Nice job; very well done. Previously I watched another video detailing the exact, same repair. It was twice as long, you could barely see the pop-up assembly (the sink was in a cabinet and the narrator didn't light the shot) and you covered a couple of important details the other narrator didn't mention.
Thank you, Jim!
I also think that this is a better video than the "dark" one that you refer to. Thumbs up!
Same! Just "fixed" the sink in our new house thanks to this! So many of the DIY channels on youtube are for people who already know what they're doing, or putter around for ages.
Thank you to all of the kind comments on this video! (That's little baby me, 7 years ago.) ☺️ I've since moved on from Landmark but I ran across this video again and I'm so glad this is still helpful. Ladies, y'all can do ANYTHING!
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Cute and practical. The ultimate wife/girlfriend.
We just had a problem with our sink, not knowing what to do. Ended up being the metal rod not sticking through the plastic hole of the sink stopper, but we had no idea what the mechanism was. So glad I found this video 😊
@@nathansanford846 she didn't like your thirsty comment LMAOOOO
Thanks for your concise video which helped me fix a broke off pop up drain/pivot rod in 15 minutes. No new parts required.
**FREE** tip: As stated in the video, the drain rod will eventually rust off at the short pivot ball end. No needs to order a new rod replacement. I hammered the old rod through the pivot ball until it protruded ~30 mm on the other side of pivot ball. It worked like a new rod, although the now shorter lift rod end had to go up one hole on the clevis rod.
Your comment is from a year ago and I hope you're keeping great.....I've done this before, lol...a lonnnng time ago and so I searched how to....I watch so many DIY vids to fix things, and your vid was sooo easy going, detailed and just excellent :) It sure came in handy for me today! Thank you!!
Six years later...this video is still excellent and relevant. Thank you.
This helped me so much, I’m a 13 year old girl who lives in a small house with my brother, sister, mom, two dogs, a cat and 4 baby kittens. Our sink has been clogged for awhile now and we tried many things but nothing so we kinda just left it. I got sick of it so decided to do it on my own, I did the pipes and everything and got it unclogged but struggled to put it back to together cause I could not remember. It was really hard finding a video on how to put it back together with a sink like mine, Thank goodness you were here! You have my gratitude
7 years and this vid keeps on giving. ☺ THANK YOU! SO HELPFUL!
Best video on this. Clear, good camera angles, no excess chatter. Two other videos never explained how to position the stopper BEFORE you insert the pivot rod.
I can’t even tell you how many videos I’ve watched and searched for and yours has been the only one to help me from start to finish! Thanks so much!
Omg you are a lifesaver. Everyone else skips the step about lining it up. One person even said to do everything THEN drop it in and hope it'll latch!
Oh man, did you save my life, I pulled on the pop up and the whole thing just popped off. I started panicking and looked at videos but the others were too hard too see. But thanks to you, I get to live another day
exactly what is happening to me
You Made that so easy to follow and do! Thank you. I am 64 and was determined to do it myself, well almost :), with a little help from my husband I was able to do 90% of that! The gasket was a bit too tight for me to get off so he loosened it for me and he made sure it was tightened back up for me :). It only took about 15 minutes with cleaning of parts! And this was having to bend over and into a cabinet, haha. Great job! Thank you.
Great video & instructions. It’s not often I’m able to watch one RUclips video to learn something and feel like I completely understand and trust that explanation without watching at least one more video to confirm it. You clearly know what you’re talking about and put it into layman’s terms so smoothly!
This might be from a long time ago, but is spot on for information and directions. Thank you so much. Did not have to call the plumber!
My son was nelping me fix the sink. LOVED showing him this video to teach us!
Thank you for keeping your directions simple and concise! I was happy I could do this job without tools! Excellent photography too! No more stopped-up sink.
I echo all the other comments. Fantastic video, commentary, clear instructions, good lighting and wonderful dry sense of humor. Never lose that and I hope you are well and happy whatever you're doing now.
I'm a single mother of 3 who just recently divorced my husband and this helped me soooo much, ty, you go girl! My water has never drained so good!
Update: my drain has failed again and I have no idea what I'm doing, but as soon as I'm done picking up my anti-depressants and check on my kids, I'll rewatch the video. Thank you

The metal pin came loose out of the top part of the sink behind the faucet handle. Immediately came across your video... Watched it and we fixed it, put it all back together in only 5 minutes. Now it's working great. Thank You! 💯🌠 #womenfixthings
Hey, great video! Went to Lowes, and bought what I needed, watched this video and made the fix extremely fast and got my wife's sink working again. Thanks for posting such a helpful video!
