonna lie, I do like Julian as well but this was their golden days I feel like. I miss this.
Me too. Atlas era was their best. Now, I look forward to their new journey with Julian through The Main Thing.
I enjoy this song. It reminds me of old school '90s alt-rock. Its laidback & I dig it.
Awesome music! Fillmore last year, Sonoma next month... feelin' privileged.
excellenttt
I haven't had heard this song in so long and I forgot about it. Luckily, 13RW had it in their episode :)
watched you playing yesterday in Rock in Rio! loved it! your music is amazing
Wow I love this band.
