- McHale's Navy Full Episodes: Season 2x02 |"The Binghamton Murder Plot"
Binghamton begins to regret having so harshly punished the 73 crew, when McHale and the boys -- while in the process of trying to rid their island of a bothersome bird -- give the Captain the impression that they are out to get even.
This was an extra-funny episode! Flynn was great!
Truly one of the best episodes. ALL, great actors and characters, EB, JF, TC & BH. Many have passed and will be missed. One of the core and iconic Sitcoms of the 60's. Gavin Macleod still lives in Palm Springs CA I believe and is definitely considered a TV and Movie Great. He's been on the screens since the late 50's. Incredible, and may he stay in good health at 89.
This episode focussed on an annoying silly bird that looked like a Toucan and sounded like that of a native Australian bird, the Kookaburra. With Gum trees known to be in California, you'd reckon you would find a Kookaburra? No, the writers had to make sure it was a South American Toucan with the voice of a Kookaburra. This had to be a set up to stir the known Australian audience where the series had wide appeal. What a legacy these actors have created and the show still is popular to this day.
Paul you are so correct. As an Australian I find it so annoying that they use a Toucan sounding like a Kookaburra. Also when they use the call of the cockatoo in the jungle of Africa.
I loved this show. So many great shows back then. Today? 0
@ 5:40 “But sir, if you were ever shaking your syrup, I’d be standing right behind you with a teaspoon” 🤣🤣🤣
I just love this show it takes me back in time God I wish I was there everything was simple and easy the good old 60s and 70s
i guess im randomly asking but does someone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
Me too 😊!
This episode shows how good Joe Flynn was. He was very funny in this!
Carl Ballintine, was an excellent addition to the cast of McHale`s Navy, his Brooklyn "Flatbush" approach towards the festivities was a stroke of genius! Carl, was the ultimate "con-man", and obviously the "Nemesis" of McHale and Binghamton. The series would never have been the same without Gruber`s gambling, thefts and general mayhem........
His schtick was quite dated actually. The stuff family guy spoofs , Jewish fast talking
@Last man on earth . . . what I've found very amusing with Carl Ballantine (as it was spelled in the closing credits) was seeing him in other TV roles after McHale's Navy; where he basically plays variations of the Gruber character . . . a (ahem!) _ethically challenged_ person.
Totally agree!!
A nemesis of Binghamton...yes, but of McHale? I don't think so.
@@williamjones7247 I respect your opinion of course my friend. But, Gruber got involved in a multitude of con-games right behind McHale`s back. Gruber could hardly be considered a friend.........
" share her --"BOX LUNCH"-- THAT WAS A NICE HIDDEN MESSAGE--- from that pretty nurse!!!
Joe Flynn was a great actot and really made this show. His death was a real tragedy. I was sad to hear of his passing.
We lost, Tim Conway yesterday, he and Joe played off each other very well.
R.I.P Tim....
@Clifford Rodgers . . . I agree!
Now my being an adult, I can better appreciate the talent Joe Flynn was to this TV series.
While Ernest Borgnine was the Oscar winner that got top billing with that show; it was Flynn that was the real driving force for the comedic success of that series.

So was he.
I was 6 years old when I originally saw this in 1963. I’m 63 years old now! 🥴

Oh the ugrateful Captain changed hats with the considerate Lieutenant who always protected him !😂
I know I wish for once that Elroy would let Binghampton fall on his face!
ALL OF THESE VARIOUS OLDER CLASSIC TV EPISODES ARE REALLY GREAT TO SEE ONCE AGAIN SO MANY YEARS AFTER THE DAYS OF OUR YOUTH WITH MANY NOW VERY WELL KNOWN ACTORS BEFORE THEY REACHED THEIR ULTIMATE FAME -
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR FINDING AND POSTING THEM HERE.
Thanks for sharing. RUclips has made recovey, not just bearable, but also enjoyable. ...somewhat 😊
Carpenter is definitely McHale's version of Sergeant Schultz and Captain Binghamton is definitely Colonel Klink and this makes McHale Colonel Hogan
The Carpenter would spill his beans if he knew something about McHale and his crew. Unlike a certain sergeant in a German Army
Jim,you don't know what you're talking about. Mchales navy came out before hogan's heroes. So who copied who?
@@terry-fn9dj you can say that again
@Darrell Hall Wait a minute, McHale could convince Carpenter that if he tried to squeal to Binghamton, it would be the end of him too.
McHale: Carpy, if you think of giving Ol' Lead Bottom the whole poop, I can guarantee that the last enemy the crew and I sink at sea is you.
Gruber: Wearing cinder block shoes.
Carpenter: You wouldn't.
Parker: Well Carpenter, you have a point.
Carpenter: Hmm
Parker: You'd probably only make it to the dock.
Tinker: You won't even make it to the door.
Fantastic episode !
Carpenter I forgot how funny he was
That bird sound is a kookabura... endemic to Australia 🤣
Really gonna miss Tim Conway.
16:18 WOW! How did that line get by the censors??!! 🤣🤣🤣 LMAO
Tom Davis they didn’t have the idiots that we have today!
Fun episode but the bird sound is actually that of a kookaburra laughing not a toucan.
@Songs Mirth Toucans are native to the Neotropics, from Southern Mexico, through Central America, into South America south to northern Argentina.
EAnnH who gives a fuck!
Kookaburra is the national of Australia.🤩🤩🤩
The Kookaburra is a member of the kingfisher family.🤩🤩🤩
The use of a toucan was probably due to its physical profile looking larger and more prominent on the black & white small TV screens of that era.
JOE FLYNN YOU PASSED SO YOUNG.YOU WERE A FUNNY GUY.
3 days ahead of his ship 😂😂😂
Griffel bird? Never heard of it. Kookaburra? yes. Toucan? yes. Griffel? no.
Hi Buzz.
My reply to a previous post:-
You are dead right. But many service men during WW2 and other wars had "Knick names" for various things and people that annoyed them in one way or another. Not having any conection with the USN, I don't know the context of "Grifle Bird". Being Aussie, it sounds more like a "Kookaburra" Thats just seen a snake. Lol. (Lunch).
Love this series. When humour was true humour unlike what we get now. Good cleen fun with a healthy mix of the Pausible Impossible.
Cheer's mate.
Wonder how many young people chose the Navy - because of McHale's Navy
I chose the Army because of this show! The joke was on me!
Love this show
You inhaled me into this!🤣
The Gripple bird's sound is an Australian Kookaburra
The Griffle bird is actually a Toucan.

