The underdog! I owned a 993 and previous owner tracked it. It had a bad gear grind 2nd up to 3rd gear. The trans grenaded on our way to do the transfer paper work!

It kind of goes to show that the gearbox in the Integra was capable of putting up with lightning quick shifting (a similar case in the NSX) and that the Porsche lost so much ground possibly because the selector rings just went.
TLDR: Integra top, Nakaya legendary. There are two things that made this race impressive (yeah, that RX7 drift was also awesome). 1. The Integra was able to keep up. The Integra had the benefit that Tsuchiya was behind the wheel, i bet that Nakaya, Kurosawa and maybe even Hattori could do something similar but if anybody else were behind the wheel, i doubt the Integra would have done this damn good. 2. The legend disguised as Nakaya Akihiko. That save before the last corner on the last lap was fucking legendary. Not only because Nakaya saved himself, Kurosawa, the GTR and the Porsche (possibly even everybody behind them) but also because he stayed calm all the way despite him almost crashing (he even said that the RX7 should stay calm when the GTR passed it), speed reaction, regained control of the car, won and all of this on a fucking wet track (to a certain degree, seemingly it started raining a bit near the beginning of the race). That is fucking legendary. Hattori (on the NSX,. And btw, his reaction to Nakaya's save was priceless) was the one stating that Kurosawa should have pulled over with the Porsche or at least keep the car straight and he was right. Yeah, maybe Kurosawa was too busy with the transmission to see that Nakaya was right behind and ready to overtake him however, even if he had trouble and even if he still wanted to finish the race, at least he should have kept the Porsche straight but instead he was all over the place. Kurosawa and Nakaya are probably the ones that can and usually even drive more aggressively out of the group and that's great but Kurosawa here took it to an unnecessary dangerous level. Heck, Nakaya usually is a legend with the Evo by keeping up with the big dogs despite an inferior car (usually in terms of power) but damn, when i saw this save, in the wet no less, for me he went from badass to legendary. I still think it's a shame that he left Best Motoring in 2004 (or 2005) and i still think it's an injustice that F1 didn't give him the Super License because FIA didn't think that the Japanese F3000 wasn't considered a stepping stone towards Formula 1, instead they gave the seat to a woman that not only was known for her wealth rather than talent but she wasn't even able to qualify for a damn F1 race, always staying around ten seconds behind the pole and thus was basically thrown out after only three participations that didn't even pass the qualifying round.............this back in 1991 or 1992. But on the other hand, if Nakaya went to F1 maybe he wouldnt had as much time for Best Motoring and we would be able to see the legend be a beast in the Evo or save a GTR like this.

I bet most cars will end up spinning with such high lateral acceleration, I believe that goes to the Helical all wheel steering allowing the rear to point at the side where the car sliding towards to reduce the yaw by using as much longitudinal traction as possible. Brilliant car! GT-R FTW!
The way the GTR and RX7 drivers handled sliding, im sure they are all very skilled drivers. Most amateurs, including me, would've crashed it or spun it out of control due to shear panic.

Amazing safe by the gt r driver This was the closest crash situation that ive seen on this show so far Sadly we in Europe dont get the integra r, wonderful car
not in the wet... the extra traction of FF in the wet helped a lot here imo the same goes for the R4 layout of the Porsche, which gives superior traction... and the AWD GT-R too, of course!

My R33 GTR has cat back and Intakes, while my RSX Type -R swap has full exhaust intakes cams and the redline pushed to 9k RPM and I have to say there is just nothing like a NA Vtec motor hitting that redline. It may not be anywhere near as fast as the gtr but it’s sound is pure heaven.
Porsche mechanical issues? He just said he lost 3rd gear. Props to Nakaya, that GT-R isn't cheap to be crashed especially when Nissan stop production. The Integra R has the power to weight ratio to closing the gap with high performance cars. What is the highest horsepower possible for the B18, naturally aspirated (no turbo) when tuned?

Golf VR6 I know this comment is from a while ago but I think the car has a dog leg gear box which will probably have 1st gear where 2nd gear would normally be and 2nd gear where 3rd would normally be etc.

Shimizu (not here) is one of the better drivers of BMI too! Nakaya i can´t see agressivity but technique.
