Was wondering why I haven't seen a new upload in a few days! You were chillin with grant! 😎 something tells me you knew what was going to Happen already... being the master of mercury and everything....
Cello Coder mercury to Cody is like my son's favorite train toy to him. Cody is like nervously watching while other kids are playing his toy and make sure they don't break it.
Yea that was funny, maybe someday tho... I used to think transparent aluminum was just a funny star trek idea. But now that's a thing. But it'd probably have to be some exotic alloy. (assuming the aluminum is at a normal temperature of course)
Cody why did you look so sad after loosing the sucking contest? If there was one contest your whole life that you should not mind loosing then this has to be it. Love you man and love your channel.
You mean 48 comments that wonder what would happen if you put mercury in liquid nitrogen? At least all these kids are interested in science. Its pretty cool if you think about it.
+Andy Jones In this case, it's actually a pretty interesting question. Mercury is the only metal that's a liquid at room temperature, but how low is its melting point, really? I think seeing mercury freeze sounds like an interesting experiment.
You should solidify some gas, maybe Xenon since it's freezing point is relatively high, and then energize it to see what happens. Most gasses can light up when energized, but I want to see if they still will in solid form.
Hi my names ben and I’m depressed, watching your videos keeps me going and gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day,I’m not asking you to but I would enjoy if you made some sort of fun weapon and thanks for making my life a bit happier
Update on Cody for those rewatching. He's currently in Nevada on his own property building a long term chicken hole; first night he was almost ambushed by coyotes.
Love seeing both of y'all making videos together. Also love how Cody has that awkward antisocial mad scientist like socializing skills, I think he's been spending a little too much alone time in his lab with his science experiments he occupies himself way too well 😂 People like him though are probably the smartest people I have ever met though because they spend all there time learning instead of socializing. In return they have terrible social skills but are smart af because they occupy themselves by constantly fulfilling there own curiosity. If you think about it, there is literally not a single thing Cody doesn't know how to do but it all came at a price that ended up being totally worth it.
I love watching a multi millionaire RUclipsr with Cody. Cody *cough* is better *cough* demonstrates without the flash of RUclips trendy algorithms and in a more coherent and scientific idea.
Shane Westy there's a german channel kind of dedicated to gallium. I'll suggest it, and tell you, if he does it. Guess there won't happen too much tho, since it's density probably denies a great reaction. Too heavy to actually "overcook"
normalguy821 well yes... but if you control for temperature volume and a singular molecule type then it would be interesting to see sugar or fiber at .01 ATM or less. I mean that alone would be the same thing as increasing the temperature 100 fold.
normalguy821 Melting (and phase change in general) is a physical reaction, not a chemical reaction. You are not breaking any bonds. The individual molecules stay the same - you're simply increasing the distance between them. Wood, however, is not made of individual molecules. It is a polymer, which means the molecules are bonded to each other. If you add a lot of heat, they won't undergo a physical phase change, they will simply chemically react into a new compound.
That would be a fairly bad idea due to the fact that a few of the elemental metals are highly reactive. However, an amalgam/alloy of all the non-reactive metals would indeed be pretty interesting and has me wondering what the end result would be.
umadbrogaming wtf do you think will happen? Nothing will happen acid doesn't react to everything and what kind of acid? You cant just say add acid to something because theres a wide range of acids.
Pure mercury is not toxic if it stays OUTSIDE your body. When you inhale the vapors the mercury gets absorbed into the mucous membranes in your lungs locking it into the body. The mercury then eventually further reacts to produce toxic organic salts that are harmful to the brain and that the body cannot get rid off due the fact that mercury salts tend to be fat-soluble. Do not be naive when it comes to mercury, it should be handled with caution.
cody did test the amount of mercury in his blood before(and he said he'll do again in the future). the last time he did, the amount of mercury in his body was perfectly in the normal levels. lead was a little on the high side but still considered normal. And thats after sticking his bare hand into mercury. He does work with mercury a lot. I don't think the next test will be any different. elemental mercury does not dissolve into the body very well.
Having your hand in liquid mercury is fine because its OUTSIDE your body and the skin tissue does not absorb the mercury. As long as you do not have any cuts on your hand of course or it will get into your body.
If you are talking specifically about firing a gun at an sealed can of propane, then it is not possible since you'll need a heat source, fuel source and ignition to happen at the exact same moment. Otherwise the bullet just passes through the can, with the propane escaping from the hole, and no chance of an explosion.
You should test what would happen if you stuck a bottle of carbonated soda (sealed & unsealed) in a Vacuum Chamber? Also If you put dish soap in a glass cup of water and stuck it in the Vacuum Chamber what would its effects be?
Invicable Phantom Keeping in mind that mercury is toxic its a possibility that if you mix it with liquid nitrogen the Ng and Eo will mix and probobly you will born...
the liquid nitrogen would float on the mercury... You would need to force it to mix up with each other like with steering it around... I dont think a chemical reaction is gonna happen because mercury doesnt like to react with other elements so it would just freeze...
I had a lot of fun and hope to work with you again soon!
You both keep doing what you do best ;)

