Hey guys! This video is very different from the videos I usually upload to this channel, so I want to clear out some confusion before people ask why I uploaded this video. As you know this RUclips channel is dedicated to the Ottomans and their six-hundred-year history, but one of the first things that got me into loving history in the first place was learning about the Titanic disaster. As a kid, I would rent old VHS tapes of various documentaries about the Titanic, which sucked me into a world of interest about the time period of the disaster. For this video, I wanted to combine one of my two of my favorite subjects in history (Ottoman history, Titanic history) and present them to you guys.
HMHS Britannic was the younger sister ship to the famous RMS Titanic who served during World War I as a hospital ship. HMHS Britannic served during the Gallipoli Campaign 1915-16 which saw her transport thousands of wounded soldiers during the evacuation of the battle, back to the United Kingdom. This video is dedicated to those who lost their lives during the sinking of the HMHS Britannic and to all who fought during the war. I hope you guys enjoy the video, and please stay safe!
"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." -Ataturk

I remember many moons ago watching a documentary about the sinking of the Britannic, I never thought I would see a video about it some many years later. It was a delight to see it brought up again. Cheers OHH. Liked!
