Nice job; very well done. Previously I watched another video detailing the exact, same repair. It was twice as long, you could barely see the pop-up assembly (the sink was in a cabinet and the narrator didn't light the shot) and you covered a couple of important details the other narrator didn't mention.

Thanks for your concise video which helped me fix a broke off pop up drain/pivot rod in 15 minutes. No new parts required.
**FREE** tip: As stated in the video, the drain rod will eventually rust off at the short pivot ball end. No needs to order a new rod replacement. I hammered the old rod through the pivot ball until it protruded ~30 mm on the other side of pivot ball. It worked like a new rod, although the now shorter lift rod end had to go up one hole on the clevis rod.

This helped me so much, I’m a 13 year old girl who lives in a small house with my brother, sister, mom, two dogs, a cat and 4 baby kittens. Our sink has been clogged for awhile now and we tried many things but nothing so we kinda just left it. I got sick of it so decided to do it on my own, I did the pipes and everything and got it unclogged but struggled to put it back to together cause I could not remember. It was really hard finding a video on how to put it back together with a sink like mine, Thank goodness you were here! You have my gratitude

Thank you for a most helpful (and stress reducing) video. Your instructions were direct, clear and concise. I was able to fix the stuck pop-up mechanism in about the same as the length of time as your video. Believe me, without having watched this video, it would have taken me much longer as a DIY or could have been costly by calling in a professional. As someone else posted, the use of the correct terms was helpful. It will make ordering new parts easier (and make me appear knowledgeable, LOL).

I kind of hope you would mention that inside that "gasket"/nut, there is a hard plastic O-ring that goes between the pivot rod and the gasket/nut. It is the O-ring that when being compressed against the ball-joint as it is tightened in, it provides for the needed sealing for this connection. I just learned about it today when my wife reported a leakage problem under the sink, which has been there for some time. After some test running water to see where it leaks, we saw it right at the pivot rod. As I remove the nut at the ball-joint, I found the inside O-ring (or gasket) being broken and deformed. Replacing with a new O-ring and re-installing the nut did fix the leak. One more thing, I also use some thread seal tape, aka PTFE, to wrap around the threads to ensure a complete seal for this connection,
I'll definitely show your video to my wife, who is keen in learning about certain plumbing fix she can handle. Your video certainly gives her the confidence to do this, if/when needed!
    👍

This video is excellent guide. I did what she said and demonstrated. My problem was that the nut securing the pivot rod came loose. This resulted in the stopper slipping away from the pivot rod inside the pipe. It also caused a leak. Tip: I protected the polished chrome ring on top with blue masking tape, in case I needed to pry up the stopper. I also used the masking tape to create a tent over the stopper, to create a loose security tape that would keep the stopper in line, facing the back of the sink. Then I took the pivot rod, minus clever rod attachment, but with the concave plastic washer and the nut on the rod. I pushed the rod into the hole. Then tested if stopper moved correctly with the pivot rod movement. Yes it did! Then I carefully screwed on the nut with the plastic washer that is concave to the plastic ball. Checked the stopper again. Yes. Up and down movement with rod movement. Then I tightened the nut and used a pliers, but not over tight. Checked rod and stopper movement again. All working. Finally attached the clever strip. Checked again. All okay. Then filled the sink bowel and drained. No leaks. Declared success and poured a Manhattan. Cancelled plumber’s appointment which would have been $$200+. To monitor next 24 hours.

I'm slowly giving up on that clip I might just have to get a small o-ring or something to slide up it..
Because all I'm getting from it is it slides right off...

Your video was much more thorough than anyone else's. Thank you SO MUCH!!! You should explain all the probs of life that women deal with, that they THINK they need a man to fix, but we don't. Come to think about it, a man (or any other person) can't fix anything about you, but could fix inanimate objects in your universe. :-)

What if you have no extension rod? Our sink mechanism used to work even without one. Now won't lift up but can't figure it out.

You did an excellent job explaining this process. I'm going to fix mines tomorrow.
