Another i3s owner here who would order the Michelin if they were available. As usual a thoroughly informative video for the i3 owner. Keep up the good work.
I am a loyal Michelin customer with PS4S and Cross Climates on other cars. I would absolutely go for e.Primacy if they were available for the i3S. Thanks for a great video as always!
Would be great to see Michelins available for the i3S. The Bridgestones are quite 'acoustically tuneful' on certain road surfaces, particularly concrete. 😖
i3s owner here, waiting for Michelin to make an option for the R20 wheels. They will need replacing in the near future and I would be really happy to have alternative to Bridgestone
I definitely would go for a full set of Michelin for my i3s 20” 175 front / 195 rear. Please push an keep doing more fantastic videos about the BMW i3!!
My I3s tyre got a screw in it so had to replace it. Only offered Bridgestone, would be nice to have a choice and maybe high price will come down with alternatives available. The Michelin looks better so I would have bought that given a choice. Great video as usual.
Do you ship to the USA? I’ve been waiting for this video. Michelin is not available in the USA for the i3. Let’s go Michelin! We need you here as well!
We have both an i3 and an i3S - we have the Michelin e-primacy tyres on the i3 in 20” and there’s a huge positive difference in ride quality between the stock Bridgestone tyres and the Michelins. We’d love the same tyres on our i3S… Mr Michelin - if you’re reading this - please give the i3S the option to use the Michelin range of tyres available to the i3. You have an enthusiastic market out here!!
yes i am interested in mitcheling fod my i3s, love mitcheling , used it on my other card. i3s 20 wheel can not handle backroads nor sharp edge potholes.
Thanks for all the info Martin. I am the owner of a 2017 94 ah from Spain. I recently changed the real wheels from bridgestone to michelin e primacy (175 size) the front ones are in quite good condition. First 1000 km dsc showing in every quick turn, supposedly due to the wax coating when. Now after 2000 km the dsc issue has disappeard but the car in the highway is more unstable, you have to be constantly correcting the direction. I had the direction aligned with no improvement. Next step is replacing the front tires too and cross fingers it improves handling. Overall I feel the michelins are way better than the Brigestones and also a bit more energy efficient, but I am a bit worried with the car being more unstable in the highway.
I had to replace the rear tyres on my i3s at only 11,500 miles. Kwik Fit couldn’t get the originals so I had i8 front tyres fitted ( same size but much higher speed rated) they seem better with more tread but time will tell how long they last.
I run the 20" e-primacy on my i3s. Had to get the 215 for the rear. It is not recommended because the narrow rear rim. But it works and no problems yet. Looks ok to. Does not look to wide compared to the rim.
Absolutely, come on Michelin, you make ill buy them , i3s owner brand new car but I've been looking at tyre options ( quality /prices) already. Wisely a stockist that's even better-
An i3s owner who would like to see the 195 option tyres in many more brands then Bridgestone just to get the price down a little. Also whats with the short tyre tread depth? Have seen a medium range tyre in 195 for just over £100 each, these were XL so maybe more options on the way.
I have a REx and I’ve always preferred Michelin tyres on every other car I’ve ever owned. Pretty please, get the staggered rear Michelins for the rear sorted out 😁
Thanks Martin, another great video, keep up the good work! I would also be interested in a Michelin alternative to the Bridgestone tyres for my i3S. Ideally with more initial tread depth and a competitive price compared to a set of Bridgestones.
Thanks for the informative video, watched a while back. Thought I would also chip in with a request for Michelin to make the correct sizes available for the i3s. I have Michelins by choice on other cars, annoying when the don’t come as std fitment but worse when they’re not available at all in the correct sizes. Cheers again for the video.
For i3 winter wheels I ordered a set of 19" from an Italian company called MAK. They only make one style in three colour options. They are holding up well - where I am we have similar weather to the UK.
Another request for Michelin tyres for the i3S from here too. Always used them on my other cars and disappointed not to have the choice available. Looking for both all season and summer tyres please
@08:06 If you look at original BMW i3 catalogs from 2016 and earlier, the handed 428 wheels should all be in the "incorrect" rotation that you have X'ed out in the picture! I agree that your suggested setup looks better, but the designers at BMW wanted them to go the other way! I'm unsure if that was due to efficiency, or esthetics.

Hey Martin, question: with regard to the i3s 20 inch summer tyres… are there still no options for the Bridgestone tyres from either Michelin, Continental or Pirelli 2 years on now? Regards, Frank
One of the biggest issues with the i3 has been the tires, the Bridgestone tires don't last very long, on my 3rd set of snows on a 2017. $1200.00 can. Hopefully the Michelin tires are available in Canada 🇨🇦, thank you for the information
I wish you were in the states! I just purchased a 2014 i3 all electric with the Tera package and I’ve been looking for a winter tire set up and it’s difficult. I have to buy the rims.
Fantastic tyres on my bmw I3s unfortunately only front as Michelin not doing 195 tyres on 20 inch tyres!! Come on Michelin you need to up your game against Bridgestone
Hi! thanks for yours videos!! I think that in Europe it is possible to mount the primacy in 195/55 R20 measurements on the rear wheels of the i3s, since this measurement does not exceed 3%
I've got a question. the diameter of 195/55r19 matches 155/70r19 (as well as 175/60r19, indeed), Martin mentioned in other video it's risky (from accident and insurance point of view) to put anything else on the car, but 5J rim can accommodate up to 175mm tire as well as 5.5J rim can 195mm tire. on top of this, Michelin offers e-Primacy in both 175mm and 195mm widths and using i3s wheel arches would "hide" the tires under wheel arch just fine.
driving in US northern New England & Canada, i love my Michelin Ice-X on my Subaru. now that i have an i3s, i'd dearly love to get it shod with Michelin winter tires for i3s. right now outside the window is snow & freezing rain. hook me up.
Another good video. Unfortunately as a i3s REx owner I have no choice and stuck with Bridgestone Ecopia but I wanted to ask if you really recommend sticking with the same manufacturer and compound for all four wheels. The rears on i3’s do wear more heavily than the fronts so it is unlikely that you would need to replace all four tyres at the same time. Obviously you would have all weather or winter on one axle and another compound on another but for those looking to change the original Ecopia’s on the back (or front) are any other manufacturer tyres acceptable and if so which would be the most compatible? Also if you have the misfortune to get a non repairable puncture up to what tyre depth difference is acceptable on the same axle. Thanks
Thanks Martin …Do you know if COSTCO in the USA would have the 20” Michelin’s ? ….or any other dealer here? I would not need the winter version here in California. I am a new owner of a 2016 i3 with only 30,000 miles all electric. Your videos are very informative & well made for us consumers.

Yup! Costco quoted me over $1300 for a full set of Ecopias on my 20" staggered wheels (2015 REX). I'd love to switch to an all-weather tire but I think I'm stuck unless I replace the wheels. PLEASE i3S tyres!! £508 for two rear tyres from BMW is a con!
Please Michelin in US/Canada!!! Otherwise looking at ways to import 195/55/20 Michelins into North America. Will not buy a set of Bridgestones.
As a I3S owner, I am disappointed by the lack of tyres we have....basically or Bridgestone (poor quality according to me, and hyper expensive). If I knew that, I would buy an other brand, even if I like my car, I have to drive with 155 tyres during winter, or the I3S is 4 cm larger than the I3, so the aesthetic is just......uggly!
