What should I sing in Irish next?
Stay very handsome!
... "My Heart Will Go On"? That could be interesting and lovely.
3 Score and Ten would be awesome. I feel like you would do great with that one.
White Blank Page by Mumford and Sons
7 years might be interesting to hear
Don’t Stop Believing
This gets even better when you remember that "Viva la Vida" is about the French Revolution, and the French Republic supported the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
even if the French did it to annoy the English it's a beautiful song
i could totally see this being a song the irish sing to piss off the english back in the 1700s
Of course they did. They were at war with Britain at the time!
If there is one thing we can all agree on it is: screw the English.
The French supported anything that f&*ked over England.
Ireland should forever remain proud of their great language! Please never let it die.
Couldn't agree more!
Totally agree!
Well, the good news is there has been a push to bring it back, at least in Northern Ireland and extending some to the US, I don't know how things are in the Republic as that's not where my family is from. I know my grandmother could at least read the language, and I think spoke some when I was young - single one off words or phrases I've unfortunately long forgotten. Partially cause there were certain political issues at home, and when over here (in the US) speaking English was expected and well - some people are to put it very nicely jerks to people who speak another language/differently. But me and my mom at least are looking to at least try and learn, even if it's use state side is limited.
Part of why I really like these covers is that some of her old music from Ireland is actually in the language, so even if I don't know the meanings I sometimes recognize the words said and reminds me of when I was a kid around the house and she'd play old Irish folk music or even more modern ones (or at least 'modern' as in pre-1990's that was not yet 'old').
@@anthony7697I was at a Gaelic Storm concert with my family and this nice man was telling me in the merch line that he has a tutor teaching him at his farm, which he can’t travel from often. He also was encouraging us around him to learn as well 😊
@@cryptic_kay i know old norse (northen icelandic 1650 era) but irish is definitely more my speed wish i knew it
Move away Coldplay, Colmplay is here now
Awesome man
omg perfection
Colmplay 🤣
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Well played
Their song "Yellow" will then be "Green"
@@hanzquejano7112 LOVE IT
Man I wish my grandparents had chosen to pass on Irish. They both grew up speaking it, but thought it had no place in the modern world. It’s a language built for songs and taproom disputes.
Please share more songs in it, Colm ❤
Start learning it. Every language has a place in the modern world.
“No place in the modern world” what bullshit. They did their culture a great disservice. If my family did that then I’d be a Russian, Austrian, or German.
@@walkerx1813 sadly for work I have to focus on learning French first
And lemme tell you, to me personally, that language is super hard
@@alexm-e4910 I love how diverse our IndoEuropean languages are. yet bound by common roots. We share common ancestors.
Do I know a single word of Irish? No. Is it going in music playlist? Yes.
Viva La Vida is one of those songs that pretty much always sounds great, IMO, but singing it in Irish takes it to a whole new level. Even though I can’t really understand it, it’s just got this beautiful flow to it that fits the melody perfectly.
Yes. I don't understand a word, but the Irish makes the song better.
Yeah. Joe Satriani did a great job when he wrote the melody...
I did not expect this to be entirely in Irish
Such a pleasant surprise!!!!!!!!!! This is so cool! It gives this song so much new life!
"posted 23 seconds ago" i love my timing
was this really first it was at 2 views when i saw this
Likewise
Posted 23 minutes ago for me

Yet another banger, King.
Gotta hear you do the devil went down to Georgia one day.
I second that!
As a southern boy who was born, raised and still lives in Georgia I approve this request!
YESSS!!!!
Oh yiissssss❤
YES YES YES
Never on earth would I have expected one of my favorite artists to do an Irish folk cover of my all time favorite song but WOW. This rules!!
Im irish but i have no connection to any of my culture, but this song is the first thing that has ever resonated in my soul. Like ive heard this language all my life and it just made me want to burst into joyous dance. Thank you Colm, so very much
Every time i read the "Stay very handsome", it makes me very happy :). Thank you!
I would legit pay a 100 bucks to whatever charity Colm chooses if he sang Fallen Kingdom.
In Irish? ;p
@@user-tj2en6iy8r would be even more impressive if he sang it in Khuzdul, but English would also be fine.
My late fiance loved this song! She taught me Irish when we were in university, it took a while for me to learn but I'm pretty fluent now. This video combines two vivid memories I had with her, thank you for this! Love from Sheffield!
