I love your videos and they were super helpful for me when shopping for UV lights. Thanks!
Also, I wanted to mention two specific use cases for the uvBeast that you might like to hear -- I am an avid disc golfer, and one of my favorite times to play disc golf is at night. Some companies make glow-in-the-dark versions of their discs for nighttime throwing, and the uvBeast glows them up immediately and incredibly well! Most lights require you to hold the light on the disc for a few seconds, or to repeatedly recharge the discs, but the uvBeast seems to immediately charge the glow up to its full potential with a simple 1-2 second flash.
The other use case might be my favorite -- even though not all disc golf discs glow in the dark, they are all made out of plastic which is often colorful and as a result responds well to UV light. One of the worst feelings is losing your favorite disc under a pile of leaves, or in a bush, under a log, or in some tall grass after a long throw, etc. So, when that happens to me or my friends, I go back to the course at night with the uvBeast and simply look in the area where it landed. Usually within a few seconds the uvBeast will reveal where the disc is hiding!
You mentioned in another video that you're not sure why you would need to light up something with UV from a long distance, but this is a really important feature for me. Sometimes discs are stuck high in trees, or sunk to the bottom of a creek, or some other difficult terrain that is hard to navigate while searching. But even at 100 feet away, most discs will pop with bright UV reactive color as soon as the beam comes near them. It's amazing! Thanks again for your videos!
@mike rowe That is really good to hear. I know this UV flashlight is powerful, but to hear it first hand on this type of use case is great information. Thank you!
Great reviews on both flashlights btw... I have the 365nm and I use it for work bosses all had the 385s so our debate was eazy i won but still want a mini thats one id like to try
Thank you! Agree with the 365nm all the way! The mini is great for carrying around in the pocket.
Thank you so much for your research. Had to find a uv light fast. Hope I made the right decision getting the uvbeast 385 v3 for pet stains
Definitely can’t go wrong with either or. Thank you!
UV Black Lights.... Just found your channel and video's, as I'm researching UV "Flashlights", and have subscribed to your channel after watching several of them tonight...Great Info!! I have already pretty well decided on the "Beast" lights, but not sure which would be best. We need one for spotting those darn "Tomato Worms" on the Tomato plants in our garden, which we've been doing in the late evening / early "dark thirty" to see them better with the "El Cheapo" (395+/- Nm) that my wife bought somewhere on line last year. Also, which would be better for spotting Brown Recluse spiders (if at all possible??)... the 385Nm or the 365Nm?
I also want one that would be good for spotting any possible fluid leeks (water, oil, anti-freeze, etc, etc) in the house, or on any of my engine powered vehicles. Would any particular One, be good for all those possible uses, or should I look at getting a couple of different ones for the different applications.... ie; Garden / house, vs - shop and vehicles??
Thanks SO much for your input, and will be watching for more of your videos... I appreciate what you do, and I'm quickly discovering more potential uses for good quality UV "flashlights" even through just the few of yours that I've watched so far, tonight. Thanks again for your time and response to my questions (hopefully, you'll see and read this).
PS: Just out of curiosity, the "El Cheapo" UV Flashlight we currently have (395Nm)... which "looks like" a whole bunch of others with 100 LEDs in the 15 - 20 dollar range & powered by 6 AAA Batt's in two modules..... seems to have developed a problem..... tonight, and first use of the year in the garden, I put in 6 brand new triple A's after testing each of them with my Multi-meter to get 6, that were all reading exactly the same output (1.57 volts).
After approximately 15 - 20 minutes of use checking the Tomato Plants... I removed the two battery modules to retest the voltage, and noting that in my hand the batteries were quite warm, which I suspected may have been due to excessive & rapid discharge. The Multi-meter showed that they had all dropped from 1.57 down to 1.22volts!! At that rate, I will be changing batteries 2 or 3 times a week, as we have to check for those Tomato killing worms, Every evening/night from now through late fall.... does that seem "right" to you?
I put another Fresh set of batteries (1.57volts each) back in the UV flashlight, and turned it on for just 2.5 minutes... then removed and retested the batteries again with my Multi-meter.... they ALL (6) dropped from 1.57 down to 1.42. / 1.41volts.... in just 2.5 minutes!! Is this "normal", or is this due to a cheaply made and inefficient UV flashlight?? Your thoughts.. ??