I watched several videos, couldn't figure it out.
Watch your video and "boom" problem solved...You're awesome.
Thank you. I'm so happy when a woman shows how to do things because some of us were raised without experience in DIY.
This really is well explained, and progresses slowly enough to allow someone who isn't familiar with the assembly, and process to follow along, and really understand each step. Well done!
Well done Whitney! Thanks so much for your very thorough breakdown of how this all works. Hey, some of us guys also benefitted big time from your tutorial. Thanks again!
Thanks, Whitney. I was actually replacing a bad stopper with a SinkShroom and your video made me realize that I didn't have to take the pivot rod out completely. Thanks for such a detailed video with an easy view!
Exactly what I needed. After a handful of other sites...this one was the most clear and took me minutes to fix the problem. Good visuals, simple clarity. Done.
I watched quite a few of these videos and this one is by far the clearest to watch an understand. Using the correct terms for the individual parts was also very helpful. I am 72 yrs. old and thanks to your instructions I feel confident that I will be able to do this repair myself. Thank you so much..!
Katherine Duke my bath stopper won't pop up
I think this applies to sink stoppers not bath stoppers
Excellent job. Easy to see, watch, and understand.
Your clear and easy-to-follow video made me believe I could fix my pop-up drain mechanism myself. It worked! Thanks!
Loved, Loved, LOVED your video. I will repeat everybody here. Good lighting, able to see everything, and your calm demeanor! After watching this I calmed right down, cancelled the plumber and will be leaving for the hardware store as soon as i am done thanking you! 65 yr old woman here, and sadly enough I am the "repair" person in the house, and that is not saying much!
Your video addressed my exact problem. You made the steps easy to see. Thanks.
Thank you! This video was straight to the point. I was able to fix my stopper. YAY!
Thank you, I definitely had problems fixing the pop up stopper until I came across your video. You are a lifesaver, you explained it clearly and never rushed through explaining a task that I never did before. Great video and very pleasant demeanor...Again Thanks!
Sooo super excited! I’m a single mom and homeowner for over 3 years! Recently my adult did something and the stopper was stuck! I watched this video pausing to be sure I was keeping up and guess what?! I FIXED MY SINK! This homeowner thing is getting easier by the day! 🤣
Thank you SO MUCH! I looked for this exact video for 2 hours. You explained this so well and I was able to locate my plumbing issue within seconds. Thank you, thank you!!
I had to clean my restroom sink twice due to hair and gunk clogging the draining pipe. Thanks to this video I was able to put it back together in about 2 minutes both times. (First took me so much longer cause I didnt watch this at first lol!) I know I'm gonna need it again in the future so I kept it in my likes. Thank you for posting this vid! It really helps me a lot each time I come around to doing this chore again
Thank you so much! This took less than five minutes. Your instructions were very clear and comprehensive. Easypeasy!!
Just wanted to thank you. Watched several videos but still had issues with the new universal parts. But your explanation seemed best! I had extra washers, etc that other videos mentioned, but nothing showed the ball clearly! You did, so thank you. The hardest part was getting under the vanity! It's done, no leaking. The only thing I would add is use plumber's tape on the threads of the drain & the rod. Thanks again!
Cleaning put the drain tonight and figured out how to put all the parts back based on your video. Thank you for the new vocab! Such a relief to have this accomplished. Thank you for your helpful video :)
Thank you for sharing. My husband isnt handy so here I am trying to learn and do it myself. Grateful for this video ☺️
Clearly explained and a well-lighted, clearly visible work space with a pleasant teacher!! Well done!
Girls can do anything! Your vidro taught me how to determine the pivot ball was in the wrong spot and therefore not allowing the rod to reach the proper spot in the drain body to allow the stopper to move freely. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this!
Exceptional instruction, it was the ideal information needed to fix the plugged up bathroom sink problem.
Thanks Whitney you are great with explaining instructions. I uninstalled and reinstalled all the rods. Thank you for your help. Take care
I've been having problem with my sink stopper and as a single woman living alone, I don't have anyone to ask to fix this. I can't believe that the solution for it was so easy. Thank you for your video (even though this was uploaded, 2022 me have found your video super useful) :)
Thank you soooo much my kids bathroom pop up have been stuck for a week. You showing how it works at the bottom was perfect!!