@@alexingram3782 bloody oath mate, the laugh of a Kookaburra it surely is. A Toucan with a voice of our majestic native bird is very odd indeed. I think the ol' Kookaburra definitely had the last laugh though and not the Toucan. Somehow, I believe the producers knew of this, just to get a rise out of their known Australian audience. Now I'm stuck with the picture of a freak'n Kookaburra waking me up in the morn, Kookookakka!
@@paulwiis9469 Lol. :)
Cheers Paul.
They don't know how to make em like that anymore
...I could just scream!
it was the best of times the 60,s great TV
That island looks a lot like Gilligan's Island.
In this episode Walter Brooke plays a Captain and Mark Tapscott plays a Commander. In
episode 13 of season 1 it was vice versa.
Nevertheless, it's a mighty good show.
Damn woman! "Breathing stuff" lol
Lt. Breather!
A South American toucan with an Australian kookaburras call! Now there's something one doeasn't hear every day!
Great Show's ✝️🇺🇸😀
I Watch McHale Navy In 2019
That bird was not an Australian Kookaburra.
The bird you saw wasn't but the bird call is from a Kookaburra
in the picture no, but the sound yes.....
Picture definitely a hornbill. See them all time here
@@dedoughboy That is a Toucan & there are 37 species.
The bird is a Toucan. They substituted the sound of a Kookaburra, because a Toucan has a very subdued sound.
But the bird call they hear is that of the Kookaburra (which do exist in the South Pacific) but the bird they showed was a Toucan, which does not exist there but is native to South America.
I wish for once that Carpenter would stand up to Captain Binghamton!
Don't crowd around the fire escapes😂😂
The main reason I joined the Navy!
im drawing a blank, what was the name of the episode where Mchale's crew was singing about how great he was?
8 pounds to paradise
Man...that episode was a "vault keeper", a "hall of fame" episode.🤣🤣
I thought in an earlier episode that Binghampton couldn't swim.
This episode ❤️🤪
Flynn is Gold
15:05 Best line in the series!! [SPOILER(S) BELOW!!]
COMMANDER QUINTON MCHALE:
"'And you're going to do all this of your own free will and accord -- and that's an /order/!!'"
And that's an order!
Funniest episode IMO
Hummm... Crazy Captain on a Minesweeper, trouble during a typhoon...Queeg, perhaps??
Are they calling it a grippo or griffle bird? I wonder where that name came from...
I am hearing griffle bird, which is the made up name for a bird that looks like a toucan and sounds like a kookaburra. Considering it's a made up name not sure it matters
No need to shout buddy :)
Why did you cut out Joe Flynn and Tim Conway from the opening credits?
Bad edit on the Shout Factory DVD, using the Season 1 opening video -- But they did keep the correct opening title audio, which is a slightly different variation on the theme from all the other Season 2 episodes.
John80220
Oh, I see! Yeah, it was a really bad edit. They had to slow down the flags so the video would stretch out to end the music!
All of the syndicated versions have the opening credits for this episode botched. For some reason they used the season one open
www.imdb.com/title/tt0644887/trivia?tab=gf&ref_=tt_trv_gf
I wonder if Tim Conway is Rodney Carrington's Father?
At 8:12 did Parker pull the pin on his grenade or didn't he.
Toucans are South American, and
don't sound like a kookaburra.
Ha...how many US admirals subsequently tried to kill their sailors?
I was gunna say I was just listening to a kookaburra that can do a bloody good impression of this bird lol
So? It’s not a Toucan or a Kookaburra anyway. They clearly said it’s a GrIffle Bird.
And besides....it’s a sitcom, not the nature channel.
@@dukethomas95 The bird is a REAL TOUCAN , the bird call is a Kookaburra.
11:14 or the fork 😂

Carpenter is a 100% sycophant.
Good episode. Too bad todays shows aren't as good. Lately I've found myself watching 1950's and 1960's movies and TV shows.

Conversely, the Ensign Parker character was a total idiot, totally unbelievable, and detracted from the quality of the show. No deference to Tim Conway. He was a funny guy, but he played Parker all wrong.