@2Stroke Diesel Power For the Tomato Worms, you can’t go wrong with either. My personal preference is always the 365nm, as you get true UV and it will work for all applications. As for brown recluse spiders, I’m not sure if those fluoresce under a blacklight.
For fluid leeks, again either or will work for that. You know I like the 365nm, one reason is no visible purple light from the 385+, much easier to detect things.
The “El Cheapo’s” sounds like it was made poorly and the driver is about to burn out. I tend to stray away from the flashlights that use AAA batteries, especially more than 4 of them. In my opinion, if it doesn’t use 18650 rechargeable batteries, it’s not really good.
I hope this helps, if you have any questions down the road, feel free to ask! Thank you for subbing and watching. Mahalo!
I prefer 365 nm, but I would say 395 nm is better for hunting scorpions, as we require additional visible light for seeing or walking in darkness.
I used a 365 nm UV light and a UV test card to determine if my glass absorbs UV rays. It turned out to be quite interesting; it blocked most of the UV at 365 nm but not at 395 nm. Before acquiring the 365 nm light, I had believed my glass was fake.
Definitely agree with the extra light for scorpions!
The 395nm doesn’t have much UV coming out of it, so what you’re probably seeing is the visible light going through.
Haven’t watched South Park in ages.
Great video! Just subscribed 🤘🏼
What nm would you recommend to charge glow plastic? Like glow disc golf discs? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Welcome to the fam!
I would recommend 365nm. Although 385nm will work as well.
I saw a notification on your comment but don’t see it?
Still says comment not found. It’s being deleted for whatever reason.
I was wondering what 356 or 390 nm does to dielectric beam splitting glass reflection??
Please do a video on beamsplitters and black light refraction spectrum
I’m not familiar at all with all that. I’ll have to do some research.
Using UV to search for my fluorescent disc golf discs when it's a little darker outside or when they have landed at a darker place (like a thicker forest or some fir trees bunched together).
Wondering if there is strong enough UV to be able to spot them at daylight. Like can UV even spot fluorescence at daylight?
Also which of these torches would be better to search discs with when it's a bit darker outside? It kinda feels like it's the same situation as with scorpions, that you want some extra light to surround them.
If it’s daylight unfortunately you won’t be able to detect it as the daylight would be too bright for the UV to see anything.
If you want extra purple visible light go with the 385nm.
Bro, I love your channel! its super cool.
Thanks bro! Appreciate it
Did you ever attempt to use the extension and add a third battery? It should raise voltage from 7.4 volts to 11.1 volts - somehow UV Beast seems to overlook this change in voltage, only mentioning the longer use. You have the setup to really test such an upgrade's results!
I really didn’t have a use for it, so I never tested it out.
In response to your response on best nm for horn worm you responded with 365 but in this video you mentioned the 395nm would be better for searching.
At 3:05 you recommended the 395 for scorpions, wouldn’t horn worms and scorpions be in the same category ?
All depends. If I personally was hunting for scorpions, I would take the 385-400 for the extra visible light, especially if it’s pitch dark and depends where you’re hunting.
Horn worms, I would expect you aren’t in dangerous areas, so the extra visible light might not be needed.
@@UVBlackLights I see now ! Much appreciated! I bought a “Escolite UV Flashlight Black Light, 51 LED 395 nM “
Back in the day from Amazon before my uvbeast 3 with filter 365nm.
The 365nm is way better but the beam is to focused . I wouldn’t mind 365nm with a wider spread. Hope your family is doing well ttyl
@@ReefMimic Agree on the too focused, I've yet to find one that has a bigger spread. I know there is one out there, just haven't done as much research. All is well here, thank you. Hope you and the fam is doing well also!
I have bought so many UV lights since you started this channel, so I’ve given away all except my favorite one! 😂😂😂😂
Haha the addiction is real! Which is your favorite?
whats the favorite one?
I just purchased the 385 for scorpion hunting what's is your best recommend light for that purpose
That is what I would use, much safer with the extra visible light from the 385nm.
Hello friend, you already have a new subscriber, a question that I would recommend a flashlight for uv minerals, a 365, 385, 390 or 395 thank you very much for your time and your educational channel I hope you continue to grow much more.
