The designations TE and TO mean Tractor England and Tractor Overseas respectively. Harry Ferguson was from the UK so Be considered that Tractors produced in Dearborn, Michigan were “ overseas.”

In 1947, after the death of Henry Ford, Harry Ferguson told Ford that They could no longer use His system on the 8N which began production in 1948. Ferguson sued but, owing to Court not getting the Case settled quickly the 8N was produced until 1952 when the Case was won by Ferguson and Ford was ordered to stop Production of the 8N. A year later Harry Ferguson merged His Company with Massey Harris.
