- One of the major obstacles standing in the way of the Penitent One during his journey across Cvstodia is the Anointed Legion. Directly opposed to the goals of the Penitent One, its agents try to stop him from completing his journey, one of them performing an egregious act that could have far reaching consequences for the entire land! Let's go ahead and tell the stories of two of its most prolific agents: Esdras and Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony

I never noticed it before but Esdra's sister actually deals the final blow. She electrocutes him and he explodes before lighting makes her disapear.
Was it to protect his honor? I find it weird.
DAMN! i want a netflix series like castlevania from this awesome game!
They would have to clean up the story telling a bit! Lol. It's waaayyy too vague in the video game form to adapt it into a series, but I would be interested to watch one if someone did it!
I dont think netflix would do a series in this, there is too much religion symbolism in this game, in castlevania is more tame.
Did you have any thoughts on the Bad Ending? I was always disturbed at seeing your helmet placed among dozens of others and being called an anonymous visage. Usually in games, you're *The Hero*, but with the Bad Ending, you're reduced to just another nameless background NPC. Just shows this game is a real gem when it says; you didn't fail, you are just another failure among many. You weren't the first, probably won't be the last, but you will be forgotten regardless. No game other has ever given me that dark, empty feeling before. Did you have any thoughts on the Bad Ending?
I've really enjoyed your covering of Blasphemous so far. Have you any idea of other games or even other media you'd like to cover after it?
I mean, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. The only thing I think I don't like about it is how it evokes a feeling of there being a cycle: that this Penitent failed like so many others, but there will eventually be one that will take his place. But due to the conditions of the Penitent One's quest, there can't be another like him cause there's only one Mea Culpa. Idk if I'm making sense, but that was the one thing that I didn't like.
Thanks, man! Yeah, this was the last one I was going to do on Blasphemous and now I'm playing through the next game I want to do a video on (it's probably going to take a while). I think that one will only be a Story Summary, but we'll see!
@@SquatchGamingChannel Agreed. The cyclical idea would be very Dark Souls esque, but the fact a specific member first took the sword and instigated all this doesn't gel with it
@@SquatchGamingChannel Maybe the Mea Culpa gets put back in place for the next Penitent One by someone like Deogracias.
Could be! I would guess there would be some reference in the Lore for that though; there’s lots of references to there being a One, but not Many.
Idk! Maybe that’s what’s going to be revealed in some future releases!

I really apreciated a lot all of your lore content on Blasphemous, making the experience of the game even better through them for me and wanting to replay it all again now that I am grasping better all of it's world and thematics, so thanks a lot for your work on it! ;)

That's what I read under other comments and there is no problem with this of course, I will love to see more once we would maybe get more content from the game but I will of course still enjoy seeing what you will produce next so keep going like that ;)
I know this is an old video, but I think its interesting that its possible to avoid the fight with esdras if you go to his sisters grave before confronting him

if the Mother of Mothers church really wanted to stop the Brotherhood of Silent Sorrow then maybe they should have taken Mea Culpa and sealed it away in some secluded dungeon, maybe in the Sleeping Canvases or the Wall of Holy Prohibitions. They really weren't counting on the caprice of the Grievous Miracle to ressurect the Penitent One over and over and guide him to his goal. Big brain Escribar.
Perhaps removing mea culpa from the kneeling stone is considered blasphemy since it's a creation of the miracle and thus divine.
Thank you for introducing hotline miami to me since its one of my top fav games. I didnt watch the hotline miami story video because i wanted to experience the game myself and damn it was amazing!

I dont think that was perpetua in the mountains of endless dusk it was more of illusion made by high wils/miracle. Finding the resting place of perpetua she says that the one penitent one battled is just an illusion if herself

For me, personally, I had never actually read it correctly. My brain just saw the letters and assumed they spelt “Cavalries”. This is mainly because I had never seen the word “Calvaries” before (didn’t have a religious upbringing).
It was only recently (like Wounds of Eventide recently) that I realized it was Calvaries, not Cavalries, and that was because someone pointed it out to me. Lol.

Why didn’t esdras directly attack the penitent one instead of waiting at the gate? And why did he blow up at the end of the fight? Finally, what was the penance he and his sister took?
Probably because he wanted to wait to see if the Penitent One would actually try to open the gate, hoped that he would die trying to complete the Three Humiliations, or was confident he could beat him.
Stylistic flair. I couldn't say for certain
Presumably the rest of what the Anointed Legion took which was probably some form of vowing to defend the Mother of Mothers.

You should play fallout new vegas
On a slight tangent, I felt these two characters had the weakest voice acting in the entire game. I visibly cringed at certain lines and their delivery.
If you haven’t heard it yet, they were actually redone in the DLC, and they are WAAAYYY better now! I’d recommend looking up some clips!
