My mold and allergy expert told me to spread dry borax on my mattress and either leave it or I could vacuum it up after an hour and it would kill most organisms that cause allergies including dust mites. He also recommended to use it on your carpet. Spread it and after an hour you vacuum it up. Another way to cut down allergens is to put half a cup of Borax in your wash where you put the bleach. The manufacturers of greenboard have never recommended it for wet areas, so the builders paid out their noses for going cheap in the bathrooms by using greenboard instead of backerboard.
Using the baking soda on mattress is something I have been doing. The vinegar and eucalyptus oil, not so much? Thanks for the idea.
I use a waterproof mattress cover.
Excellent video, I was wondering I have one of those 3" foam mattress toppers. Do I do both of them the same way? Maybe I will lose some weight not eating in bed!
Would this work as well on an old stain? I was told peppermint, keeps even the creepiest of critters away. I do much prefer peppermint over eucalyptus.
Ty for this good idea ..I kept getting anxiety about your wedding ring snagging on the mattress lol .
Thank you 😊 I got some work ahead of me with my mattress that’s been in the storage for two years 😓😠🧡🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾😊
Lol good luck!!
Really helpful video. And yes, I HATE toxic chemicals, so been using these sorts of methods for years.
But, yep, unless you have someone else in the household, mattress flipping ain't gonna happen. Hey ho.
ThanQ for this though. Fab video. And you come across well. Some I turn off instantly and shudder. Lol!
If the mattress stain is old, will the stain removal process w the vinegar/dishwashing liquid/water & baking soda lift it?
I liked your video. Thank you for the information you gave.
Will this work on memory foam?
I vacuum my mattress every week when I wash my sheets! You won’t believe the dust that comes off
well i didthat awhile ago and itwas a lot called skin flakes looked like flor i should do it more often read what my comment is to say

Mites too. I do the same thing. Mostly because of the mites that love dead skin cells.
Great job. I used my carpet cleaner to clean my mattress because I make my own solution using hot water, tide, odorban and fabric softener. I will add this disclaimer it takes a good 4-6 hours for your mattress to dry completely. Also I recommend putting the mattress on the floor so you can apply more pressure. 🤷🏽♀️ anyway it works for me. Great video. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Do you have a video on how to clean a foam mattress topper?
Yep 👍
Use Natures Miracle to spray on for oders. It is the best. It's for getting rid of cat pee smell but also works for other things.
ive got to do this more. i have an old mattress but i have foam mat toppers that need cleaning &deodorizing. good tips.
L
use Essential oils lemon oil. I am partial to Doterrra . for the odor as well as the stain.
I used equal parts of baking soda, and white vinegar in bowl . mix and it will make a paste . spoon paste mixture of baking soda and vinegar . let sit 30 minutes . then take wet rag and wipe it . let it dry . it really works
I have a Sleep Number bed ....ya can't flip that! My mattress cover for this king bed is thick and heavy. It took two of us to get it from the washer and stuffed in the dryer. I washed it in a commercial machine and it took $6.25 and 1+ hour to dry it.
Hi Andrea, I;m not sure if you are aware but if you have a stain, the idea is to put baking soda on it when the stain is wet and the soda will lift the stain out as it dries and then you vacuum it.
Parmesan Garlic must be great dressing🙂
Can't flip my mattress .. it is one sided. I make a spray 2 parts filtered water to one part rubbing alcohol and add essential oils all into a spray bottle. Make sure to shake before use. This leaves a great smell
You can turn it around it'll help even the wear of your mattress.
@@felichiah5845 I do👍
Thank you for tip
Ty ❤️
Turning a mattress around doesn't help much if your bottom is in the same place. Usually the middle area. lol
Does baking soda ruin the vacuum?
Yes
You should relabel the container that you put the baking soda in. Even if you think you are the only one to use it and you will remember, it's a good habit to have.