Hello! I would recommend 365nm for minerals. There are also some minerals that only work with shorter wavelength around 254nm. Appreciate the kind words. Thank you for subbing and watching!
Nice video (thumbs up) ... quick question.. I just ordered the Acebeam X80-UV .. would the UV Beast 365 outperform the X80-UV ? I like the UV filter btw, do you think one could put over a UV filter on the Acebeam X80-UV ?.
I’ve never tried to Acebeam, but from the tech sheet, I would say the Acebeam is better quality and stronger output. Wish I had the money to buy that one!
@@UVBlackLights I wish i had your teeth, mine are falling out.... ^_^ priceless.
I have the Acebeam X80-UV now and it's very bright indeed + i like that it has 4 white LED's aswell so you are not in complete darkness.
😅
Yeah that two in one flashlight looks nice!
What about the eye protection? What will you going to suggest for protecting eyes in case of insect photography with 365 and 385 models?
Any UV safety glasses should work. Although it’s kind of hard to see out of them if you’re trying to take pictures.
Hello What UV light would you recommend for a bedroom I have UV contact lens and also watch UV flashlight would you recommend if I wanted to use a flashlight of course I wouldn’t shine in directly in my eye lol just something to use to show the UV contact lens
I would go with the 365nm UV beast in this video.
Pardon me I got a silly question.
What sort of battery does the 365 model use?
Do they use the same ones as the 385-395 model?
Yes same type of batteries.
I'm new to large UV lights I was about to buy the 385NM v3 as a more powerful replacement for my olight 365NM mini uv light. I use it to find pet stains, leaks, and other household tasks. You think the 385 will be fine or is it worth the extra bucks for the 365NM?
Great video thanks in advance
For those applications I would go with the 365nm. I just think the purple visible light from the 385nm washes out a lot of pet stains and other detections.
@@UVBlackLights Thanks!

Hello I found your videos on Instagram well looking at different models of the UVBeast. I want to use the best one for displaying glass art in videos do you recommend the 365 or 385? And if you say 385 would u recommend a 365 to find very small lost glass art outside in the grass? Or should I get both? Thanks for your videos appreciate them and looking forward to your response sir !
I would use the 365nm to show it's true colors and 385nm if you're out hunting in darker areas. It'll give you more safety precautions. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
@@UVBlackLights thank you for the fast reply I just ordered both 🤗
@@erikanthony4991 No problem at all! Cool, I hope it works out for you!
@@UVBlackLights one more quick question I noticed both of these UV flashlights do not come with protection glasses from the UV - is there a certain kind u recommend? I’d like to have like 5 of them so for anyone in my area will be protected that wants to see it 🤗
@@erikanthony4991 the UV beast 385nm comes with safety glasses but they don’t block out the UV very good. I don’t really have a recommendation, but if you google UV safety glasses you’ll get good results. I would go with the colored ones like orange or red. Btw good safety glasses are very hard to see out of just keep that in mind.
Would you be able to review the Olight I5UV EOS UV flashlight? Maybe compared to another pocket uv light like the uvBeast V3 365nm MINI

How does the UVB V3 365 compare to the V3 365 mini? I’m considering the mini plus a decent charger and some extra 18650 batteries. Does the mini project a similar beam width as compared to the V3 365? I’d prefer more beam width instead of a tightly focused beam. General household and garage use.
If you prefer a more beam spread, I would go with the UVB V3. The mini is strong, but not as big of a spread. Can’t go wrong with either. I like the mini as well cause of how compact it is. I really need to do a side by side comparison with those two.
@@UVBlackLights
Thanks. Initially I was interested in the 385-395nm lights, but the more I investigated, the 365nm lights seemed to make more sense. I like the compactness of the mini. I’d really like to see your comparison of these 365nm lights.
@@speedlever I’ll try to make the video ASAP, work has been taking control of my life lately. Did you have anything in particular you wanted to see in comparison, beside the beam width? If I have the resources I’ll add it in the video.
@@UVBlackLights
Thanks for your efforts. I’ve never had one before so not sure exactly how I’ll use it once I track down all the pet stains and scare myself checking out nasty bathrooms in the house. I have a daughter into digging for crystals/minerals… not sure how applicable a UV light will be in the field, but I imagine the mini might be more useful in that environment. Might have to get one of each.