Can you do a video on trying to make liquid helium.
nearly impossible
helium had so low of a boiling point like under -218c so it is nearly impossible!
yeah it's boiling point is 4.222 K or -269 C . It's so near to absolute zero. So it's possible but extremely hard to make liquid He.
its actually pretty easy, you just let it decompress extremely quickly so it cools fast.
Making liquid helium is like trying to boil tungsten, possible but very difficult.
A liquid aluminum thermometer..........Even Cody pretended to not hear that.
Yea that was funny, maybe someday tho... I used to think transparent aluminum was just a funny star trek idea. But now that's a thing. But it'd probably have to be some exotic alloy. (assuming the aluminum is at a normal temperature of course)
It's aluminium oxynitride (AlON) and it's ceramic

NASA did a video on that. It was two astronauts on the moon comparing a bowling ball and a feather

My science teacher said that theoretically anything can melt at a certain temperature so can you make liquid wood?
normalguy821 well yes... but if you control for temperature volume and a singular molecule type then it would be interesting to see sugar or fiber at .01 ATM or less.
I mean that alone would be the same thing as increasing the temperature 100 fold.

that’s going to burn, and turn into something else that will melt, or explode into gas
Grant can you mix all of the metals in the periodic table of elements and see if you made a new indestructible metal
windywindows come on now not all elements join
That would be a fairly bad idea due to the fact that a few of the elemental metals are highly reactive. However, an amalgam/alloy of all the non-reactive metals would indeed be pretty interesting and has me wondering what the end result would be.

umadbrogaming wtf do you think will happen? Nothing will happen acid doesn't react to everything and what kind of acid? You cant just say add acid to something because theres a wide range of acids.
You need water to get acids to react and become corrosive, and there is no water in dry ice (I think) so nothing would happen

Grant this is crazier than the flamethrower but build a electromagnetic gun or railgun.
The Yellow Flash Anony lol I don’t think he can afford that
Isn't this like unbelievably toxic?
The beauty of a mercury manometer is that it is a prime standard. No calibration needed. It's as accurate as your measuring of the mercury column.
Yum, mercury vapors. When you lower the pressure in the tube of mercury it gets more volatile and more goes right into your chest...
Tryder pure mercury/vapor aren't toxic. Mercury salts are toxic.
Pure mercury is not toxic if it stays OUTSIDE your body. When you inhale the vapors the mercury gets absorbed into the mucous membranes in your lungs locking it into the body. they're just using their tongue's to up the pressure not actually inhaling.
Can you make a solid brick of mercy
yes, at low enough temperatures where mercury will be a solid
But is it like ice and melt back into a liquid
thats how conditions of aggregation work, yes ... (unless you'll keep it below melting point ;D )
That sounds dramatic

show us to make thermite pls!!!
mix aluminium and ironoxide aka rust
be careful if you make this it hot enough to melt threw 4 inches of hardened steel don't want that on your hand also wear some sun glasses
Can you ignite gas with a gun shot?
If you are talking specifically about firing a gun at an sealed can of propane, then it is not possible since you'll need a heat source, fuel source and ignition to happen at the exact same moment.