My son and I made a short(1:56) video for you of our experience with your tips here... Couldn't find an email though. Hope there's a way to share it with you. We really appreciate you taking the time to help us be good stewards of our homes. -Cody and Heather Bouchard 💙
I will be trying this when spring cleaning!! Thank you for sharing 😊 every 2 weeks I do spray all the beds down with a de-bedbug spider mite concoction of essential oils of lemon, winter green, lavender, tea tree, and cinnamon in a water filled spray bottle. I also add a bit of dr bronners Castile liquid peppermint soap to help disperse the oils. I look will go to your channel and check out all your other videos!!
Are all these oils pet-safe? Will have to check....
To get the essential oil out of the container, turn the bottle clockwise until the oil drops come. There is a certain spot on the little dispenser where the oil can seep out.
For those that do eat in bed... "Grandma's secret spot remover" found at Walmart takes red and blue m&m dye out rather easily.
They don't melt in your hand, but with full body heat... 😂😂😂
Also, never forget a Lint Chocolate ball in your pocket... Then wash and tumble dry... 👀😬 Had to throw the pants out. Taught me a lesson, check the pockets!!!
I never eat in bed, that helps...
Coffee is a nightmare... I spilled some on my old mattress , and never got the coffee out.
Now I use an Ikea Mattress protector and am really pleased with it..It is so easy to wash, and warm too in winter.
Crumbs in a bed are horrid!
Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle works well too. Spray let dry put soda and then let set for few hours and vacume easy .
Will this help with pee stains also? My daughter peed through her mattress protector and I am having a hard time getting the smell and stain up
New subie!!!! 🇿🇦💃💗
I vacuum with my dyson. ! You would be amazed at the dust it lifts.
Do you have a video on getting blood out of my mattress?
Peroxide instead of vinegar for stubborn stains
Watching this while lying in bed on the EXACT same sheet set!! Lol
Me too...lol
What do you use for blood stains?
Folex 👍
Love your voice! 🦋
I watched your video about cleaning couches . What material have you cleaned with this method. I have a microfiber thanks
Thanks for the tips!🙏😌
I cleaned a stain out of my mattress once and it left a yellow-ish water stain around the edges. There were also some sweat stains on the mattress. Do you know how to remove water edge stains and sweat stains? Thank you!
Mother taught me to flip the mattress every time you change the sheets. Not only do you flip change end to end.
do you dilute the white vinegar?
New subscriber here!!! Thanks so much for these tips!!!
That was good. Hello from Australia.
Me as well👍🏼💜🇦🇺
Great tutorial.
Just be prepared to replace all the filters in your vacuum, as baking soda clogs and wrecks HEPA filters
Just clean them afterwards, don't let them sit. That is with any baking soda rug refresher as well.
Thanks for the tips, I’m now a subscriber 🙏🏾🎄
Hi do you have cleaning hacks for car cloth car seats
I have found a great product called OdoBan. Kills germs and has eucalyptus scent. I have used it on I hate to say this a smoker who really smelled of cigarette smoke and spritzed them ever so lightly and it took the smell right out I had a smoker in my vehicle and I sprayed it in my truck and within 5 minutes the smell was gone I mean it didn't mask it the smell was gone I have one of these in each bathroom and I have one out at the shop that way when the cars get washed or whatnot Spritz the cars are all deodorized kills germs it's just a great all-around product
What's the generic name?
Where can I buy Odoban? How much?
I love Odoban, and swear by it!!! I started buying it at the beginning of the pandemic when lysol was sold out and it has worked amazing for our household!!
@@yolandadaniel2685 there is no generic, and it's sold at Sam's club or Walmart
@@yolandadaniel2685 you can find it at Walmart for around $4.97
I've used Odoban for years and I love it. It works great.
Who knew? Thank you Andrea, I'll set to with the vinegar & sodium bicarb pronto!
Quick question, do I use vinegar straight or dilute with some water?
Thank you for being so helpful 😊.