Don’t rush out a video just for me. Not sure if the UVBeast flashlights are over hyped by marketing or if they’re as well designed and built as the marketing would have me believe.
@@speedlever the mini is great for things like checking for stains and bathrooms. For outside unless you need long distance, the UVB V3 would be better.
The UVB V3 seems well built, the power has no complaints by me, and the body doesn’t feel cheap.
No rush on the video, I’ve been wanting to do more comparison videos. 🤙🏻
i have a question - with my infrared photography i have a 590nm Ir internal filter and that means everything from 590 down is blocked so do these UV flashlights do the same? if i got this right the UV blocks everything from that number up and that would explain why the 385 would have more visible light.
Hello! The wavelength determines how much visible light comes out. There is more visible light from the 385nm because you’re getting closer to the visible light spectrum where as 365nm is more true UV and not much visible light. The filter on the 365nm just blocks out some of the visible light that leaks out.
Check out ruclips.net/video/t10pXsKqyDg/видео.html this explains the wavelength.
@@UVBlackLights right so everything above those numbers are blocked but with infrared filters everything from those numbers down is blocked. a 590 Ir filter will allow everything from 590nm up to pass through the filter and everything below that number is blocked. but it looks to me like with UV everything below those numbers is allowed to pass through but everything above those numbers is blocked.
@@gpaerv correct, the filter doesn’t block any UV at all.
Which ones would be best for mold detection when inspecting ventilation air ducts.
Unfortunately, I’m not too sure about that. If I were to guess, probably 365nm.
Dope videos as always. I got a dumb question maybe you could answer. I need to flood a room with light to charge glow in the dark items from a distance. The uvbeasts are ok but just for spot charging. What light could I use the flood the whole room so I can charge everything in one shot? It's a race track.
How big of an area are we talking about? Thanks for the comment!

For scorpion hunting, which one would you recommend? And why? Thanks
@cv I would personally go with the 385nm. I’ve never went scorpion hunting, so take my opinion lightly, but I figure I would need the extra visible purple light to see my surroundings at night.
What Uv flashlight would you reccomend if we want to light someone up that is body painted with reflective body paint?
I would go with the 365nm for that application. Please becareful and not flash it in their eyes though.
@@UVBlackLights i agree after watching your videos I have a better understanding! Can I ask what Uv flashlight you would recommend? wanting the subject to really pop.
@@UVBlackLights i am looking for more of a wider spread of light as we will be very close to the subject.
@@nathanielkalt7417 I really only know the UV beast to have a wider spread. It’s very hard to get a huge spread on any UV flashlights. To be honest I would recommend a UV light fixture, you’ll get a lot more coverage.
@@nathanielkalt7417 also, I don’t recommend 5’ and closer if the person is going to be exposed for long periods at a time.
If you remove the filter from the 365nm model does it perform the same as the 385-395nm model? To ask this another way, if the filter is installed on the 385/395nm model does it perform the same as the 365nm model? I’m wondering if they use the same LEDs, but the filter just removes most of the visible light and leaving the 365nm wavelength to pass through. According to the manufacturer’s specs, the 385 model has 44% more UV Radiant Intensity (1950mW vs 1350mW) and 50% more UV Irradiance (8100uW/cm2 vs 5400uW/cm2).
It won’t perform the same if you put the filter on the 385nm model. The LEDs are what determines the wavelength. You will cut out more visible light from the 385, but you won’t have true UV at 365nm.
I believe the 385nm has higher UV output because it doesn’t have the filtered glass. Filtered glass does block out some UV.
What one is better at charging glow in the dark plastic?
The 365nm version would be best. Puts out more UV for the charge.
I just purchased do UV beast 365 to my eyes when I remove the filter I nearly virtually see no difference in light output they’re both very bright in my eyes.
My coworker sees a big difference my girl sees a big difference so the problem lies with my eyes.
When removing and placing the woods filter lens in front of the lights on and off on and off both look equally as bright to me other people tell me there’s a big difference.
But it’s extremely Florences my UV dye for refrigerant leak testing excellent product
There should be a difference, as the filter blocks out the visible light, but also can block out the output. But either way, you can't go wrong with the output.
which is better for checking cash 365 or 385
I would go with 365nm.

@@11Evalone Totally understand where you're coming from. All I can really say is the 365nm beast is just as advertised. I've had no issues with it and the power is amazing. If you're buying from Amazon, get both and return the one that doesn't fit your need.
