That's how I did my rye grass but I didn't let it set up to germanate I just mixed up some good topsoil I bought In bags withe my grass seed & spread it in the areas & it was a inch tall in about 5 days
Its nice not having to worry about it drying up or washing away for the first few days of the germ cycle. I didn't have to add any more water for those 3 days
I'm wondering if the density of blades was adequate? I can plan the density when the seed is laid on the ground in the regular method, but the seed density after mixing in your gorilla cart looked like it might be thin when spread out. Is that the 4 cuft or 7 cuft gorilla cart? I have the 7.
In the bin no, I never had to add more water, but you may need to depending on your conditions. Once I spread it out absolutely just as if I were spreading new seed until after it grew enough to mow it once them I resumed normal watering.

Is there any downside to letting the mixture germinate about five days, or longer, to where the seeds actually] sprout grass?
Another trick is, if you have some grass growing into a flower bed or you have to clean up your edges.... Move it to the bald spot like sod.
That’s a great idea, pre-germination. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. 👊😎🌴
I may actually try this method. I have a few spots I need to get fixed myself. Good job Caleb 👊

@@NextLevelLawnCare nice. I think I'm gonna try it
I have the same issues with my lawn. Should you prepare the bare spots for putting down the pre-germinated/soil seed combination?
if its compacted soil you should probably break it up abit. a garden weasel works great for that. otherwise it should be fine.

It was the 4 cubic foot, but it filled in perfectly so I'd say it was spot on. :)
Great idea. What time of year does this method work? I’m in Denver.
did you have to keep it moist. thanks.

@@NextLevelLawnCare perfect - thanks
Interesting idea, but you spent way too much time fondling the dirt mixture.