You have to be the most talented Irish musician I’ve ever seen, and I grew up with a lot. Also, I’m always glad to see people singing in Irish keeping it alive
Dangit, I'm too early and no one has put the lyrics in the comments, so I can't sing along in a weird Southern American-interpreting-Irish mess. Somebody reply when the lyrics arrive so I can return!
Jokes aside though, great cover! The Irish singing sounds absolutely beautiful on this song!
Found some for ya. I wish you all the luck. Irish is not a phonetic language. It's one of its charms.
Ba mé, uair, Rí an domhain.
Bhog na sléibhte mórthimpeall orm.
Reált geal na maidne, é ag lasadh romham
Ach níor airigh sé riamh mo dhóthain.
Mo naimhde, chuile shaghais,
Ag iarraidh lom na fírinne a leigheas.
Sluaghairm ag canadh linn
Ar mhallacht an Rí, seanRí imithe.
An eochair i dtaisce im’ chroí
Thit as a chéile mar bheadh gadaí san oíche.
Anois mé a breathnú thar timpeall orm
Ar an ríocht a bhí ann, ab áille ar domhan.
Cloig Jerusalem iad ag seinm
Glór na n-aingeal ag ardú ionam.
Sí mo mhian, mo rogha, mo shaol,
Ní dheanfaidh muid dearmad ar an scéal.
Airím slán i m’intinn fhéin
Gan í ann ní bheadh tada - tada riamh mar inné
B’shin nuair a sheas mé ar bharr an domhain.
Mé anseo seasamh i lár gaoth aduaidh
Ag iarraidh an t-olc a chloígh gan dua.
Sluaghairm ceol is drumaí ag bualadh trom
No, ní chreidfeá an troid atá istigh ionam.
Ár misean ná go mbeidh muid saor
Ní faoi choimín ag an Béarla de shíor.
Teanna timpeall is bí ag canadh linn
D’aon ghuth nach n-airíonn sé chomh binn,
Cloig Jerusalem, iad ag seinm
Glór na n-aingeal ag ardú ionam.
Sí mo mhian, mo rogha, mo shaol
Ní dheanfaidh muid dearmad ar an scéal.
Airím slán i m’intinn fhéin
Tá fhios ‘am is féidir linn bheith gan é
Is luath go dtí an uair ann go mbeidh mé im’ Rí.
Cloig Jerusalem iad a’ seinm
Glór na n-aingeal ag ardú ionam.
Sí mo mhian, mo rogha, mo shaol
Ní dheanfaidh muid dearmad ar an scéal.
Airím slán i m’intinn fhéin
Tá fhios ‘am is féidir linn bheith gan é
Is luath go dtí an uair ann go mbeidh mé im’ Rí.
This is TG Lurgan's version, they don't seem to match perfectly, but the greater majority of it matches.
@@JackSilver1410 i am not even gonna try. i wish i knew Irish
hearing this song makes me want to learn gaelic again, would be awesome to speak the language of my heritage, thankyou for inspiring me
It’s a crime that Colm’s sub count isn’t double what it is. Fantastic cover.
The only word I can use to describe this is beautiful. You're amazing Colm.
it’s really great! it gives me the motivation to continue learning Irish! 🥰
So is ‘“Fallen Kingdom” Irish Folk version’ in the works?
I mean, this is close enough
I'd love to see his take on dragonhearted tbh
I had to dive for my headphones for this.
Never would have guessed that it works this well.
X🎶🎵👏👏👏💚
I just woke up to this?! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS AND A COVER FROM YOU?! BEST DAY EVERRRRRRR‼️
Irish is so beautiful. I am TRYING to learn it now, wish me luck!
My dad had heard your HTTYD Tavern style medley a while back and was like that's cool.
Sent him this last night, it's his heart song. His puppy's named after the song too. Your cover brought happy tears to his eyes, and earned you a new fan.
Ever amazing, Colm!
welcome new fan. you are in for a trip!
i don't understand but at the same time... i do 🥹
you are without a doubt an amazing person Colm R. McGinness, keep on pressing forward! ❤
Colm this was perfect, your music always makes me feel at home. I’m sure you are a busy guy but if you ever have the time will you do the song “rainbow connection “. Anyway thank you for sharing your talent with everyone, the world is a better place with it.
