    Love my Ferguson to-30. 70 something years old and still runs like champ.

    I knew how the system worked but I watched every second of this film. I even rewound when the guy hit the metal stakes. I was impressed how the little tractor could lift the heavy implements at the end without the front coming off the ground. No wonder the industry adopted this system. Thanks J and L.

    Thanks for posting the videos that you do. Just bought a 56 to-35 at auction. This original footage gives a perspective on what was going on then.

    Love my 53 too. A neighbor makes fun of it, but we fed the world under the Marshall plan with such tractors. Trying to find a distributor cap for it right now, but good running tool no mater what.

    I've noticed that the Ford and Fergusons have the carburetor on right side of the tractor while other brands like AC, IH, Oliver, etc. have them on the left.

      They also put the gas tank right over top the engine, for nice hot gasoline.

      @@copperhead6132 i never thought about it until the guy across the street with a 135 asked me how i kept my Allis wd45 from vapor locking in the summer. I never had vapor lock on a tractor, heck, the manifold frosts up even in the hottest weather. (I used to have a 44 Massey Harris, the entire intake plentum would frost up when working ground) The gas tank on the Ferguson's and n series Ford's is directly over the engine and muffler, and the hood acts as an insulator, holding the heat it.

    How does the pto affect traction on these tractors?

    • @thesteelrodent1796
      @thesteelrodent1796 Год назад +2

      the PTO is is directly on the driveshaft through a simple clutch, so engaging the PTO creates resistance that causes less power to go into the wheels, which means there's less torque in the wheels when the PTO is on. The opposite happens when they disengage the PTO, which causes the torque that goes into the wheels to exceed the grip of the tires.

    • @Gugernoot
      @Gugernoot Год назад

      @@thesteelrodent1796 Is there that much parasitic loss from engaging the pto without a powered implement?

    • @ericeiden5957
      @ericeiden5957 Год назад

      The pto shaft is what drives the hydraulic pump that controls the draft control. So when he turns off the pto the plows downward force inst carried by the tractor but drug behind it while also digging down deeper.
