Never met Kenny but got to open for Night Ranger and coming off the stage Jack said some of the nicest things to me anyone has ever said. He’s an amazing guy with an amazing talent. Love that dude.
yeah. I totally agree.. That's why I wanted him on my podcast.
My first concert ever Sly & The Family Stone, 1973. Great show. I’ve seen Night Ranger live, also great shows. Kenny’ a natural at these interviews as well as a drumming genius . Love the podcasts!
1982 dragged out band to city island to see Night Ranger open for Loverboy. Totally in Love❤ saw you so many times so many places...btw never left the house if NR was doin' Don't Tell me you Love Me...had a satin NRJacket went to Washington and stood on a Railroad track to have my picture took.. Great interview Kenny! I love Jack! A friend of mine, Hal Selzer plays bass for Joan and he became good friends with Tommy Shaw a few yrs ago. I would always tell him and show him how many Damn Yankees and Shaw/Blades songs I played and sang! I love Jack and Tommy's harmonies! They are killer! Love Night Ranger of course! Classic classic rock 🤘🎶🎵🤘
Exactly.. I love everything you said.
Oh Lord almighty, I have listened to Jacks music for decades and loved it all, but never did I think he was such a fun loving, storytelling guy. This was uplifting... man, what a great storyteller.
I know Jack is so cool.
I have loved Jack Blades since I saw Damn Yankees live in the early 90's. THAT was a killer band that needs to have a reunion. Night Ranger is of course legendary.
Hell yes Thad
Always knew Jack was a great talent. Had no idea he was so cool. "It's gotta be real" He is the real deal. A GREAT story teller!! One of the best I've ever heard. Love your broadcast Kenny. Just great stuff.
Yes yes and yes..
Jack and Kenny, you are both da bombay! 👍👍
lol Thanks Michael..
I saw the '83 show when Night Ranger opened for Sammy outside venue in Phoenix, AZ- great show- Ranger was awesome and so was Sammy. Guitar work with Brad and Jeff were amazing. Brad had the floating Floyd Rose vibration going and Jeff had great legato and hamer-on madness. Great energy- would see that show again anytime.
Jack Blades is the best. So underrated. I saw Night Ranger two years ago and they still sound great. I’d pay great money to see Damn Yankees once.
I agree . Jake is amazing. Thanks for checkin gout my pod cast
Jack is the man. Love everything he's done. Night Rangers 2022 ATBPO was fantastic, as usual. Hope we get another album. Would love an influence 2 with shaw as well
Hey Tony, Thanks for checking out my podcast.

Yeas he does.. : )
Jack Blades is #1! A gem.

Grew up on a lot of Night Ranger. Jack has gotten a couple of my dollars over the years...worth every penny.

Once again, totally enjoyed your interview.
Thanks Jeff : ) Happy New Year
Thanks Kenny and Jack for the best message of musicality. Drive, determination and experience directs many roads that a musician follows. His lightheartedness and humor sustained his attitude. Positivity prevails.🎼
I know.. Jack is so positive, happy, joyful, and loves life.. I love being around people like that.. : )
Both guys are terrific to listen to. Great energy. I have to laugh, I just listened to Big Life today… He seems a bit down on that album but I loved it then and still do!
Thanks so much for your comments.
You guys are maintaining because you do things the way you do....most of the band members are dead now because all the world was a party to them...good for you guys.
Ahhh This interview Kenny! I have been a huge fan of you both for years. I have always wanted a Jack Blades interview and this one is amazing... Thanks so much... You guys continue to inspire me and my career! Cheers and please keep it going!
Thanks so much.. Kenny a
I'm just loving this! Ned Tugent affirmed I needed to play guitar with Double Live Gonzo. 24 minutes in Mr. Blades expresses exactly what I felt the 1st time I heard Don't Tell me you Love me. Sold!!! 🤘💯
Cool John..
I only knew Jack Blades by name. And I've never listened to any of his bands (though I did hear a couple Night Ranger tunes on MTV in the 80s) - not really my thing. The only reason I watched this is because I've enjoyed your other interviews and figured that if Jack is interesting enough for you to want to have as a guest, then I'll support that. And I'm glad I did: this is one of the most enjoyable and uplifting interviews I've seen with anyone.
I also appreciate Jack portraying Ted Nugent in such a positive light. I was a big Amboy Dukes fan (particulary when Rusty Day was in the band) and have always felt Ted - much of it due to his own reaction-baiting shenanigans - never got a fair shake. Still, he - 55 years after the Dukes' 'Journey to the Centre of Your Mind' - is still riding high on his own terms.
Thank you once again. And to Jack Blades. You two really should make some music together.
Jack was so uplifting and positive in this interview, Everytime I have hung with him and performed with him, he is so happy and positive. He has Great positive energy . Glad you enjoyed the podcast with him. Steve Lukather is next..

Thank you. BTW, as an MI marketer I want you to know that IMO the visually striking design of your lead image (the one seen above) is one of the very best. It is crisp, clear, and consistent from episode to episode and thus acts as an effective branding vehicle. It is also devoid of any affectations of 'cool' - it, like you and your show itself is very real and authentic (as your chat with Jack suggests). Even including the episode number within it (versus in the caption) is smart; it drives viewers back to previous chats and creates anticipation for future ones. In short, it stands out in a magnetic manner. Whether it is you or someone else preparing those, an acknowledgement for a job excellently done is warranted. Indeed, it is too bad many of the big brands lack such strategic design for their websites and posts.
Cheers!
@@MrCherryJuice Fantastic. I appreciate your comments and I know everyone on my Team will appreciate them as well. : )

Great episode. Being a drummer/singer I always looked up to Jack’s bandmate Kelly Keagy. Was fortunate enough to jam with Jack, Kelly Keagy and Brad Gillis at the Whisky a few years back. It was a thrill of a lifetime and all of them were great guys.

