    Thanks for sharing.
You have reviewed quiet some jackknife/edc picking tools so far.
I'd love to see a kind of wrap up video showing the different jackknife pick sets available and some of your "homemade".
I guess this would be helpful if someone really is considering buying one.
Looking at this particular design. I like the length if the picks but I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the locking mechanism.
I guess, with some high level of engineering skills one could incorporate one or two BOK tensioners in that set, too.

I am waiting for mine to arrive. What drew me to it is the posiction and size of the screw. I have struggled a lot with the screws on other jacknife sets. Imbedded as they are, they can pinch. I also cannot tighten them enough with my fingers alone. I have had to use a small needle nose pliers, every time. Looking forward to trying it out.

It looks quite nice... except for the huge, curved DANGERFIELD written on the side. Why would they think we want that? It can probably be removed, but the name would have been much better if written less prominently in smaller print.

I love all the slight variations of Jacknife types and little nuances that's on offer. This one does look pretty cool I must say and it is nice to see 8 variations of picks. Agreed an extra BOK tension wrench would have really set this little kit off. I think the price is very reasonable too to be honest.
Great review as always Lock Noob 🙂👍

Thanks for the review! As I suspected they did not "solve" the thumbscrew issue. I have one of the other ones in the wallet and, as you said, you don't get it out often but when you do the screw is always lost in the wallet somewhere. Is there something that holds it in? A rubber ring or something else? From what I can remeber only the Pocket Pick (by Martin Newton) comes with two tension tools and IIRC later versions of the SWIC (or maybe the earlier versions?). Also the SWIC features some fancy cool locking mechanism without the screw, maybe you can compare the three options.

It looks a damn sight better than those cheap little H&H ones. Nice, long pick shanks, love the profiles, heaps of tools, and this is the first jackknife set I've seen with a Bogota. Shut up and take my money, frankly. The only changes I'd make is to swap the snake for a Sparrows worm, and I'd add a BOK turner. I'll bet you could wedge a wiper-style turner over the picks. There's usually a slot the long end will fit in and somewhere you can wedge the short end. If not, you can put a slight inward bend in the long part, which helps, for some reason.

  • @makbar59

They could have easily done away with the thumb screw and had a lever which would be much more flush with the body. Additionally once loosened the lever could come away to be another tension tool.

  • @johnkeo358

it looks like a pretty sweet jack knife. I would have to agree that it would be nice to have a second torque wrench like an L wrench. Looking at the design, I"d say you can definitely add an L wrench in there, I would say a set up like how Southord and lockpickpools have their L wrench set up, though the southord version had a tendency for the torque wrench to slip out on occasion. My new favorite is the one from lockpicktools, its a very slim design, but unfortunately only has the L wrench.

Heads Up, just snagged this with the 30 piece expansion set for £46.50. A 50% sale apparently. Use code "AMAZING". Nice to see I can customise this as the ones I have you are always stuck with some picks I never use. Not that I pick a lot now in lock sport terms, but day to day the skill still comes in handy. Not that I like this man much. If considering this the one thing I will pass on is it's a completely different style and feel to picking with one of these "Jackknives" to a normal picking. These do not feel like Southords or Falles but will get you out of the shit if you know what you are doing. If you don't forget it, might get lucky on a Poundland lock with a rake, but that's about it.

I've recently become fascinated with locks and picking. I bought some combs to mess about with some padlocks I had knocking around but they are a bit hit and miss so I want to go for some picks. Would something like this be a good starting point or should I go for the praxis set? I like the idea of it being EDC but it might not be the best especially for learning.

    I like it.
I guess I sorta collect EDC picks, pens and jackknives particularly, but not intentionally, I just keep buying new ones for some new feature I like. They all have their good points and shortcomings, and I've modified (customized) most of mine to my own personal taste.
I agree with your assessment of snake rakes, one of my favorite rake profiles is a snake that is (bent? Offset? DeForest?) So the tip is like a small bump, buy in a pinch can be used as a shallow hook. I also often rake with it upside-down letting it act like a shallow double peak.
One thing almost every EDC set share is a lack of turning tools, but I have one jackknife (I can never remember the name or who sells them) that has SIX different wipers, and 2 double ended pry bars of different thicknesses, for a total of TEN different tension options, as well as 12 pick/rake profiles.
I will buy this set! But not until the price drops a bit to be on par with other jackknives.