I discovered because of you that my clevis rod is broken in half. This is why it wouldn't lift the pop up stopper rod. I lifted the rod with my hand and it push the stopper up. Now I just have to replace my clevis rod.
Thanks a bunch
This was extremely helpful. You're great at explaining things very clear and simple. Thanks!!!
Well, I can't use a hammer without hurting myself...I have no home improvement skills WHATSOEVER!!! Thanks for the video, I was able to fix it. My wife will be thoroughly impressed. Aloha and Mahalo, J
Awesome! I just fixed my bathroom sink watching this video. Much thanks!!
Thank you!!!! I just had the stopper get stuck yesterday/Saturday & I have a LOT to do over the weekend. I started to fill the sink with water, changed my mind & then could not get the stopper to pop up.
I left it....due to time.
Fortunately, I am here/Sunday & found your video.
Very informative & now I know what to do.
Thank you for being so detailed. I watched several videos on how to reinstall the pivot rod and spring clip but wasnt able to see how to assemble it properly after watching them several times. I was able to do it after following your instructions once.
Thank you for your video Ma'am. I am a man but I must say you explained better than the videos of what other men showed. Here are the two things I thought were very important.
1. Bucket underneath -- in case there is a drainage
2. (Very important) the way you explained about the ball in the pivot rod.
The ball must be the right size in order to block water from seeping out.
Nicely explained. I liked the tip about cleaning the plug "go to another sink and clean".
I have to is exact problem for the last 6 months and today is the day that I will fix this for good. Thanks to your video because it looks so simple (that I just found) and the explanation are great ! 👍🏻👍🏻
So happy to have found this extremely useful fix. I have three sinks, all of which have detached plungers. I shall now be able to fix them, even if I have to buy new parts. Thanks so much for such an awesome tutorial.👍
this is a terrific demo slow enough, clear enough, and it worked for me perfectly -good work ad thank you also!
Thank you! So glad this was able to help you Candace!
Five videos and yours is the one that fixed my problem!
Thank You - Your demo was at the speed I needed. Your explained how it all functions together. Great job!
Thank you! I was able to unclog my bathroom sink by watching this video.
Thanks for making this so easy to follow. I watched another one and from the first minute I thought it was too much for me. You did a great job!
Thank you for this young lady!!! You saved my day! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
THANKS! i had no idea how the back of a sink worked but i was able to fix my sink (for now at least!) Thanks to you! Awesome vid.
I want to thank you for this video. I was having this same issue and had no idea who to fix it. Thanks to you , I did. Thank you!
Super helpful. Saw a really quick tutorial somewhere else but it gave me the keywords I needed to find you!
Thank you! My lift rod was disconnected somehow. I didn't even know what any of this was before I watched your video. I was able to fix it by myself! Thank you!
Watched two other videos before your but yours was the best. I actually fixed mine! I am so proud of myself!!
Thanks so much my one stopped working in my apartment, and maintenance takes forever so I figured DIY time. Very clear and concise video
Thank you, first 33 seconds of your video helped me out !! Amazing!!
Thanks I really appreciate this. My husband was at work when I needed this done thank goodness 😅 for this channel.
I'm on hotel and my son broke the sink, I tried everything to make it pop up but failed, luckily I found this video. Life savior, I do need to pay fine
Whoa! I’m a handy man now! 😃
Thanks so much for this clear, concise tutorial. Was able to get the stopper up and out, it was stuck down. Too rusted.
Thanks again!
This video was so helpful. It only took a few seconds to fix what was driving me crazy for the past few weeks.
It's definitely an annoying problem to have, Margaret. Glad this video helped!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I also thank God for this ability to solve things so quickly thanks to this sharing of knowledge!!!!
Proverbs 27:17!!!!!
This video is excellent guide. I did what she said and demonstrated. My problem was that the nut securing the pivot rod came loose. This resulted in the stopper slipping away from the pivot rod inside the pipe. It also caused a leak. Tip: I protected the polished chrome ring on top with blue masking tape, in case I needed to pry up the stopper. I also used the masking tape to create a tent over the stopper, to create a loose security tape that would keep the stopper in line, facing the back of the sink. Then I took the pivot rod, minus clever rod attachment, but with the concave plastic washer and the nut on the rod. I pushed the rod into the hole. Then tested if stopper moved correctly with the pivot rod movement. Yes it did! Then I carefully screwed on the nut with the plastic washer that is concave to the plastic ball. Checked the stopper again. Yes. Up and down movement with rod movement. Then I tightened the nut and used a pliers, but not over tight. Checked rod and stopper movement again. All working. Finally attached the clever strip. Checked again. All okay. Then filled the sink bowel and drained. No leaks. Declared success and poured a Manhattan. Cancelled plumber’s appointment which would have been $$200+. To monitor next 24 hours.
