    Gruber and the guys try to make some money with some phony pearl oysters, but their scheme backfires when a greedy Binghamton takes over their operation. Then, when Chief Urulu muscles in on Binghamton's business, McHale and the crew put a stop to the whole operation, by taking advantage of an old native superstition and some Japanese technology.

      Watched this show when I was a little kid with my Dad. He spent 4 years in the Pacific during the Korean conflict. Didn't no it was satire then thought it was real. Brings back memories. Good ones. Tim Conway and captain bighamton best comedy team ever. Wanted to be just like Gruber when I grew up.

It takes me back to a time as a young boy , carefree and exploring my little paradise in Pensacola, early 70s. (55yrs) Corny, yes... I watch in the A.M. A guilty pleasure, when it's all dark @ quiet, these days there's not much to reclaim innocent youth. R.I.P. "McHale Navy" 🙏

    Anyone notice that at 3;30 Captain has a real glass lens in his glasses frame, but in other scenes the frames are blank--no lens?

    • @thekingsilverado9004
      @thekingsilverado9004 4 года назад +4

      If U ever watched the behind scenes Mchales and a few other shows like Hogans Heroes the glass is removed from the eye glass frames because of lighting glare and camera reflection caused by it. Most of these shows were filmed early evenings because of temps and traffic noise levels in the studios most of the times either the sun created reflections refractions or the lighting itself they used back in the day could not be defused just like the natural lighting of that era was difficult to deal with. Hollywood already had it's tricks down when these shows came about. car windows and eye glasses were some of the toughest things to work around in that era. Not to mention Birds shitting on actors in the big enclosed studio sets of that era.

      I have noticed that a lot watching these episodes. In fact, thus far (I am watching the episodes in order) I have only once seen him with lenses in his glasses and I am sure, as the other reply says that it was to avoid glare from the lights.

    True artistry, well written comedy. Today writers are crippled I. Their ability to write good humor.
    The clean and pure approach of this genre out weighs anything of today's genre productions.
    If someone writer, producer, director, or even actor/ actress could revive the purity of film art instead of the trash film of today.

    Tim does a good dog sound, he actually sounded like one! he could've fooled Harvey Korman, one question, (McHale's Navy) ABC 1962-66 DVD seasons, are they uncut or edited?

    • @wallyplumstead614
      @wallyplumstead614 4 года назад +1

      I have a few including the last season and as far as I can tell, they are not edited.

    • @thekingsilverado9004
      @thekingsilverado9004 4 года назад +2

      almost all of it is edited to an extent because not everything is filmed in the order you see it. another large factor of Birds shtting on the show folks in the enclosed studios as well as chronic alcohol breaks interfered with many of these shows being filmed not just this one but all of em. The master film reels these shows come off of are probably untouched and for good reasons. The way ya see it in my opine the labs did an awesome job with the shit back then they took pride in their work. Nobody could execute comedy like these grandparents did back when. The stuff still makes ya laugh and 4 good reasons it was good quality. Something Hollyweed traded for sleaze ratings later on. It let all of us down big time... Long Live McHale and ole Lead Bottom...

    Carpenter is a failure as an officer. He should have delegated the heavy lifting of the oysters to an enlisted man, instead of doing it himself. That's actually part of OCS, where they tell the guys to dig a ditch, and the people who tell the local enlisted to do it are the ones that pass.
