For reference on a 32-year-old man. And you just taught me something you got on your hands and knees while pregnant and you did a tutorial on something that I should have already known but I’m happy I do now thank you I’m proud of you. I was also able to raise mine up to part of the problem was it was slightly clogged but mostly because there wasn’t a wide enough opening for the water to be drained so I was able to lift it up and now it drains almost instantly

This video gave me the courage to try to unclog my sink myself AND IT WORKS. It is not hard to unhook the stopper and the pipes uncouple easily, but DO use a bowl underneath as you work. I am so happy that I was successful!

I finally know how to remove the drain stopper. I've been using random items to clean out whatever I could pull out. Only problem now is that the stopper doesn't go all the way down so the water drains instead of letting the sink stay filled up but I'm sure I can eventually fix that. It's not much of an issue. From extremely clogged sink to practically brand new is wonderful. I'm glad to have seen your video. It didn't even take me ten minutes to fix the sink.

I would use Drano and then for a week it became slow again, use Drano, wait a week, and so on.
I was ready to call a plumber until I came across your video. I pulled out the stopper and it was encrusted with what would look like tartar on teeth, but thick amounts of it. Soaked in vinegar for an hour, then scraped off the stuff. Thanks a million!

Andrea, you did an excellent job on this video that will help so many people.... and I'm amazed at your camera work. I just cleaned mine out a couple of days ago and I always dread it because of how hard it is to get the little hole in the stopper lined up with the rod underneath all while with one hand you're holding the fitting underneath. It's like you're in this big body hug with your sink! ...when you took it apart, I thought to myself that I hoped she remembered to notice what hole the rod was stuck in because that makes all the difference in how it all drains and you certainly don't want to do that body hug any more than you have to. ...i was able to go almost three years without cleaning mine and that's great because I always wash my hair in the sink but I also collect that hair from the bowl before draining just to avoid having to clean more often and also it shows me my fallout. In other words my practice at home is to head off trouble by watching what goes down the drain. ....this clean out is something everyone should do themselves instead of calling a plumber. I know someone who puts some God awful chemical in hers to clean it and I have explained how easy it is to really clean it this way. I have a septic system and I definitely don't do anything to disturb the natural balance of bacteria in the septic tank plus I don't want harsh chemicals sloshing around in my pipes and seals. They're my friends, right (lol). From one girl to another, you did a great job on this video. Best wishes with baby!

I had a skuzzy bathroom sink drain that needed cleaning. I did this before several years ago but needed a refresher. So, I Googled "Kohler bathroom drain plug cleanout instruction video" and there you were. Easy to follow! I will save your video for next time because I will likely forget the details next time. Thank you so much! I now have a free flowing clean sink drain. The hardest part was crawling around under the sink on bad knees. How did you ever do it while expecting a baby! Wonder Woman!

Man oh man that was satisfying. My house when we bought it 7 years ago. In our bathroom sink it wasn't draining and I pulled the stopper out and cleaned it out and it still wasn't draining so I took the P-trap out and there was so much gross stuff! Non of the drain cleaners could get it unclogged.
This was so good. I'm a 70 year old widow. I've never had to do jobs like this before! But I'm fighting against the modern world! Whatever happened to the rubber sink plugs that were so easy to use? Thank you for making it look so easy one handed and 'with child!'. X.

They were clogged almost completely for months and every time I use them I think how much I should to pay to plumber ..... And today I found your video . And I with great fear, knowing that it is easier to disassemble a thing than to put it back together, began the “fix the sink yourself” operation! I followed step by step your explanations in the video. I will not say how much sh*t I pulled out of the drainer ...... And then I put everything back together and turned on the water .... And what a miracle !!!!! My sink was like a new. Everything turned out just perfect! I didn’t have any extra parts left over as usual 😂, and there wasn’t any leaks, which was also one of my worries. Thank you! It’s a super annoying job and doing it especially in the condition you are deserves applause! In case of my sink, the hole on that piece was so small and narrow, it was almost impossible to put the metal thing into it. It literally makes me want to go to street and protest why is it so hard to come up with easier design/fixture to make that job easier.

Super helpful, thank you for making this so easy. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the hair below the stopper. Once I reconnected it it was still draining a little slow so I poured about a half cup of hydrogen peroxide, waited 5 minutes then flushed it with hot water and a little dish soap. It is now fully draining.

Was watching this to clean my sink cause I pulled a bunch of stuff out of it, and when you said it could be twisted off, I tried mine and it didn't come off, but it DID drain better when I rinsed my hands off from the gucky drain-touching. I remember I was trying to find a video years ago on how to unclog my drainplug that was hooked on. And your video was way easier to follow than what I watched a long time ago. Thanks so much. I pulled out what looked like a turd of hair lol.
Exactly what I needed, thank you! But you can reinstall it to where it’s not attached to the plunger stick. You turn it sideways and that inserted stick will still push the plunger up and down, but, with easy removal!

The only way my experience differed was that had bought a sink shroom that i knew id be putting in the drain instead of putting the stopper back in. With my long hair, I knew that would be a better option instead of having to routinely clean out my drain this way from now on. I did put the screw back that closes off the hole in the pipe itself, but it didnt reattach the stopper mechanism since I knew I wasnt going to be using it at all. So, I just put the original stopper and the clamp that attaches the stopper into a small baggie and put it under the sink, so if i decide i need to use the stopper at a later date, i can reattach it.