Jack is very smart

i'm a huge Hagar fan, but Night Ranger ROCKED him out the building on that '83 tour. probably the best live show i've seen.
wow.. that's so cool.. I am playing with Hagar on July 21 at Paso Robles state fair. Looking forward to that.. I love all these guys.
I saw that same tour in Kansas City. It was outrageous
@@artheriford very cool.
Nonsense. I saw that tour too, at the L.A. Forum, and Night Ranger didn't "rock Sammy out of the building." They were both awesome, but Sammy was at his peak, success-wise as a solo artist (pre-Van Hagar), and there was no mistaking who the headliner was. Night Ranger had one album out and did a great 30-40 minute set. No complaints -- they were fantastic. But Three Lock Box was all over AOR radio, and Sammy's back catalog songs were too, and he was on fire. He had that red Trans Am on stage, and was singing and playing on the rigging above the stage ... he put on a heck of a show. You can praise Night Ranger without using hyperbole and misrepresenting things.
Another home run!!!
Awesome Kenny
Thanks Jeff
I hope when Night ranger gets inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame that it’s at the Barclays center in Brooklyn New York!!!!!
They wrote some bad ass radio friendly songs that will also forever
Mr. Aronoff, You have been my favorite drummer since I saw you play with Mellencamp (winter of '92, I think) in Dayton. Over the years, after you played with so many other folks, I can hear a song by someone and know it's you on the drums just from listening. I am not a drummer myself. I went the vocals route. But I have always been very interested in the techniques of all drummers. You are The Man. I'm glad I found your channel recently. Keep hitting things with sticks, Man.
(Jimmy Chamberlin is a close second to you as far as my favorite drummers go.) When I was growing up in the 60's I rocked out to Gene Kruppa with my Mom's record collection.
David.. Thank you so much for your message
@@KennyAronoffOfficial Thanks for reading and responding!

My high school band knew Night Rangers entire catalog and we ALWAYS started the set with You Can Still Rock in America and ended with Don’t…Love Me.
What a great show!
Thanks Michelle
My mom was the exact opposite of Jack's 😂. I'm not as "happy" all the time as he is but, I didn't let my Mom bring me down to her level.
before I forget I seen them when they were Ranger in 79 opening up for sammy hagar it was great growing up in the bay area can you do dave meniketti soon from Y&T great guitarist
this is an awesome interview!
Thanks Clifford.
Kenny, I'm so glad I found you man. I have Tom Bukovac to thank for that (big fan of Uncle Larry, he got me through the pandemic in one piece). Then I saw your interview with Leland Sklar and I had to check out your book. Please keep these coming. This was a fantastic interview! Had to stop and relisten to Rain as soon as it came up. Amazing showcase by all of the lads! I'd love to hear more about your diet and exercise routine sometime, maybe it could just be a quick bonus short form video. Anyway, please keep doing what you're doing. I know you will. Much love from a Hoosier living in Denver, CO!
Tom Bukovac rocks. brilliant guitar player and a wonderful man. And Leeland is such a bad ass. More pod casts coming.. Filming three more July 6 and 11.
Thanks, Kenny!
Jack is so doggone cool and talented!
lol yes he is Philip.. I agree 100%
Going back to the ear;y 80s. My friends thought Jack was faking his Bass Playing. I even saw NR in concert and though Fitz was holding down the bottom with pedals. You can’t blame us …running around strumming that thing like Danny Partridge. But he was cool anyway. Read in Circus Magazine he was in some band called Rubicon…. Well decades later with RUclips I checked out Rubicon…and then I heard Jacks bass playing ability and it was next level. Man we’re we wrong….of course Jack has informed us he played for and jammed and was endorsed by one of the greats . As with a lot of high energy 80s music it was about guitars and the bass was there to hold the bottom down.Jack did his job well. He wrote and sang great songs, was an energetic front man, had what I believe was the best hair of any rock srar, and held the bottom down. 😂
lol Thanks for checking out my podcast...
I still listen to "Fresh." I still have my copy I bought when it came out.

Does Jack have any idea if the John Kolodner era Damn Yankees album will ever see light of day?
Hey Rob... I didn't realize that their was a Damn Yankees album that didn't get released. If I had known I would have asked him about that.
@@KennyAronoffOfficial no worries when John Kolodner resurrected Portrait through Epic he had Ratt, Damn Yankees and Cinderella…and they were all once again back on a major label (briefly), I guess only Ratt’s record came out. The Cinderella album is still unreleased, as is the Damn Yankees. It has become something of legend….
Hi Rob - you’re not confusing that w/ the Night Ranger lp that JDK put out thru Portrait/Columbia?
I was upstairs @ the W Coast Columbia office a ton- during that period of Tim DeVine, Kalodner & Randy Jackson being the senior A&R chiefs in LA…)
@@karllouis2600 from what I heard it was Damn Yankees 3 and they paid the band to shelve it, Tommy Shaw was on Eddie Trunk about a year ago talking about it.
@@karllouis2600 “"The new regime came in, and they didn't want to do anything [with that style of music]. And in fact, they paid Damn Yankees a million dollars not to do another Damn Yankees record. We're like, 'Really? OK, we'll just take the check. Why not?' That was how it was because Damn Yankees had sold so many records and we were so recouped, so in our contract the next thing was like 'we get a million bucks to do an album,' and they just paid us the million dollars not to do the record. That's how much nobody wanted anything to do with that era and style of music.”
So the reason there are not alot of Thin Lizzy videos is partially do to the Death of Phil Lynott. I can remember qhen Dee Snider played one of his videos after he passed away and Dee was hosting Headbangers Ball which then was only 1/2 hr program at about 3pm on weekdays in America.
