On the human flesh thing, there was lots of dodgy stuff being done by the medical institutions of the time. Corpse, organ, buying selling and steeling.

Jandowie Monster was a myth I heard about in the army as we were preparing to do a military exercise in the Jandowie bush... well, lo and behold... 4 dudes reckoned they saw it.. I mean, they were dead serious about it. This would have been 1989... I was always skeptical about these things but these four dudes all said they saw it. I got one of them alone and asked me to go over the full details of how they came across it.... a small rock covered clearing there was a water hole.. it was squatting down and drinking from its hand (like the biblical story) .. it looked around sensed or saw these dudes.. and got up and walked away . We were doing Recon training so we can camo on everything.. backpacks with chopped up bits of hessian bags tied to them to make them blend in, break up the outline.. .. face paint using artists makeup.. so we were indistinguishable from the surrounding bush... we moved slowly and silently through the scrub, no talking, just hand signals... you couldnt see us from more than a few feet away... Who knows. But these four dudes, none of them renowned bullshitters all reckon they saw it. It was raining and they all thought this was a man in a raincoat drinking water.. they came across it from the rearish direction at an angle... they came across it accidently and it stood up and looked around at them and then disappeared.. all in a few seconds..

Over 10 years ago i was having a yarn with an elder. When i asked if he could share anything about yowies, one of the stories he shared was a story that had been passed down to him. Was surprised when rum was mentioned in this video as turns out this is the same account that he shared with me. Said the government etc definitely know about them because back when the english first came here, they sailed back with one to england after it drank a barrel of piss and passed out. He didn't know what ever happened to it once it was on the ship, figured it was probably killed I think. Never thought id hear that story again to be honest

The King would have been the first dude to line up to meet the thing, therefore it didn't happen lol, he would have written about it as would have several of the scholars of the time, newspapers etc, cool story though.

Indeed Mate. Yeah, read this account before. It's a good description of the Pangkarlangu / Bulloo / Jogung / Yowie / Yahoo etc ancient hairy peoples (some giants, some smaller) of Australia. They were here before the Dreamtime & are an Archaic Human multi-hybrid made up of distinct Human Archetype Breeds - which also make up the modern Human Race - but most modern Humans are balanced by breeding & we only see the occasional Archaic imbalanced ones appearing through genetic dormancy. There are 3 distinct Human Archetype Breeds that in combination / Multi-Hybridisation - create this description to a T. (Incl. their yellow skin colour). These ancient Hairy & non-hairy Giant Folk are described in many countries & cultures. As for the Human Flesh eating - the account I read stated that a sailor got too close on the trip & Big Bloke grabbed him & started eating him. To connect this as well - the Bulloo were fish eaters & lived by the Murray River - but the Jogung were hunters & are told about in Aboriginal lore as hunting them down & chopping them up with stone knives. It's what happens when competition for scarce food & territory occurs. "You hunt my 'Roo, I hunt You." Note: Same thing seems to have happened with the Si-Te-Cah Red Haired Giants of the Lovelock Caves, USA, vs the Paiute Indians / Native Americans. Cheers. - Dave from Australia.

  • @tosgem

Of course it is completely false and no such "yowie's" ever existed in the 1790's. But it is fascinating that such tales seem to arise universally, and to see a tale from this time period. The word for such creatures exists in different languages - Yowie (Aboriginal languages), Yeti (Nepal), Bigfoot (modern American term), Sasquatch (American Indian). I suspect we have a genetic, instinctive memory of such beings. They were a part of the early human landscape, and we were given some instinctive knowledge of them which still speaks to us and spooks our imaginations. In the same way a black, shiny piece of hose that looks like a snake can scare small, domestic animals who have never seen a snake in their lives. We also have people spotting large, black cats all over the world, which no amount of trail cams, traps, hunts, searches for footprints or scats can confirm. Yet the tales persist and the first hand witnesses insist.

    • @TomasFunes-rt8rd

HOW do the dates not add up ? The travelling time from England to Sydney or Sydney to England was about 6 months, and a few English ships had departed Sydney since the colony was laid down in early 1788. Easily possible that an English ship had made it back to Plymouth by November 1789 ! I should add that a French fleet turned up only FIVE DAYS after the First Fleet landed in Sydney - mainly for the purpose of showing up what a smart-arse I am. And why the "nice try" taunt - are you suggesting that he fabricated that broadsheet ??