Thank you for a most helpful (and stress reducing) video. Your instructions were direct, clear and concise. I was able to fix the stuck pop-up mechanism in about the same as the length of time as your video. Believe me, without having watched this video, it would have taken me much longer as a DIY or could have been costly by calling in a professional. As someone else posted, the use of the correct terms was helpful. It will make ordering new parts easier (and make me appear knowledgeable, LOL).
I kind of hope you would mention that inside that "gasket"/nut, there is a hard plastic O-ring that goes between the pivot rod and the gasket/nut. It is the O-ring that when being compressed against the ball-joint as it is tightened in, it provides for the needed sealing for this connection. I just learned about it today when my wife reported a leakage problem under the sink, which has been there for some time. After some test running water to see where it leaks, we saw it right at the pivot rod. As I remove the nut at the ball-joint, I found the inside O-ring (or gasket) being broken and deformed. Replacing with a new O-ring and re-installing the nut did fix the leak. One more thing, I also use some thread seal tape, aka PTFE, to wrap around the threads to ensure a complete seal for this connection,
I'll definitely show your video to my wife, who is keen in learning about certain plumbing fix she can handle. Your video certainly gives her the confidence to do this, if/when needed!
👍
Thank you 'HandyLady', you are awesome!! for your clarity and details, even a housewife like me could understand. I repaired my sink stopper today, just by watching your video.
Thank you, Landmark Home Warranty' for uploading this Video.
Nice seeing women doing these things 😊
Your video was amazing. The rod on our sink was rusted. So we will replace it.
Thank you for such a great video!
8 years later and this saved me a maintenance fee thanks so much
An eight year old video saved my sanity at 1 AM 😅
Hi Whitney- I referenced this again when my other sink stopper got stuck! Thanks again!
This video still relevant…I just fixed it myself with your help. Thank you!!
Thank you - I just did mine. Rusty and dusty. I appreciate the clear explanation and step by step footage
Great video! Now I can fix two of my bathroom sinks. I think one is broke and not sure about the other, there may be something that fell down the drain because is doesn’t move. Thanks for a simple and great instruction.
Thanks so much for this video. Because of it, I was able to correctly diagnose and fix the problem with my downstairs bathroom sink. I wanted to fix it myself so that I wouldn't have to ask my very overworked and extremely stressed and tired husband to do it. So now I have the satisfaction of being able to do a home repair all by myself, and my husband has one less job on his honey-do list. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this, I suck at fixing everything but with your help I did this all on my own, can't thank you enough
Thank you for posting this. A $10 trip to the hardware store and I’m good. Technology and you are amazing.
Absolutely, I agree with everything Jim wrote. I repaired my sink plug following your tutorial. Very easy to understand and accurate too.
I just watched your video and replaced the pivot rod. Very helpful, thanks!
Thanks for giving the specific names of the pieces! (I had given them names like doohickey, thingamajig ) 🤙I really like your attention to detail as well!😃
AWESOME EXPLANATION VID
it is 2022 and this video saved me from ruining my sink. thank you!
A perfectly concise tutorial. Thank you so much! I accidentally detached the gasket playing around with my stopper trying to fix a clog so I’m having to help my dad fix it 😛 thank you!!
Thanks so much for making this video. It was very descriptive, a lot of pictures and you explained everything so well. My sink is now fixed !! 😊😊
Just what we needed to complete the job, thank you!
Excellent job explaining and showing how to do it! Woman Power! I was able to do this despite my lack of confidence all thanks to you. : ) I would love to see more DIY videos with you and other women. It's unfortunate that we, as little girls, were pushed away from watching repairs in order to learn how to be self sufficient.
Thank u thank u , I was at work today an the water would not go down because it stuck an after watching ur video i was so happy because it work for me
Great video. Really helpful. I had to replace the pivot rod and the one I bought at my hardware store was too long for the space under my sink (it was the only size they sold.) I had to hacksaw it down about a half inch.
This video was very helpful and so much clearer than any other one I have seen on this issue. Thank you!!
Short and to the point. Great vid.
