Binghamton is offered a promotion and transfer up to Fleet HQ, but must first reconcile a shortage in the base's equipment inventory. After all is accounted for, except for one item - a barrage balloon - McHale and the crew must race against time, in order to locate it and bring it in in time for Binghamton to be shipped out.

Urulu was one best of the supporting cast.
Joe Flynn is the most underrated comedian of all time …
Urulu always cracked me up. Just like F-Troop, with the Sarge and Agarn deals with the Chief.
Jacque was on a number of Perry Mason episodes, too.

looking back so long ago i can see that mchale was a role model for my 20 years in the navy, get the job done and dont get caught it works
I have never been in the service but I respect the ones who have been, I'm sure tho it sure wasn't as fun as these were having . My wife and I were watching a show called combat,i though a really great series that came out in 62,63.and got to talking that it seemed like a lot of good military show were out then and she thinks they were getting geared up for Vietnam, and these were a kind of propaganda about serving in the military.who knows,but I an sure glad whatever the reason.a lot if good stuff came out, Thxs. gb
I was at a base like in McHale's N. You could buy beer and drink beer anyplace except the chow hall and the flightline. We drank a lot of beer.

The way Flynn and Conway played off of each other was comedic genious.

I just see this come up on my screen, thought I'd give it a watch, i love this program now, real true natural comedy. I live in U.K, and I cant remember if this was on tv here when I was a kid ,does anyone now if this aired in U.K. Many thanks for sharing😁

This was a great show. I used to watch this after school many years ago. These guys were like my friends and got me interested in the US Navy. I'm really sorry that I never joined.
The programs of the 50s and 60s era were the very best. Those were all real actors and mighty funny. I watched all of those series many years ago and watching them again. These actors were mighty funny. Today it is garbage compared to the programs of the past.
So much better than most of the crap these days. MOST, not all.
The Urulu episodes are always great.

ALL OF THESE VARIOUS OLDER CLASSIC TV EPISODES ARE REALLY GREAT TO SEE ONCE AGAIN SO MANY YEARS AFTER THE DAYS OF OUR YOUTH WITH MANY NOW VERY WELL KNOWN ACTORS BEFORE THEY REACHED THEIR ULTIMATE FAME -

I have viewed several negative comments in other postings. I have my thoughts as to why , how and when this show was run along with several others of the time/genre.

William St.Marie Jr. I never saw this in first run. I saw it in reruns when I was 8 or 9 in the early 70's. but 3:36 sticks in my mind over and over.
People aren’t being carried away by giant navy balloons anymore, either a shame.
