- This week's episode of Guess That Record is a big one, as Jackson interviews keyboardist David Paich from Toto! As a founding member of Toto, David wrote the band's biggest songs including Hold the Line, Rosanna, and the all-time classic Africa (a song in which David also handles the lead vocal duties). Outside of his work with Toto, David has been a prolific session player having played on albums such as Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs, and Michael Jackson's Thriller. In this episode, Jackson and David talk about how his father's music career inspired him, how songs like Africa continue to be relevant, and what it's like to work with famous musicians.

This was a fantastic interview. No offense Jackson, but I was not familiar with you, and I had low expectations at the beginning of the interview. Kind of like, “who is this kid that thinks he can interview David Paich?” But you had clearly prepared very thoroughly for this interview, and you developed questions which were not the same old questions that David has probably been asked a hundred times. David was such a good sport throughout the interview, and he seemed to also appreciate your questions and your level of preparation. Keep up the good work Jackson, and thank you David Paich for being so forthcoming!

Lowdown is not disco IMHO - no four on the floor beat - to me, it has more of an RnB/Jazzy groove.
I agree, although I think it is definitely disco adjacent considering it's overall sound and when it was released.