Lovely. This sounds like a perfect song for riding a motorcycle on a highway through grass desert
Was wondering why i didn't recognise this, turns out Colm has graced us with another song
I wish I could like this more than once. I might not understand the language but I love listening to it. This was very lovely.
The first song I learned to sing with an acoustic!! I didn't expect to hear it in Gaelic! Just astounding!! 😍
half of me is buttthurt i dont understand the language, but the better half of me is so happy Colm is doing more for the Celtic language than probably anyone else can and i respect that. Vive la Ireland. Your islands beauty is worth the fight.
when i saw "Irish Folk" i was expecting just the style and Music. but when you started singing in IRISH it took a couple leaps higher
TG Lurgan have pop songs in Irish as well ;)
@@Skyebright1 I love TC Lurgan
Colm, your voice continues to amaze. These covers are always wonderful. Happy Friday!
This is one of your best covers, Colm. Mind blowingly great!
Love this song, amazing to hear YOU sing it in Irish! ❤
I'm really starting to love these Irish covers. Keep up the good work
I only recently discovered you through your Goodbye cover of Arcane and I really can't stop listening to your songs. I love your voice! Best regards from Germany, keep up the good work. ❤(Love the Irish Folk version of the song by the way!)

True beaute of a song. Thank you for always making fire content for us to enjoy
Songs are so much more beautiful in Irish ❤
I didn't expect Irish Gaelic!! Beautiful
Whelp, that's it. It's time for me to take my very Irish American arse to the land of my people to find Colm and hug this man.
I was already prepared to love this, but when you started singing in Gaeilge--UGH MY HEART 🥰
I think you should sing "Mary on A Cross" by Ghost, I think it would be beautiful.
Love to hear it!
just wanna say i absolutely love you your voice and how much effort you put into these covers
can you give us your best creep - radiohead? i feel like you can absolutely nail it in your own original way
God anything, Irish is so beautiful....and your voice makes it even more so❤❤❤
One of my favourite songs ever just got better, Hon the Colm lad🍀💚
Looking forward to seeing you in concert with The Longest Johns in October. Another amazing release as always, and the collabs with Bobby and Jonathan have been incredible as well.
WOOOHOOO I love so much. So addicting thanks.
Outstanding !
I don't think you've done Suil A Ruin yet, you really should. When I think of Ireland, that's the song that comes to mind. Spent a month there, I got home a few days ago, it's an incredible country. Getting to see buildings that are 4 to 6 times older than my country really is incredible.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Woow sounds good!! 😍🔥🔥🔥
Can I just say I love your office I wish my office space can be like that love the channel love the music keep up the great work
just amazing !
I generally don't like listening to music not sung in English, but your voice is so smooth that I can't help but love your version of this song.
A song I already know and love, AND it's in Gaelic? Consider my Friday made!
This is absolutely Beautiful!
Egal, welche Stimmlage, ... eine unglaubliche Stimme!
this song is gonna do numbers.
amazing job as usual, you very handsome man!!!
As usual, perfect !
Holy smokes, I love this!
Beautiful!
What a neat idea, and it sounds awesome 😮
If I could become instantly fluent in any language of my choosing I think it’d be Irish
It works very well in Gaelic!
I love your content so so much!
Do you speak this language, or translate and memorize? If you do speak it, did you grow up with it or learn it as an adult? So beautiful! Please keep sharing with us! ❤
He’s Irish, he does know the language
@@Skyebright1 that’s so cool!
What a lovely surprise! I didn't realize you meant Irish language folk cover. Beautiful.
Amazing voice 🤩
Dear God that was amazing!
It's amazing!
Absolutely Fabulous🎉
13 minutes in and so happy I found it!
Gorgeous cover.
Another really good performance my friend! Keep up the good work!!
I'm so damn dyslexic. I clicked on this instantly thinking it was livin lavida loca
I'm straight but this man makes me think twice. What a legend!
I love it!
Ahhh this is brilliant!
It was this day that I realized I never actually listened to Viva La Vida, and thought I've been subconsciously replacing it with TryHardNinja's Fallen Kingdom this entire time.
That was awesome! The choose of the volume and the syncron with the flutes. I just dropped my mind. This language is beautiful, i would hear that in hours. Stay so creative, Colm! We love you.
Can you sing in Irish the Fairy Tale song from Alexander Rybak, please?