Have you seen the “LIGHTFE” uv flashlight o Amazon that claims 20,000mW of 365nm light? It’s almost $300, And I’m sure it’s nowhere near 20W of actual optical output power… But I bet it packs a big punch given the brand of LEDs they’re using, which is a really good and well respected brand… Not near Cheer, not LG… But Seoul viosys has been around for a long time, and they’ve made some huge advancements and UVLED technology… And are a wonderful company.
I would guess that light claiming to be 20,000mw output is 5,000mw maximum. Even if it is 5000 Mile watch… They’re pushing those LEDs too hard and they will fail soon.
But that’s still ridiculously bright! A little over priced maybe… But 5 watts of optical power is in sane and dangerous! And I don’t mean “5W of power”.....Like all of the UV lights claim anywhere from 3w, 5 W, some even claim 10W and 15w. Even if they are pushing anywhere near that power… That’s NOT OPTICAL OUTPUT POWER!!!! Those crazy inflated numbers are for DISSIPATED POWER.
The actual optical output power is what I light is supposed to be advertised as.... any light source… flashlights, lasers, whatever type of light source. Other than lightbulbs you screw in at home.
If a light claims 10 W of power… That means a dissipated power. Which would give it somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 to 3W of optical power. And that’s if everything is designed well with direct thermal path mcpcb’s, and a lot of thought put into it.
I would love to see that 20,000mW light reviewed. I’d like to see how it compares to my ACEBEAM X80- UV, but at half the price…
By the way… No way I paid the retail $500 for my acebeam x80uv flashlight. I snagged it on eBay for a ridiculous deal! I could never afford the $500 price of a new one.
But it is an incredible piece of engineering.… Housing 16 of the best nichia 365nm LEDs ever made.. each one easily capable of 1000mw of optical output power.
I don’t think they’re pushing it that hard… I haven’t measured the current but I’m guessing it’s at least 10,000mW actual optical output power (also called radiant flux).
It’s Face melting that’s for sure. If I assume the ace beam is 10 W optical power… That would make it at least 3 to 5 times more powerful than any of the UV beast flashlights. But honestly… The UV beast lights are wonderful lights for the price… And there’s absolutely no need for a more powerful UV light.
I really enjoy your channel! Would love to see you do some tear downs and DIY mods of UV lights. Come join us over at budget light forum… It’s much easier than you think and it’s really fun and addicting!
Hello! Very good break down and information that people need to know!
I've seen that LIGHTFE on Amazon and as good as it sounds, it's just too pricey for me too do a review on. I can try to reach out to them, but I doubt they'll respond to me. I'm very familiar with Seoul viosys and they do put out some good UV LEDs.
I'll have to do some reading on that acebeam you have. The nichia LEDs alone caught my interest. I believe nichia has the best UV LED currently.
I'll check out the budget light forum for sure. Thank you!
So am guessing the 365 is for when you are doing doing serious business. Gotta get them all!
Yes! It's nice to have both though.
@@UVBlackLights That settles it for me, I am definitely going to get a 365 now. It will go well with my 385-395 model and the V2 model.
@shivas thong you should definitely have a 365nm model in your Arsenal. Especially if you’re lighting up UV materials!
👍👍👍
Thank you 👊🏻
Perhaps you could try these and see how they are? flockenhaus.de/shop/uv/uvschwarzlichtlampen/uvledlampe.php4 and flockenhaus.de/shop/uv/uvschwarzlichtlampen/uv-inspektionslampe.php4
Can I purchase these on a US website ?
@@UVBlackLights not sure. Came across that website while finding blacklights to get. Found another from japan, www.southwalker.com/sp/. Hopefully there is way to get them to other locations.
@@luunatik10 let me know if you find one in the US lol. Thanks
Intro is cringe AF...
Thanks !
recently bot a uv beast v3 365nm flashlight. took out to desert tonite! it is by far the best uv rkhnd. lite ever. great range, super pure uv light. doesn't flood out, maintains narrow(just right) focus. uv lights eat batteries. i use 3 batts in light and carry 3 spare. obviously i use the extender provided in the kit. go ahead, spend the $, its worth it!
Definitely agree. Thanks for watching and the feedback!!
