For patching bald areas. Put good soil in a wheel barrow with good seed. Soak it and cover for 3 days with cardboard or whatever you have. Take that soil and mix it with existing soil. Germination in a day or two and it gives less time for birds to pick the seed out. Been working for me for 10 years

From 20 years ago, I saw the left side of my house on the fence completely covered by bitter melon. The fruit was yellowish-green and the inside was red goop with these seeds that appeared like beady beans. Fruit grew from tiny branches in the most beautiful, unique leaves which ranged in color from yellow to brown to red to green. Although into the month of August, I had to cut the plant from the fence because it had grown too big for it. I had never tried the bitter melon but it was said to be tasty but bore many negative side effects.

Use peat moss mixed with grass seed in a large container or barrel add water to get mix damp and cover with plastic then sit it out in the sun and after a week or so all the seeds will germinate in container then spread over lawn. Use enough peat to cover lawn, kind of calculate the seed to peat ratio

Lovely video. What type of grass is originally there? I'm trying to identify what my backyard grass is, may be rye grass. When reseeding is it okay to mix grasses, or would it work best to stick with what already is growing? You mentioned your Kentucky and rye grass mix is nice, but the greens are different colour.

I looove your videos. So thank you so much for that. I also have a question. Our backyard is full of weeds, the ones that have such a deep rooting system under the ground. All you see is weed vs grass. The previous owner never maintained it and it's been one year we are out our new house, and I really want to make our lawn look nice, no weed and fresh grass, but I don't know what to do with all those weeds, and it's so time consuming to pull them out one by one, it's a lot of them. What do you suggest for these kinds of lawns. What can we do to efficiently kill the weeds first and then start with applying grass seeds all over. Any suggestions?

I would spade the area, possibly replacing the soil since that might be the subsoil that you are dealing with.
If you patch in cool weather, you can cover with clear plastic to keep the birds from eating the grass seed.

Just thrown the seeds on and water regularly. Seed at right time. You really don't need any cloth or anything like that. Keep it simple...it works. The birds will take a few seeds so put loads down, they will germinate if watered regularly.

Laura> Since I am new to your Channel I am going thru some of your Highlights. I love grass. We did a big project during the summer with a Contractor. We have a lot of good grass so he came out and said to Aerate & Seed but the grass up in Front & Side we couldn't do that so that is what he was going to do. He sprayed the existing grass to die. Then he graded & smoothed down all the small hills. We had him put a really great RainBird Controller that I have now on my Cell Phone. Yes> I know he has me hooked right! We moved here in Spring 2014. So up in Front we changed out the Nelson heads & put Rain Birds on. Way better! He planted Kentucky/Rye Grass. OMG! You ought to see it! It is so beautiful!

wait what?? you cover it with a mesh cloth but doesn’t let water through??? how does the seeds shell crack open when your not watering them, that’s a miracle product
