Hello from Washington State, United States. Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve been watching many Willow weaving tutorials so I can learn how to weave the basketry willow that I’m growing. You are an excellent teacher.

Beth a super video I am delighted to see you are going more on line, it has proved to be another way of getting your message out there, I think this is only a start for you and may I say keep it going, I loved the set up and how it came across. Who ever did the video it is top class. You have to call to my garden and set up a sally garden soon. Animal sculpture Beth I need Bees I have to learn how to make bees, thanks again a super super video.

You could make a nice geodesic dome with those hoops. I am going to try that next year. The hoops can be like inscribed circles of the triangles and you connect the sides. Like they are the spots on a soccerball. Those hoops you have there would give you a 1.2m sphere, I am estimating. Would be very sturdy and a spectacular beachball, with those springy willows.

If I make an obelisk in a large pot, can I then transplant/transfer it into the ground?

Thank you what do you want to use them for? there is a bio mass grower in grange con, i would not recommend this variety for planting for weaving or structure building.

@@bethmurphy903 well I just want to pratice some of structures shown on your video, and you seem to be near to where I live. By the way are you the person who made willow structure over in Church in Carlow few years back? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for such a helpful video! I will watch your other video next. We finally have a property that we can call our own and I'm so excited that we had an order of willow delivered yesterday and we'll start planting out today. They are bareroot and nice long stems so I will cut them this winter I guess for coppicing. I'm just learning so any advice is welcome. Is it ok to cut them this coming winter?

Hi Mary I plant 30 cm length and pencil thickness or thicker cuttings and i coppice every year, unless i want to have 2yr old rods. i coppice from end of november to mid march.

@@bethmurphy903 Thank you Beth, I've been writing notes all about coppicing etc. and I'll make sure I note that down. We have two existing willows growing just far enough apart I thought they'd look cool as an arch. (They are still quite young) So we planted a few more in line with them today so they will form a short tunnel arch ( I hope!) I can' wait to get creative with them and underplant maybe with primrose.

Do your hands get tired, or have you developed special muscles that can go longer than a newcomer might go?

it just takes practice handling the big willow..I am working with this practice nearly 20 yrs now. definitely as I'm getting older it is physically harder..that's where my 20 yr old son sometimes helps out ...where theres a willow there's a way..🌱
