RAYA, from Atlanta, Georgia, had always been a 'wild child' so her family weren't surprised when she came out as polyamorous to them. However, they expected it to be 'just a phase'. Now she is happily non-monogamous and coaches others on how to open up their relationship. She told Truly: "I fell into polyamory accidentally when I was in my early twenties. I came across a book called 'The Myth of Monogamy'. I read it and I was fascinated by what was in it, I always felt that monogamy was a little bit forced for a lot of people." Continuing she said: "I've been polyamorous for six plus years now. I accrued so much knowledge and I have been mentored by women who have been polyamorous for decades and in healthy polyamorous marriages. I was like, I have this knowledge, I have to share it." Raya has been with her partner True, for four years. They both knew that they didn't want it to be monogamous when they entered the relationship. Raya explained: "Around the six-month mark we started entertaining and bringing in other partners." Their way of life hasn't always been smooth sailing, bringing in partners has caused friction in the past, and leaving True feeling jealous: "These women love her. They don't love me as much," he joked. However, they work through any issues with thoughtful communication. The outside world can be quick to judge their unconventional dynamic: "Sometimes when we're in public and like there's affection between the three of us, we get looks like we're freaks or something," Raya admitted. In this episode of Love Don't Judge the couple go on a date with a potential new match to see whether or not there is a spark. Raya's friend Raketa, who she has known for over a decade also comes over to discuss her initial doubts about the opening of their relationship. "When I first heard that Raya was polyamorous, I had a lot of doubts, I had a lot of concerns," Raketa admitted.

The best friend seems knows something way more about her friend than she’s willing to reveal in respect for her, but I personally think that something happened to her as maybe a child or teen which caused her to venture off to liking women. Being with women is something like a form of a safety guard for her and her being with a man is a way for her to satisfy the opinions of society because her preference is women. Until she gets to the root of what happened to her, heal and get delivered in Jesus Christ holy name, she will remain stuck in a toxic cycle of lust. I like these people, I just wish more people were understanding about non-monogamy and people that step outside the art conventions.
As somebody who can be in in between worlds I just find it really upsetting when somebody who is monogamous throwing through wants to go off and judge people for their own decision-making, especially when it comes to how they want to define what sort of relationship they want.
We will make choices in life, what’s wrong with spreading love, the only reason people have an issue is because we’ve been programmed to think that there is only one way.
